Last nights pitch invader vs Brighton

Or crossed the street when the green man wasn't on?

Take it if you got a ridiculous punishment for any of the above you'd just take it and shut up cause you knew the consequences?

What crime is that then?

It could be argued that the ban is fairly excessive, but it's hard to have much sympathy when the club made it very clear there was to be no pitch invading and that a lengthy ban would be the probable outcome.

Mind you I wish him all the best in his appeal for a reduced ban.

Although I agree that a ban for the whole of next season is harsh.

I don't agree with the number of people saying he should be banned until the end of this season. That means he's actually only getting a two match ban for running on the pitch. To me that is too light, and if they were only handing out two match bans then there would be many more doing it week in week out.

I'm surprised a fine wasn't involved in the punishment though.

Given the circumstances, you don't think a ban to the end of this season would be sufficient? He made an error of judgement and has done what he can to make up for it.

No a ban to the end of the season isn't enough if they wish to dissuade others from going on the pitch.

Have you ever illegally downloaded music or watched an online stream of Sky Sports?

Or crossed the street when the green man wasn't on?

Or spat your chewing gum out on the pavement?

People do those things because it's unlikely you will get caught, but yet do so knowing it is illegal and knowing there could be consequences. You are going to get caught going on the pitch.

Did this guy run on the pitch because previous pitch-invaders hadn't received harsh enough punishment? Or do you think errors in judgement like this don't really take into account the deterrent factor people keep going on about as if it were an established fact?

I don't know why he decided to run on the pitch.

You can't measure stats on people being dissuaded from doing something, but it's basic common seen that they work. Only way to prove it would be if you have the numbers prior to any law change/punishment change to compare then and now.

Drink driving is illegal but people still do it knowing the consequences, if the punishment was a slap on the wrist people would be driving home from the pub pissed every day. Similarly if they let pitch invaders off with no punishment there would be people trying it more often.

There was no malice clearly, if there were he'd probably be facing a much bigger ban than he is.

Feel as a set of fans we've let the pitch invader down. If we all went on when he did he wouldn't be banned

Rubbish.

We're not American :)

Not just illegal in America!

Try walking across the road without the green man in Germany and everyone on the street will give you evils!

He didn't know no one else was gunna run on the pitch though, so he could be thinking the likelihood of getting caught was extremely low.

You can get up to 3 years in prison for illegally downloading a movie online.

You are telling me now that if you got that sentence you would just take it and shut up?

I would follow the correct procedure and appeal, after that I would accept it. what would you do? rebel without a cause.

Let's be honest, he'll have his ban massively reduced once the season is over and there's no danger of people invading the pitch in our remaining home games.

Running on the pitch should not be a criminal offence anyway. I take it that's a hangover from the days of hooliganism.

Very harsh if it's upheld for next season.

I find the people who say the max punishment is warranted are the people who want to invade but don't dare.

It's ironic that a fan is banned from now seeing the very thing he was celebrating. Do LCFC have common sense? The outcome of this saga will let us know.

Blimey there's a lot of high horses in this thread.

Hope none of you have ever made a willy puller gesture at a game unless you're 'prepared to do the time.'

Feel for the bloke here. Silly thing to do but common sense should've played a part here. Completely unthreatening and didn't interrupt play whatsoever.

Call me paranoid but I don't want to put the email up here cause I don't want the club knowing who I am, as I genuinely wouldn't put anything past them

But he basically said he sympathises with my thoughts but the boards around the ground warn of what can happen and that my email will be passed onto the relevant department.

He also said my email will be used in reference for the banned supporter.

Pretty straight forward reply

Really do urge anyone who thinks the punishment does not fit the 'crime' to email [email protected] and let them know.

Or you can just sit back and do nothing as a fellow Leicester City fan misses our first season in the Prem for 10 years over a moment of joyous madness.

If you can't do the time, don't do the crime!

Said on many occasions on Tuesday going on the pitch will not be tolerated, he went on the pitch, punished. End of!

The other 29k fans managed to reason it wasn't worth it!

lol Funnily enough, I was threatened by a police officer at Forest to stop doing the willy puller sign or he would arrest me. I then pointed out to him on several occasions of Forest fans doing it to which he would do nothing.

Forests the only ground where I've been told by a copper to stop doing that as well, weird bunch.
