Nalis Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 I think there's money on team top scorers too. But I look at ones like Campbell and think he should be Costa Rica's top scorer if they score any goals, but will they score? They could play three games and not score. You can do no goalscorer too. At a guess, I'd say only one or two teams will score no goals at any given world cup. Even the poor teams are likely to score at least once, albeit in a 3-1 or 4-1 defeat.
Agent Fox Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 Korea wont finish bottom, I really doubt that will happen. Will be surprised if Greece do too actually. Think a few of the groups are too tight to call! I have Belgium and Algeria going through from S.Korea's group. I have Ivory Coast and Columbia going through from Greece's group with Japan beating Greece. I think it's do-able, hence the bet I suppose, ha.
Stadt Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 You can get 1/5 for any pundit to refer to Belgium as a dark horse. Who qualifies as a pundit?
Nalis Posted 8 June 2014 Posted 8 June 2014 You can get 1/5 for any pundit to refer to Belgium as a dark horse. Who qualifies as a pundit? The guys in the studio only I'd imagine, minus the presenters (ie not including Linekar/Chiles) I'd put my mortgage on that one, even at 1/5

Haydos Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 I know someone who pocketed thousands for betting on Lallana, Ox, Sterling and Barkley being in the squad. Sadly that's probably not going to come in as much as it should. Father Ted won a shit load off a couple of players being in the squad IIRC. PL v La Liga... I expect a strong tournament from South American sides and more of their players are at La Liga clubs than Premier League - not to mention Spain themselves. My housemate won ~£1700 on the Eng squad. Had two bets on, one with about about 16 'bankers' in and 1 with the same 16+5 that were't certs.
Ashley Posted 9 June 2014 Author Posted 9 June 2014 You can get 1/5 for any pundit to refer to Belgium as a dark horse. Who qualifies as a pundit? Sure it was 6/4 on Paddy Power last week
Haydos Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 What happens in the case of teams having 2 joint top scorers?
ScouseFox Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 counts as a dead heat same as joint 1st in a horse race and your stake gets halved.
Nugent Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Put this in the other thread without seeing this. Jackson Martinez, Romelu Lukaku & Edin Dzeko to be top scorer for their country treble - 30/1. Serious odds IMO. Great shout this, just had a fiver at 27/1, cheers. Also got Aguero, Immobile and Costa at 98/1 which I thought was decent odds.
Father Ted Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 I love the Dzeko bet for top goalscorer but nothing more, Ibisevic could outscore him for Bosnia - so on the whole, in the team market, Dzeko isn't worth involving at those odds. Back him at 40's though for golden boot. Fred @20/1 and can be found around 4/1 for team top goalscorer I like a lot. Won golden boot and confederations cup and will start as Brazil's central striker. Argentinian's worth a heavy look too. With a group of Nigeria, Iran and Bosnia, can see many goals flying in. Aguero is around 16's. Di Maria is 16's for most assists. Not had much time recently, but when I get a chance in the next couple of days I'll do some proper research. Serious money to be made here in singles, doubles and trebles. England to score 2 goals in the group stages (5/1) appeals also (can spread stakes across 1/3/4 however you wish to guarantee some profit should it fall within those margins that you choose).
Dan Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Argentina's top scorer in recent times isn't Aguero, or Messi. It's Higuain.
AKCJ Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Argentina's top scorer in recent times isn't Aguero, or Messi. It's Higuain. But that's like saying that England's top scorer in recent times isn't Rooney or Sturridge, it's Lambert. Point being we're not going to be looking to Lambert to fire us to glory. He's our second option.
Stadt Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 In qualifying Higuain played up top with Agüero and Messi either side according to FFT

LCFC31 Posted 9 June 2014 Posted 9 June 2014 Hence my bet on an Argentina win with Higuain as top scorer Seems like a decent bet that. With the right service, Higuain could easily get a goal a game.
