StanSP Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 http://talksport.com/football/leicester-make-ambitious-move-england-midfield-man-14052692911? Newly-promoted Leicester City have approached free agent Gareth Barry in a move to bolster their squad with Premier League experience. Foxes boss Nigel Pearson sees the England international, who impressed in his season-long loan deal at Everton, as a key target in helping the club adapt to the big time. Barry has been released from his parent club Manchester City, but Everton have not yet tried to turn his stay at Goodison Park into a permanent one. If Leicester do pursue the 33-year-old's signature, a potential stumbling block would be Barry's wage demands and length of contract. Leicester have been busy in the transfer market since their return to the top-flight - snapping up Aston Villa's Marc Albrighton, former England defender Matthew Upson and Manchester Unitedyoungster Jack Barmby.
Soar Fox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Wouldn't mind him here, but unfortunately can see him going to to someone like Everton or West Ham.
SMX11 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I don't see it happening but it would certainly be a great signing. Vast experience at this level.
Guest kristianity77 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Oldie, but more importantly, bags of experience.
Stadt Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Good player, had he not been so agonisingly slow even in his prime, I reckon he would have been world class.
johnny the fox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 If he's done that good, why haven't everton snapped him up already?
KFS Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Have talksport ever called any of our transfers? He'd be a great addition, he was solid for Everton last year. We could play him in front of the back four very easily. 2 year contract, sorted.
RizLCFC Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 He'd be a brilliant signing, was very good for Everton, bags of experience too!
ScouseFox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 would be great but as said up there i assume everyone outside the top 4 would happily sign him up, so we'd have to make ourselves more sellable than the likes of everton, southampton, newcastle etc. possibly but not likely imo.
artursteppe Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Few noticed, but in my opinion he did more to get Man City their title two years ago, than anyone else. The forwards got all the plaudits, but Barry was superb. Would be absolutely brilliant if we could get him.
Webbo Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I can't seeing him signing for £30k or even £40k. Doubt if there's much in this.
Richard Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 If he's done that good, why haven't everton snapped him up already? He's reluctant to halve the wages he was on at City. This is most likely his agent giving paper talk and making Everton cough up more money
davieG Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Christ, what does that make me?. A darn sight younger than me.
KFS Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Apparently his last reported salary was 120k a week (2013) NEXT!
kingfox Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 This would be some coup, can't see it though, he was quality for Everton.
Moto Hello Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 I was at uni with his cousin who told me that Barry never wanted to leave Villa and was pushed out by O'Neil and the owner. He's wanted to move closer to home ever since but only had good offers from teams in the north west.
foxes_rule1978 Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 Apparently his last reported salary was 120k a week (2013) NEXT! Hehe, well we can offer a bag of peanuts, you can't say no to that...
Beliall Posted 26 May 2014 Posted 26 May 2014 would love to see that happen ,but if it means high wages then he can do one
