I picked one of these up last week and its great, pretty much apple tv but for android. You can stream most things from your tablet, to your tv, all for £30.

Has anyone else got one, any extra tips on how to get the best out of etc?

I've mentioned this recently but I've got an Android TV box with XBMC pre installed, virtually any film,TV series or live sport for free. It's brilliant.

I'm not sure, I saw them advertised but reading the reviews the android box seemed better.

They're around £50-60.

Windows Media Center for me, been using it since 2003. Can play all videos, music, DVD, Blu-Ray, streaming video, live TV all through one interface. Shame its a paid extra through W8. Much better than XBMC imo.

Might look into getting one of these for Uni because when I'm there I use my iPad to watch football etc. So can now watch it through my tele instead, pretty good idea. This is a Google product as well? Even better.

What is the picture quality like?

What is the picture quality like?

TV and film perfect, anything live, like sport, depends on the source but usually not bad.

I just want to be able to watch Sky channels, normal TV, sports and movies/box sets in decent quality. Then I would possibly cancel my Sky subscription. It sounds like I am asking too much for that small price!

Would really recommend Plex with chromecast. It allows you to stream any media from your pc/media centre straight to the tv.

Set up the media server on your pc and import all your media into it. Download the Plex app on your phone/tablet (£2.99 I think) and you can browse the media on your app, select what you want and it'll be playing on the tv within 5 seconds.

Whereabouts did you guys get your android boxes from? Looking on eBay, but not sure who are the most trustworthy sellers. Any heads up would be appreciated.

Try Amazon, you can read all the customer reviews on there for yourself.

Box sets and films are as good as you'd get on Sky (if the films haven't come out on DVD yet it'll probably be a cam copy and not worth watching) Live channels aren't as good but still watchable.

I only bought mine about a month ago with a view to watching City's games next year on the telly rather than a monitor and we've  watched something on it virtually every day since. I watched the Froch fight on it at the weekend and although the picture wasn't HD it was pretty decent.

What's the difference between these and having an hdmi cable then? Apart from the wireless part.

You can download XBMC onto your laptop and connect it to your telly but if you're a bit crap with technology like me this makes it simpler.

Cheers. Not sure if anyone else does but I use Footyreport.net which used to be liveonlinefooty.com and the streams on that are fantastic even when you link it to the TV via HDMI. I would hope they are as good as that for live football?

Right I've downloaded XMBC. How do I watch movies, streams etc through it? Sorry if I sound like an idiot!

What add ons have you got? For films and TV series I use Icefilms mainly. One Channel mentioned above is geo protected so you'll need a proxy or VPN to watch anything on there, which is a bit beyond me.

If you have any technical questions this forum; http://www.xbmchub.com/forums/forum.php can help.

Got it sorted now. This is fantastic. Thanks a lot.

I've been trying to get OneChannel to work for the last half hour, I haven't got a clue lol.

Okay explain how this works? I assume it's about as illegal as getting streams on your pc? Is it more reliable and better quality?
