Yeah get a new graphics card. Summat like this would run it v smooth

http://cgi.ebay.co.u...=item2c5affd2b1

Just looked at my motherboard, and I only have a spare PCI Express x16 slot. Therefore, I need a graphics card within this spec that will run football manager smoothly.

Also, will I need to upgrade my power supply to add more power?

And, when I look at graphics card and it says 'DDR3 memory' or something etc, does my RAM have to be the same as this?

It doesn't matter about spare slots as you'll be taking the old graphics card out and replacing it.

If you get a power supply that isn't the same power as the mainboard, it will blow it.

No.

Shockwave flash keeps crashing on my computer meaning I can't watch any youtube. Any suggestions?

If you using Firefox on any of the 3.X versions then there is a notorious bug. I downloaded the Firefox 4 beta months ago and haven't had an issue since then, this version is now in "release candidate" mode and Firefox 4 full release should be avaliable very soon.

I've not heard of this bug affecting IE or Chrome so if you are using either of those then my only suggestion would be to either update both or uninstall both Flash and your browser and re-install.

Would this one be good enough to stop my football manager from lagging?:

Not very good with these things, hence all the questions!

Doubt that will improve ya performance, its a 5-6 yr old card. Best to go with the ATI 4670, should play FM fine for a few years yet.

I've un/reinstalled google chrome. So far so good. Now I've got a crappy search thing called 'search solver'. How can I make google my default search engine?

Usually on a web page at the top you have to click 'tools', 'options', 'general' and then there is a home page option. In the home page bit just type http://www.google.com/ and click apply.

That's for firefox but it should be similar on Chrome.

If you go into 'options' in Chrome, on the 'basics' page there will be "search" in bold type. Right next to that is a drop down menu from which you can select Google, also next to that is 'manage search engines' which you can use to delete whatever crap that "search solver" is and add any more you like.

This is just a general question about buying a PC.

My current PC's CPU is 2.0GHz but my mate says I can have his PC that he doesn't use for £20 and it has a 2.8GHz CPU. The hard drive and RAM will need upgrading (which I can do easily) but I was just wondering for £20 does the deal seem good?

Any PC for £20 is gonna be good, even if you sell it for parts on eBay. I'd question why a machine would come with a 2.8 processor, but insufficient RAM. Is it a single core or really old? If it's an old motherboard, then the RAM may not be compatible so you'd need a new motherboard and all the bits with it, which is essentially a new machine anyway.

Pretty easy to do. Which operating system are you running?

Although if it's the true administrator then you can't delete that, but you have to edit some settings. Without knowing which OS you have though I can't say how to do it! A quick Google search will help - "auto log on to user account" or something.

DB11 its running on vista

all it is, is i sent my laptop away to be fixed and they sent it back with another account on called administator so was just wondering if i could delete it or not, or if like you said i would be best of searching for an "auto log on" because when i switch my laptop on i just want it to load up lol

Try

. If it doesn't work then it means it's the 'real' administrator account so try to auto log on to your own account, which you can do by following this tutorial. Edited by DB11

Any suggestions on this particular problem people?

Recently something called 'Vista security 2011" has infected my laptop, it claims to be an anti-virus system but after a quick internet search it turns out that its a certain type of virus.

I've tried removing it in the normal uninstall programmes method and deleting it but nothing works, even a couple of suggestions I found around the web.

Does anyone have any information or knowledge on how to get rid of this problem?

Any info would be much appreciated, Thanks

It's a virus. Simply run your virus scans and particularly a program called MalwareBytes should cure it. I'd also recommend downloading and running Hitman Pro.

Can anyone help me with a CPU question.

I can't afford a new system really, so is it better to upgrade my CPU? which seems more realistic.

I currently have a AMD Athlon x64 processor @ 2.0GHz (socket 939). Dated now I know but I love my desktop, I've had it for about 5 years now and I keep upgrading it so it runs at its best.

I looked on the net and I can get a faster socket 939 processor - AMD Athlon FX-60 Dual Core @ 2.6Ghz is recommended although expensive.

So, because it is the same socket, can I just buy the new CPU and put it straight in? Or does it have to be compatible with something else like the BIOS or something?

Thanks,

I need a new graphics card, hence some posts at the top of page 90.

Just looked inside my base unit and I have a PCI x16 slot spare for the graphics card, but I'm not sure which graphics card to buy. I only want it to run FM better than what it is at the minute (lagging). I have been watching one on eBay (recommended above by another poster) but I'm not sure if I have that much room to fit it in.

I might just take a chance and buy it, but the space is scaring me and also I'm not sure if I would need a new PSU.

Using the jumpers on the actual HDD itself make sure it's set as slave and not master.

Just buy another big case with a 800 watt psu for like 50/60 quid and move everything across and get new graphics card. Then you will have plenty of options in the future.
