Babylon Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 If that was the case then the club wouldn't be releasing tickets only to people who attended 8+ games. So they should have bought a membership then and saved money. People living remote probably attend more aways than homes, in which case the membership wouldn't have saved money. Would love to see your research into that.
LCFCpele Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 I agree that the club really can't please everyone for this game, just thankful that I managed to get a ticket (was a STH up till 2011) The only hole that I can pick in the 8+ policy is that there will be fans like me that have been to more than 8 games this season but didn't buy 8 tickets because sometimes my mates have ordered them. Definitely feel for those that will miss out
HEGGSY Posted 30 April 2014 Author Posted 30 April 2014 Can you imagine if we didn't have a 32500 capacity stadium. it'd be carnage.
stripeyfox Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 OK technically guaranteed they wouldn't be. But two of the biggest games in recent history and they both went on sale to members who had their pick. So the facts are, if you had a membership you would have got a ticket. I accept I am being pedantic about it (it's what I do). Being a member definitely increases your chances of getting a ticket and as you say, probably effectively guarantees it. Can you imagine if we didn't have a 32500 capacity stadium. it'd be carnage. Maybe we could put up a temporary stand?
Babylon Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Can you imagine if we didn't have a 32500 capacity stadium. it'd be carnage. Probably why so many don't bother with memberships etc, tickets are almost nailed on. At Filbo we always got memberships if we didn't have a ST as you knew with such a small capacity you had no chance with any remotely big games.
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 I'm guessing the club know from their database roughly how many people meet the 8+ games criteria - 500 seems about right for the number of non-members/STHs attending 8+ games in a season. Good luck everyone... Now you are just being plain silly, what on earth makes you think that people can just rock up and que for tickets. And as for the clubs data base FFS when has that ever worked, if it did then the club could quite simply use it to allocate tickets, depending on the criteria being used and advise the potential purchaser accordingly and by what date to purchase their ticket by and then move on to the next batch of potential purchasers. And what's with the obsession with THIS SEASON. So the last 5, 10, 20 or more years are of no interest to the club. Cheers thanks for that. And just how many people have obtained tickets expected to see some sort of gig after the game ? I really do hope that they don't come on here moaning if it fails to occur.
stripeyfox Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Yeah I'll be pissed if I have to sit through some crappy football match before Sam Bailey/Kasabian/Englebert Humperdink comes on to play....
Vicki Vixen Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Now you are just being plain silly, what on earth makes you think that people can just rock up and que for tickets. Umm, it says so on the official site: http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/290414-doncaster-tickets-update-1518601.aspx And besides, my post said nothing about rocking up for tickets, it was a suggestion of why the club might have set the criteria at 8+ games as opposed to 7+ or 6+.
Vicki Vixen Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Would love to see your research into that. No research, just the simple logic that people are more likely to attend games which 1. cost the least to attend (travel and ticket price combined), and 2. take the least time out of the day, at least if they have a life outside of football
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Dear VV rock up Actually means to arrive without any prior planning, or specific materials. 1. Do I need to make an appointment? Nah, just rock up. Which is what the club is expecting the fans to do

urban.spaceman Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Seriously annoyed at the club for not releasing tickets to the general public sooner, while at the same time giving DMU students tickets for £6 when they have people like me who are desperate to go and willing to pay £30-50. Seems like a stupid business move and a bit of a slap in the face to those who are lifelong fans whose situations prohibit them from attending regularly. Seriously annoyed at the club for their quite unfair criteria for those without membership for this fixture. Seriously annoyed at myself and my dad for forgetting to renew our memberships this season. Seriously annoyed at myself for my sporadic employment and resulting low income barring me from attending more matches this season. Who would have thought that would come back to bite me in the arse?! Seriously annoyed at the people who are inevitably going to call me 'plastic' for having other commitments and being poor due to low employment. But most of all... What a fvcking awful booking system! I could never get the hang of Wednesdays. Aaaaaghhg!!!
Tommy G Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Anyone been down? Bet its an absolute dog fight down there
FoxInBlue Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Anyone been down? Bet its an absolute dog fight down there At about 8.45am there was already a queue forming as I drove past for work.
Tommy G Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 At about 8.45am there was already a queue forming as I drove past for work. Anyone with plastic rain coats on?
FoxInBlue Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Anyone with elastic rain coats on? I was too busy waving my season ticket to notice....sorry that was naughty of me
PAPA LAZAROU Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 I have never understood why a season ticket holder is allow two tickets in the first place. They get their match day tickets at a lower rate anyway so why this unfair perk of two tickets ? all the creepy fair weather fans must have been arsh*oling around their season ticket mates having never been to a match all season , while the real supporters who can't afford a season ticket but try to go to as many games as they can afford get ignored. As I said can anyone explain just why season ticket holders are allowed two tickets each ?

How do you know the ST holders mates haven't been to exactly the same amount of games as those of you complaining? There's a whole heap of assumption on both sides of this debate.

Which goes back to my initial point of them probably not going to many games.

As I said can anyone explain just why season ticket holders are allowed two tickets each ? This assumption that all season ticket holders are taking every ticket offered to them and giving them out to a load of people who don't normally go... where is this coming from exactly? The stats posted on here the other day shows the take up by season ticket holders for the Man City game was actually quite low. Out of my mates, the 4 season ticket holders have taken only two extra seats, all going to people who are previous season ticket holders and who make it down fairly often. I'm sure it's a fairly similar story for many. Why give them to season ticket holders, first and foremost it's a marketing technique to shift tickets and to try and encourage potential season ticket holders, who might fancy going with people already have a STH. There is no real benefit to the STH themselves, other than making them feel like they have a benefit. The club don't really give a shit if you've been to 2 games, 5 games, or 10 games. They just want to shift the tickets, and it's another way of doing so. We had all of this discussion about the Man City game, the simple advice back then was to get a membership, the advice is still the same and the advice will still be the same next season.

Don't you know a season ticket holder that you could get a ticket from, if all these fair weather fans do?
mr wright Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 I will do my best to explain why. Alot of sth have there heads firmly implanted up there own a-holes and think that because they own a st they own part of the club. These are the same peaple that think they pay the wages of the staff that work at the store that they shop in. In an effort to keep these peaple happy the club make the mistake of giving them extra tickets in an attempt to offer them a sense of power as they then chose who gets the tickets. Fact is this is not fair but it is the way it often works im afraid. Fyi i am a sth
