FOXES-BROWNBOY Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 We have been lined with many strikers but how many do we need? And which strikers do you think we will buy?
Captain... Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 I don't know how many we need but with in a squad of 25 we probably have room for 5 and we currently have 4 assuming Nugent signs, so I expect only one more in unless Nuge or Wood depart.
MJ27 Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 If you look at the other teams which stayed up last year, their leading goal scoring strikers: West Brom: Berahino – 5 Hull: Jelavic – 4 Sunderland: Borini – 7 West Ham: Carlton Cole – 6 Palace: Dwight Gayle – 7 We are not going to score many goals, getting 10 goals for one striker will be impressive! Nugent, Vardy and Wood are all capable of this. If we play 1 up front, with three behind (Knocky, Mahrez and Albrighton???), there are goals galore in the front 4. So I honestly don't think there is as desperate need for a striker as some think. One maybe needed, but no more.
lcfcsnow Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 Quality not quantity. Sadly it's looking like the latter.
jammie82uk Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 We could always go stir crazy and get DJ Campbell he is available again he's on blackburns transfer listed players list that they have just made public
Dickov22 Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 Quality is what we need. I don't think Nugent, Wood or GTF are good enough. We need someone top class to play with Vardy in my opinion .
Sir Fynwy Posted 24 May 2014 Posted 24 May 2014 In a 25 player PL squad I'd expect 3 keepers, 4 fullbacks, 5 central defenders, 4 wingers, 5 centre midfield and 4 strikers would be a reasonable balance, obviously plays that can cover multiple positions would change this.
Aus Fox Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 I like the idea of playing Knockaert in behind Vardy. With albrighton on one side and Mahrez on the other Drinky and James in the middle. Goals from everywhere without having to rely on one 20 goal a season striker, with the likes of wood and Nuge to come of the bench
Hack Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 Quality is what we need. I don't think Nugent, Wood or GTF are good enough. We need someone top class to play with Vardy in my opinion . Are you happy with Vardy as our Quality Striker? But not Nugent and wood. Vardy was a dog a year ago and a hero (rightly) now. Don't write off the others either.
Mark Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 I like the idea of playing Knockaert in behind Vardy. We had the opportunity to try that last season especially after being promoted but not once did it happen. Even GTF was preferred there.
bluebeau Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 imo we have strikers/forwards that will get goals in the Championship, but strikers in the Prem. are in general a higher quality. They are up against quality defenders so it's more difficult to find the back of the net. I am not a pessimist but I try to be a realist & therefore I regret to say that I feel we do not have a striker that can guarantee us goals. We do not possess a good target man (Emile Heskey) or a goal poacher (Tony Cottee). These are positions that NP will have to spend big money imo.

This is 2014 and we are not West Ham, we don't need a big man/little man combination, we are not going to lump it up to the target man for the poacher to feed off his flick ons, thank god. Get out of the nineties and embrace Nigel Pearson's attacking brand of total football.
Happy Fox Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 2 strikers, a similar striker to Vardy i.e Campbell ( Fraizer that is) And a prolific target man abroad Pelle for e.g.

What about a 3 years younger Kevin Phillips, not good enough for you?
lgfualol Posted 25 May 2014 Posted 25 May 2014 A couple. Thinking about all those chances we had and missed last season. When he had about 30 shots and scored 2. Cant do that in ze premprem.
