nlukka Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 There were some real idiots around me booing players, slagging them off and generally just being completely negative...the only problem was that they were STHs. I think that made it slightly worse to be honest, they've been there all season to see us play some lovely football, get beat only once at home before today and yet actually felt the need to boo in our first home match since securing promotion. Forget the day-trippers and the so-called plastic fans (although I hate that term), it's season ticket holders like those around me that we need to worry about. Bracing myself for next season when we're not 3-0 up by half-time.

Bracing myself for next season when we're not 3-0 up by half-time. In fairness this has always been the case. I've had to move season tickets before because I couldn't stand to listen to any more shite, getting on players backs after every misplaced pass. Happened when we were shite, will happen next season, will happen at every home game. Same shite when I have been to old trafford too. I think football just attracts a lot of people like that, simple folk who like an excuse to vent. Listen to any football phone in for an example of the kind of people I mean -it seems to be an inevitability. Much prefer away games for that reason. Ho hum, onwards and upwards. I'll carry on enjoying the games I go to, win or lose. I enjoyed tonight! 10 bloody years, we are promoted - even from the posts on here it seems people have already lost a little perspective!
themotivator Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 young lad sat behind me needed a slap from his dad tonight.as soon as we went 2 down he was asking "dad can we go home now?" "this is rubbish, pearson is an idiot" "why has he changed the team? never change the team" "why did we have to come to this game of all games?"It was difficult to enjoy the game with this in my ear for pretty much most of the game. Me and my mates, we aren't season ticket holders, always try to enjoy the occasions w can come down to the king power and support the team for the full match. wouldn't dream of booing or leaving early.for some strange reason the lad and his family stayed till the end and he seemed to enjoy the vague essence of a "party" once the hordes had left early. which was kind of nice i guess. At first i desperately wanted him to just **** off, but you never know, he could grow to be a loyal fan and learn how to support his team in a positive way. His dad was a miserable git too though so I suppose its unlikely.
Dynamogoon Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Get behind our team or don't turn up. I don't care how many games in a season you've been to, but if you walk out on 80 minutes when we've just been promoted then you are an utter disgrace.
DennisNedry Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I left on about 70 minutes (it was 0-3 at the time) I didn't boo or jeer, but I simply didn't think it was worth my time watching such a terrible performance. I don't see why you should have to sit through the whole game to be a real fan... better that than sit there moaning and cursing till the end surely.

Yeah, you're right about that always being the case, although I wasn't expecting it tonight given the circumstances. I think that's what I found most disappointing about the negativity; people are entitled to be annoyed that we're losing4-0 and having a stinker, but this was a game where we were meant to be celebrating promotion. To that extent, the result should have had no bearing, I think. As you say though, onwards and upwards. On the bright side, the last 10 minutes were absolutely superb and I hope for more like it!

Dynamogoon Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 In reply to the above. What do the players think when everyone walks out? They've just won us promotion dude, have some respect.
iancognito Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 So please do enlighten me to what you would class a real fan? Just because you don't have a season ticket doesn't mean you don't love your club. I for one travel from Norfolk so can't make every game due to work... Does that make me a so called plastic fan??? No. Read the post again. I've only made half the games this season, like you work gets in the way for me but that's not what the OP is saying. It's the people who have come tonight for the first time or the first time in 5 years or something ridiculous. I agree to some extent with op. However I've only managed to get to 6 home games this season and 2 away. The 4 of the home games I've been to I was made to feel uncomfortable with the fans around me as I've not been seen in those seats before and could hear jibes of plastic fan etc. I've been a Leicester fan for over 30 years and was a season ticket holder every season when I lived in Leicester in the days of Filbert street. Now I have to work every other weekend and live a fair distance away and have a young family to look after. When I'm at games I never leave till the final whistle and not once have I booed or slated the team at a game. Does this make me any less of a supporter because I can't get to every game. If so the game and team I love has changed so much. I a fox and I respect all other foxes and jealous and respect those that can get to every game. However to be called plastic, just because I'm no longer a sth is a joke. As above, no, no, no. It's the once-a-season-come-for-the-party plastics they mean not people like you.
Guest bss9401 Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I have a rule at home. If there is nothing to play for I leave 2 mins early. This is mainly to get a head start because I have a 50 mile drive home. When I go away I always stay either way. I have been watching my Foxes for 35 years home and away and I have been to 75 away grounds over the years (including many when we were in League 1). I sang tonight, as I always do and I have never 'bood' a Leicester player or team. When I was leaving early today there was abuse and I just gave a V sign. I have held a season ticket many times and I will not be told how to show passion for my team, especially from fans who have as much passion as a spayed bitch. I was deflated after such an unprofessional performance as the ground should have been rocking. Fans will rarely party after such a performance.
Dynamogoon Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Exactly. You don't have to justify yourselves, you know if your a fan or not, no ones cares how many times you turn up in a season. It's about being a proper fan when you do turn up. No booing, jeering, moaning, walking out or phoning radio leicester and embarrassing yourself with stupid negative remarks about one of the best city teams I've seen in my lifetime.
EnglishOxide Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 It's not just daytrippers. That fat bald **** at the top of N1 was giving abuse to the team FIVE minutes into the game. It was constant shouting and swearing at the top of his voice from there on until the 70th minute when he left. Don't know why he bothers if he gets no enjoyment from the whole thing. Suprised he hasn't had a heart attack yet.
Guest bennytwohats Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 Yeah, you're right about that always being the case, although I wasn't expecting it tonight given the circumstances. Couldn't agree more
Freeman's Wharfer Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 I left early, I didn't boo, I didn't jeer, I left early mostly because my dad did and I go with my dad but also because that performance was disgusting and completely unacceptable - I went to the Boro game last season, that's what separates the plastic from the actual. So you, of course, knew that the players wouldn't be staying out at the end of the game to take some appreciation for what they've achieved in the other 39 games they've not been disgraceful? Or you thought that that 1 poor performance didn't warrant you staying to show such appreciation? No excuse for leaving early tonight. Maybe usually if you want to beat the traffic or whatever. Not for me but understand why people do it. But in the first game after we've spent a decade trying to get promoted and finally achieved it?! No, I can't understand why you wouldn't stick around to see what might happen.
themotivator Posted 8 April 2014 Posted 8 April 2014 let it be known that there are lots of really shit excuses for supporters who own season tickets and come down to moan every time we aren't winning. there are lots of people who come infrequently and support the team very well.there are also the opposite of both of these two examples.its likely that all these kinds of supporters exist at every other club.having said that. personally i hate to see people leave early. that goes for half time too. unless it is an emergency I think that walking out of the stadium sends a big enough message out to everyone that you are not willing to support your team through the slightly harder times. even though they have literally just gained promotion. you dont need to boo or jeer. each footstep is a boo AND a jeer.
stevie lynex on the wing Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 went tonight and been a city fan sice 1981 .tonight was my 11th match this season (4 away matches) middlesboro/stoke in fa cup/birmingham/burnley.in the years i have followed leicester i have been a season ticket holder for 15 years on and off out of 32 years .been to 53 away grounds (some grounds both old and new ones ) .Followed city when they were shite under pleat .been 4 play off finals 4 league cup finals (inc replay at hillsboro).went oldham away just after bryan hamilton was sacked .we took about 250 fans that match .went middlesboro (A) In 1989 nearly got a good kicking any one who went would remember and loads more ...so because i am not a st holder now .am i a so called plastic fan ? .
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 Oh dear,a right bunch of grumpy people posting on here. The fact is they paid their money, and thus were entitled to moan, if they so wished. Nothing for people to get their knickers in a twist about. Like some have stated, it will be a norm next season, so I guess we will all have to get used to it.
Carlos88LCFC Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I am shocked to hear people were booing. If I was a player in that team I would be ****ed off to hear people booing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
maynefox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I agree with most of you!But to be fair I had a "plastic family" stood next to me, and their kids were fine and although they were right at the top of the Kop standing up, they didn't moan. All 4 of them stood and clapped at the final whistle and chanted, so fair play to them.
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 9 April 2014 Posted 9 April 2014 I am shocked to hear people were booing. If I was a player in that team I would be ****ed off to hear people booing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I genuinely didn't hear anyone boo other than at the Brighton players slowing play down towards the end
