kingfox Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Have a feeling this could be a tight one. Looking forward to seeing Drmic, who is rumoured to be starting up front for Switzerland. How do you think you will get on MC? Ecuador's main threats will probably be from out wide, with Antonio Valencia & Jefferson Montero. I'm going for 1-1.
MC Prussian Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 We need to be careful when Ecuador attack on the flanks - they play a proper 4-4-2 and offer lots of quality on either wing. Defensively, they're not very consistent, though. We need to exploit their weaker left side where either Ayovi or Bagui have trouble coping. And Caicedo as well as Enner Valencia up front should not be underestimated. Obviously, they'll be boosted by an element of pride. Not just because they represent their country, but also in a tribute to "Chucho" Benitez. My main concern is our threat up front, which there is none, really. We haven't had a capable or consistent striker on an international level since Alex Frei, so we're relying on our midfielders to provide assistance (and goals). 2-1 Switzerland.
purpleronnie Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Might be the first draw, but hope you can win MC.
Jonezy Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 That Shaqiri dude is one great player and the Suisse has been consistent for a long time now. Therefore I think its gonna be a tight win for Switzerland, guessing a 2-1 win.
LeicesterBran Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Switzerland 3-1 Ecuador with goals from Xhaxa, Shaqiri and Drmic for the Swiss. And Valencia to score for Ecuador.
lc4lcfc Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Ecuador are one of 4 teams I got in sweepstakes hsha don't know much about either team but I know who I'm rooting for
Jonezy Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Defending set pieces like Leicester is not recommended....
HEGGSY Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Clark Carlisle. My god. Jackson Martinez can't get in the Ecuador squad apparently..... How long til somebody tells him.
ScouseFox Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 clarke carlisle had a nightmare there telling us how jackson martinez can't even get in the ecuador side which is kinda obvious cos he's columbian
ScouseFox Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 was a great 10 seconds of silence after too, like you know the silence when one of your mates is having an argument and you know they're making a wrong point but you just can't break it to a mate that they're making themselves look like a bellend in front of everyone here so you just stay quiet
casablancas Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 He's dropped one there hasn't he. Deary me mr Carlisle.

One Legged Beaver Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Sooner or later Shaqiri will keep a set piece on the pitch...
Jonezy Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 That Jefferson Montero on the left for Ecuador is looking a real player....
MC Prussian Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 The ingredients are all there, but we just can't link up between midfield and striker. Stocker and Shaqiri are to exploit Ecuador's frailties in the back more often. And more longshots from guys like Inler, please. Their goalkeeper doesn't appear to be too much on the reassured side.
kingfox Posted 15 June 2014 Author Posted 15 June 2014 Switzerland have certainly put the pressure on, after going behind; if anything happens though it seems likely to come from a cross or long range. Lichtsteiner & Rodriguez are getting forward well, Shaqiri has been hit and miss, while Drmic looks isolated and has been very quiet. They could do with taking Behrami off though, he has been awful. Ecuador don't look that great, Enner Valencia & Jefferson Montero, have been by far their two best players, apart from that they look average.
Jonezy Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 It really is not only Leicester, who struggles with set piece defending....
Unabomber Posted 15 June 2014 Posted 15 June 2014 Clark Carlisle is terrible He really is, him and Andy Townsend need to get in the bin.
