Can anyone tell me why my passwords and remember me options get lost when my computer crashes on me?

I've been having a few problems lately with my laptop just freezing so after I've rebooted I have to sign in on all websites that usually keep my email address normally I just have to put in my password!

Also when it crashed last night my history folder was full of the addresses I'd deleted the previous night!

Strange.

Any advice is appreciated

Cheers

got crazy problems with Vista (suprise, suprise). It keep restarting, getting to the loading screen & then nothing....it just restarts again. when it does fancy restarting, it will not recognise my external hard drives & sometimes my DVD drive is 'invisable' too. Now normally I'd just do a reinstall, but I'm worried that if i do, when it has to restart it'll do the same thing again. I've tried loading it with nothing attached (printer, ext hard drives etc) but to no avail.

Any suggestions....before i kick seven shades of shite out of it....would be welcome.

I kicked the shite out of it.......

did a reinstall of XP & the fookin thing got stuck in a loop of restarting again & again & again....so i smashed it up & bought a new one. The new one still wouldn't recognise the Maxtor external hard drive, so that got smashed up too. (Hard drive not new pc)

Lesson 1 - Don't buy MAXTOR equipment...its shite

Lesson 2 - Don't install Vista on a PC thats made for XP

Vista is shit.

Why?

I don't understand what people have against it?

I've not had a problem with it since I got my new PC in Feb! :dunno:

What are people's specific complaints?

Help is at hand again.

I have got too many windows open and all my msn contacts open seperately instead of going under 1 window. Anyone help?

In the bottom right corner normally where the clock is their should be an arrow!

If you click that it should merge them all together!

I hope

Vista if a great OS for PC's that come with it pre-installed. Trouble was my old PC was about 6yrs old & had been upgraded to fook, but still had the old Pentium 2 processor. The new one however works fine & Vista runs smooth as baby's arse.

When I turn my PC on it brings up and American Magnatrends screen & I have to press F1 to continue, then it just loads like normal, this never happened before :dunno:

Also, when it is loaded, the date/time have always reset to midnight on 19/09/07 :dunno:

& it says Windows is having trouble installing updates.

None of this has ever happened before,

& I've done virus scans & nothing has come up,

Any ideas anyone??

You might need to change the battery on your motherboard. Looks like a big watch battery. Lots of forums will tell you to copy down your bios before you change it, but if you do it while the PC is turned on, you don't need to copy your bios cos the battery is only in use when you PC is turned off. I got mine from Wilko's for about £2.

This link (http://en.kioskea.net/faq/sujet-625-replacing-the-battery-of-your-motherboard-cmos-battery#symptoms) may be of some use.

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2.4 GHz overclockable to 3.3, 6MB L2 Cache.

What are anyone's thoughts / knowledge on this, and how much do you reckon it's worth?

Laptop or Desktop?

Any one know any decent website to purchase a good laptop at cheap/decent prices?

I got mine from Dabs, they're normally quite good. Also, you might have to wait a while for the right one to appear, but Aldi have some top notch laptops at very very competetive prices.

My brother (Mrs John Murphy on this forum) is unable to get his PC working. When he starts up it asks for the emergency boot disk.

I think I'm right in saying that the Emergency boot disk that everyone should have is particular to your own PC and wouldn't work on a different PC with different specs and that my creating a boot disk on my PC and giving it to him would probably not work.

Can anyone clear this up for me pls?

When I'm on google and I search for something, the results come up as usual, but then when I click a result, it redirects me to a random website.

Something like copy-book comes up.

I think it is like a fake 'google', but whenever I type google into the URL it always takes me to this fake 'google'.

Any help in getting rid of this would be appreciated.
