oxford blue Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 Interesting article on Premier League accounts for 2012/13. Apart from the main article, the link to the other accounts shows QPR wages were - at 128% of turnover - the only club to have wages more than their turnover. Man City had wages of £233m, but their turnover was in excess of this. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2014/may/01/qpr-higher-wage-bill-than-atletico-madrid I'm sure QPR wages this season will be lower, but I expect them to high in comparison to turnover, given the size of their ground and shortage of other income streams. If they don't get promoted, even with the parachute payments, I can see them needing to offload many players before next season to comply with FFP. Perhaps we can get Charlie Austen at a reasonable price!

Leicesterpool Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 Doesn't surprise me actually, I won't be surprised if there still paying for wages for players who are no longer at the club!
foxes_rule1978 Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 Doesn't surprise me actually, I won't be surprised if there still paying for wages for players who are no longer at the club! Indeed, they will be paying them well into retirement...

Except he got Spurs into the top 4 twice and he turned Bale into a world class player.
Saxondale Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 Haha! Superb! I really hope they don't win the play offs. They never deserve it. Brighton are my top tip - though I can just see those jammy bastards sneaking through and the inevitable media Harry bumfest.
Guest MattP Posted 1 May 2014 Posted 1 May 2014 Except he got Spurs into the top 4 twice and he turned Bale into a world class player. He tried to swop him and 6 million for Downing
MPH Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 When Bale was still a LB, it might be a crazy memory; but I thought we were linked with him at one stage...
MPH Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 The Sun report that we are after Gareth Bale and Chris Gunter from Spurs
Vicki Vixen Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 I have more sympathy for QPR than most it seems. Their fans weren't the ones who spent all that money, but they are the ones who will suffer the effects of it, just like we have done for the last 10 years. Also worth pointing out that our wage bill also exceeds turnover - in the 2012/13 accounts we filed £19.55m turnover and a £22.95m wage bill. While we haven't taken any where near the risks that QPR have in the last couple of years, and we are getting our finances in order while they continue to bury their heads in the sand, I think the similarities between the 2 clubs are closer than many people would like to admit.
MrSpaM Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 Funniest thing is if they fail at the play offs they arnt going to be able to buy any more players and their decent players are going to leave. Can see them doing a Portsmouth.

Their fans are still blindly following the owner and requesting he keep spending to get them into the premiership so I really do struggle to have sympathy to be honest.

They'll be facing a transfer embargo next season if they dont go up if the ffp rules are actually enforced.

Pride_Of_The_Midlands Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 He tried to swop him and 6 million for Downing If it weren't for Harry, Bale would still be an average left-back.
One Legged Beaver Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 If it weren't for Harry, Bale would still be an average left-back. Wasn't that more to do with Bale's incredible attacking performance from left back against Inter?
Corky Posted 2 May 2014 Posted 2 May 2014 If it weren't for Harry, Bale would still be an average left-back. If it weren't for Harry, Assou-Ekotto would still be a left back prone to be a liability.
