NewquayFox Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 In Pearson we trust, just wait and see, you will be happy......
Rob1742 Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 Not sure what the percentage is of targets versus signings, but it tends to be a moving feast. A while back I was aware of a managers list he wanted for the following season. He had around seven names on it and he managed to get zero. The club in question still had a very good season, with signings that he never initially thought of. So it's a moving feast, lots of competition and lots of agents wanting the best for their players. We would not be the top pick for many players that is for sure.
Candidcamera Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 Is it my perception of what has happened in previous years but it is not the players that agents are pushing and the media pick up on that we actually sign.
NewquayFox Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 I have not seen any evidence of Pearson stating that any of the above players were his 'targets' or any others so far, he knows who he wants and when the time is right he will make a bid...

Fox Ulike Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 https://soundcloud.com/skysportsradio/transfer-talk-2906 In the new installment of sky sports transfer-talk radio, Everton are to sign G.Barry, and Crystal Palace bid for Campbell. Adding to our disappointment Graziano Pelle is apparently about to sign for Southampton, but what did we expect? What are your thoughts, and if we lose these players, who do we go for? My thoughts are: We don't need Barry. Good player yes, but another Matty James is not a priority. Pelle has reached the age of 31 without most football fans in England having even heard of him. He looks average on his own Youtube video. That's a bit like watching a poor movie trailer and thinking "Jeez if those are the best bits that movie must really SUCK!" £8m is a lot on a player who is past his best and has spent most of his career in Italy's Serie B. Campbell I would be disappointed if we missed out on him. But he's gonna want to explore all options available to him. So let's wait and see on that one. In conclusion: DON'T PANIC.

DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 I get the feeling that some people don't believe we CAN make big signings.
chapero82 Posted 30 June 2014 Posted 30 June 2014 I get the feeling that some people don't believe we CAN make big signings. Well I seriously don't think we can or will tbh I cannot remember LCFC ever signing a big name player but we have a made some

If you mean are we going to spunk £10m on a foreign player that none of us have heard of, then the answer is probably No. Our time and resources are being spent getting players like Schmiecal and Drinkwater to sign long contracts, rather than looking for the next Ricky Van Wolfswinkel.

Yeah, but none of us heard of Mahrez before right? He turned out great, the problem is players in the english league that WE know, are over valued. No point in paying big money on players you know in some regards. Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk

lcfcbobby Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 I can see the point in signing him to an extent! he would bring a vast amount of much needed Premier League experience and he has a solid head on his shoulders, his ball distribution is second to non and his vision is great. If we give him the higher wages we all know he will want we will be signing a top quality player and as he will be on a free it kinda means we can offer more in wages. I'm not saying give him wages of 100k a week but just using it as an example: We offer him 100k a week on a 2 year contract that equates to a total of 10.4million. If we were to sign someone else we would have to pay 7million at least for a player half as good as Barry who has no Premiership experience and could well be a big flop and then on top of that then there is the players wages so if we offered that player a 2 year contract over the 2 years we will be paying more then the 10.4million that we would have spent on Barry's wages. Also there is the fact that at the back end of the season Pearson was looking at playing a 4-5-1 formation in preparation for the Premier League so if we were to have Barry playing as your holding midfielder infront of the back 4 it would then allow Drinkwater, James and king (which ever 2 are picked) to be our box to box midfielders which I think is a good shout and also he would be able to develop the 3 of them even further. And finally after his 2 year contract is up he would be another good addition to our coaching staff.

A lot of threads are commenting on the amount of wages,is that person worth this etc.The owners have a lot of money that they want to invest. The question should be whether this player improves the team or squad. Barry would be an invaluable signing to leicester so would be worth whatever his market value is. same with Ulloa etc...
lcfcbobby Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 I'm not saying anything about Barry's worth I was just using them figures as an example. What I was trying to get at was he would be a key player for us and everyone saying his wages would be expensive i was just trying to explain to people that he is on a free and if we were to buy someone it would work out more expensive in the long run through fees and wages. I completely agree we should sign him. but I disagree with Ulloa and besides Hypia has recently said he wants to keep him and brighton will not be selling him to anyone.
Thracian Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 People do believe anything nowadays, Barry was a star last year, why the hell would he come to Leicester? Why wouldn't he come to Leicester? It's hard to imagine a more ambitious club a club - and with the collective clout to take those ambitions forward. What have Everton achieved this last few decades? And what has Liverpool to offer apart from a seaport and the Beatles exhibition that we don't?. I get sick of small-minded attitudes that would serve to act as brakes on any attempt to move forward. Especially on the sports scene where this City has held its head up in so many sectors and now seems set to be joined by it's football club - and I don't mean the one that uses hands to get its pleasure! .

But the point is that we don't have a bottomless money pit. The objection to Barry is because other areas need improving with quality players before centre midfield does. Put it this way - which area of the team do you have most faith in making the step up to the prem: Midfield: Drinkwater and James Strikers: Vardy and Nugent Defence: Morgan and Wasileski For me it's easy: Drinky and James. So I don't see the point spending big money improving our best position. It we're going to spend big money to improve the team it needs to be spent improving the weaker areas of the team.
Guest Posted 3 July 2014 Posted 3 July 2014 Nobody can seriously think we have any chance whatsoever of getting Barry? #nuts
