Istilllovefilbert Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Maybe I'm on my own here when I say I can honestly say I don't give two hoots about players names, reputations, or give a poo who they played for before they made their name in the premier league. I never take an interest in other teams, tactics, formations, blah, blah... all I know and care about is LCFC. From what I do see. MOTD, loads of Sky and so on, I don't believe the EPL is the best league, nor do I believe its as shit as some are saying. What I do know is that most clubs from Newcastle downwards are always in constant turmoil and mostly caused by an obsession to stay up due to money. If we are to survive, we have to be above all that shit. Let Nigel do his job, back him all the way, and we will be fine. Mid table season one for me
justfoxes Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Our first season will be a baptism of fire totally different kind of football we are used too there will be more prima donnas with inflated egos who believe they are the elite we will have to content with more biased refs who love to bum the top teams and we will have to put up with those theatrical diving cheats who how down like there's a sniper in the stadium !! BUT OTHER THAN THAT !! I believe we can finish quite comfortably around mid table ! Totally looking forward to watching our superb team playing in the premier league and holding our own against the Big Boys !! Well done Nigel Pearson and the mighty Foxes for reaching the promised land !!
iamafox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 For me it would be 15th, if the owners give Pearson the chance to manage the whole season and if he makes some shrewd additions. However I don't want us to overachieve. Say if we finish 7th, we'll probably finish in a much lower position the following season, as it has happened with promoted teams in the past. In my opinion, the best way for us to acclimatise to the Premier League is to not set too high expectations as it puts pressure on the team to deliver whatever those may be, like a solid mid table or top half finish. Those expectations will be more realistic with steady building of the squad and better financial stability after each season goes by.
Brown Fox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 If Palace can stay up this season I have every faith we can next season. We just need to make sure we get the results against the teams around us, any result against your Chelsea's etc. will be a bonus. For next season as well though just as a thought, do we think Pearson will change the formation? As good as Drinkwater and James are, I have the feeling against some teams we may be overrun in the midfield areas, so would be tempted to have 3 there. Thoughts?
Finn Claw II Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 All depends on signings but do any of the teams outside of the current top 9 really scare you? 3 or 4 good positive signings and it could still be anything from 10th to 20th! So taking the average of those leaves us 15th - unfortunately the same can be said for all the other teams so a final table of the current top 9 plus places 10 to 20 being decided on goal difference....

Yes.. West Ham, Hull, Stoke, Newcastle, West Brom... all sides we'd do well to beat, especially away. This thread is ridiculously early though. We don't know who we will sign, who we might sell, etc etc.
katieakita Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Perhaps age is playing tricks with the memmory but when MON got us up we wre favourites for the drop and we sneaked in to the play offs. Pretty sure our additions before the season were Spencer Prior, Kasey keller and the journeyman ian Marshall. We had the likes of Julian Watts and Walshy had only had one failed season as a prem player. An untried midfield of Lennon, Izzet, Parker and Taylor and Heskey and Claridge up top. Under O'Neil we didn't finish below 10th. The current crop probably has more potential than our team of the late 90's and as it turned out some of these players were pretty good. Some of our players can go onto big things and there is a togetherness, we will be better placed than the 2 who join us in promotion and Pearson doesn't seem the sort to splash out on has beens and names. We are not an old side and will get better. People are calling for money to be spent and breaking the club record of £5 million ish, well we have a few players now worth that sort of figure if not more. We have some big signings even if we didn't pay big money for them. Look at the likes of Moore, De Laet, Drinkwater, James, Vardy,Knockeart, Mahrez and Woods to name a few and you have a few quids worth. Have more faith in this guy than any other manager MON included to deliver and i think now compared to previous premier campaigns a board who will back the manager
Nalis Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Where CAN we finish? Around 11th/12th Where WILL we finish? Lets just see who goes up/down first!
Buzzell Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 As long as we stay up I'd be happy. Also depends on who we bring in. I reckon somewhere between 13th and 17th.
ousefox Posted 7 April 2014 Posted 7 April 2014 Pearson has improved our league position every season he's been with us...so if we stay up, we'll be league champions in 17 years time maximum
lcfc1994 Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I'm pretty confident we will survive (bringing the nice happy threads back to the top )
Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Take heart from Hull this season, done things correctly.
foxfanazer Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 With a couple of clever additions we can survive comfortably imo
