st albans fox Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Conspiracy theorists would say that he is coming here and this is everton's way of showing their fans that they didnt lack ambition and it isnt financial reasons forcing him to move on. 11m seems a lot of money for them to commit to a player of that age. time to close the thread?
Jace Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Stupid money and contract for a 33 year old Everton can have him if thats what they are willing to pay

Rich Fox Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 I am not to bothered didn't want the James Drinkwater partnership broken up. Crazy money for an average player, need to look abroad I think
Fox Ulike Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Can't understand the negativity over Barry. We've signed better quality footballers at City in our time and we're entitled to set our sights as high as we choose. If City are as ambitious as they suggest I could imagine Barry doing far worse than coming here. And a lot of other half decent players. I don't think anyone is being negative over Barry. Believing that Matty James and Drinkwater are good enough without adding Barry into the mix is a positive thing. If anybody is being negative it's those looking to ditch Matty James from the first 11, or shoe horn Drinky into a role he's never played before. Given that we have a finite budget, does it make any sense whatsoever to spend £11m to reinforce the strongest area (Drinkwater/James)? That money could easily buy a top striker or central defender. Was is 34, and so his replacement is where the big money needs to be spent.
Jon the Hat Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 I am not to bothered didn't want the James Drinkwater partnership broken up. Crazy money for an average player, need to look abroad I think You can say not worth the money, or that it would be a mistake to break up our central midfield for him, but you really cannot say Gareth Barry is an average player. That is just comlpete nonsense.
Simmo86 Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 I am not to bothered didn't want the James Drinkwater partnership broken up. Crazy money for an average player, need to look abroad I think Average player lol Have you watched any football for the past 10 years?
surrifox Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Stupid money and contract for a 33 year old Everton can have him if thats what they are willing to pay agreed. Good player though you would have to think his best days are not even visible in the rear view mirror. (I thought Everton were always pleading poverty!) Trust Nige to spend that sort of dosh much more effectively and on players with more shelf life
dmayne7 Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/gareth-barry-transfer-everton-preparing-3642837 Next Sorry are people taking that seriously?! Everton don't have much money so aren't going to spend £60,000 on a player of Barry's age then go and offer him a 3 year deal! Oh and that's not mentioning anything to do with the fact that they supposedly paying 2 million for an out of contract player
suffolk fox Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 They'll be dancing on a Saturday night in Leicester if that signing comes through... I don't want to throw Mud but that sounds like a load of Rubettes to me. Next thing you'll tell me we're in for the young Irish international Gilbert O'Sullivan (could be some disciplinary issues with his "bad dog" antics) and that Big Barry White is going to be our new stopper (he's there first, he's there last, he's our everything!). Quite rolled away the stone on the year 1973 for me there, Mott...I mean, mate. Excellent it's not status quo apparently?
Steven Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Didn't say much, no surprise. £2 million as part of the loan deal and 60K a week over the nest three years.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Why don't they just wait until the loan deal runs out then offer him a contract? Save themself 2 million that way?
Happy Fox Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Why don't they just wait until the loan deal runs out then offer him a contract? Save themself 2 million that way? Probably because other teams like us want Barry!!
MPH Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 I love it how as soon as a paper says he's off somewhere people are saying he's average!
Alf Bentley Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Excellent it's not status quo apparently? Well, it's starting to look like we won't be living next door to Gareth. I just hope we're still going to be rocking all over the world and that we won't go down, down, deeper and down... Perhaps Patrik Berger could be the answer to our search for a classy left-footed midfielder? There might be better deals available in the Czech market - could be a Bohemian Rhapsody for us.
pazzerfox Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Sky Bet still expect Everton to come to some sort of arrangement to bring Gareth Barry to Goodison Park on a permanent deal, despite concerns they may be priced out of a deal. They’re evens (1/1) to wrap up the move this summer, with competition unlikely to materialise in the form of Leicester (7/1) and Newcastle (10/1). Bet on Barry’s future here.
Stadt Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 It's a myth Everyon don't have any money, of course they could spend £60,000 a week on a player.
Rich Fox Posted 4 June 2014 Posted 4 June 2014 Average player lol Have you watched any football for the past 10 years? Average when you compare him with Players on the continent on his wages. we always think English players are better than they are. Maybe average was wrong word he's obviously a top English player but we can do better than pay a 33 year old an absolute fortune. Our club has more sense these days shame some our fans don't.
