Biggest disappointment at World Cup 2014?

Come on someone seriously talk to me about this France thing.

Their group is shite and they looked amazing against Norway mid week.

Just the fact that they have been perennial disappointers for the past decade. I don't actually rate their squad that highly, especially if they're relying on Giroud to score the goals.

Benzema? Remy? But anyway, Giroud will score goals against the likes of Switzerland, Honduras and Ecuador I'd imagine. They've got a decent set of players, can't see anything else other than group winners followed up by a Quarter Final exit at worst.

No, and erm, no.

Erm, that's why I used a question mark because I didn't know.

Finalists in 2006 and QF exit at the hands of the winners in 2012 is hardly 'disappointing'.

Hodgson's a steady manager but that's all. "Steady". He's not an idiot but he's too conservative for me.

The thing is I don't think I'd have anyone else at the minute. We're hardly spoilt for choice. Keep him on.

I reckon the disappointment will be Germany, really not a fan of their manager and as soon as they come up against a big team I'd expect him to get his tactics wrong again and for them to get knocked out.

Remember when Wenger turned us down? For all his faults I think he'd have worked wonders for us at that level; could see him opting for the "merit over name" strategy that Hodgson promised that he appears to have reneged on a bit by his continual use of players clearly not good enough, and I say that as a Hodgson fan.

I really like Hodgson as England manager, even if we are quite defensive especially against the fancied teams. If we drew 0-0 with Italy and Uruguay and beat Costa Rica (even if only one nil) and then scraped past anyone one nil in the last 16 then maybe last 8, I wouldn't give a shit.

I think we will get through the group and I'm happier having Roy in charge than any previous managers in my life time

Well he should give a shit, we'll always be crap with that attitude. If we're not going to win it I'd rather us try to play decent football and develop a team into one decent to watch and with some potential to test good teams.

Oh I see you took a fact that I said and tried to take the piss out of it.

Not really sure how that works?

Just did my predictions for the place I used to work and have Chile to top their group, with the Dutch going out at the group stage and Spain losing to Brazil in the last 16....so I'm probably going to look like a fool in 3 weeks time when Spain have tika-takad everyone senseless and Robben has beaten the world single-handed....

I'm also gambling on Suarez's injury disrupting Uruguay's tournament. They were pretty flaky in qualifying (finished 5th behind Chile & Ecuador, remember) and play Costa Rica first, probably without Suarez....a 0-0 shut-out in that match, a half-fit Suarez is rushed back too early and they cock it up against England, too....you heard it here first!

Biggest humiliation could be Mexico. How the hell they qualified, I don't know. I reckon they could lose all 3 to Brazil, Croatia and Cameroon, and return home to a shower of rotten tortillas and refried beans at the airport...

This is one of the worst things I have read, just shows how far we have fell.

We are defensively against every team we play, Peru at home last Friday he played with two holding midfielders in Gerrard and Henderson, that is crazy. He plays with Danny Welbeck on the left of midfield, even though he is an attacker that is negative because Welbeck will track back and work, not play an attack minded footballer who will attack defenders.

I will back Hodgson through thick and thin in the World Cup, I want us to win every game and I will be gutted when we are eliminated but if we have left the World Cup playing in a negative manner then I will be hoping for the departure of Roy Hodgson.

Think Italia will make it to the final.

I think they'll crash and burn without Montolivo.... Or at least last the group stages and lose out on the quarters

Yeah the last World Cup as defending Champions was a great success mate..

Winners of WC 2006

Finalists in Euro 2012

Andrea Pirlo

Never underestimate Italy

Euro 2004 - Out in Group

World Cup 2006 - Winners

Euro 2008 - Limped through group, out next round

World Cup 2010 - Out in group stage, finished bottom of the group

Euro 2012 - Finalists, granted. Won 2 games in the whole tournament in 90 minutes. Lost the final 4-0.

So in the last three tournaments they have won 3 games in 90 minutes. lol

Myth side.

.....bit of an over statement, he's a good player to have in and around the squad but with Pirlo De Rossi and Marchisio around he was hardly ever likely to even start.
