The People's Hero Posted 9 July 2014 Posted 9 July 2014 Just wanted to start a thread on this since I can't contribute to the lcfc forum at all, which is just as well since if I want to argue with a bunch of childish shouty people, I'll just antagonise one of or all of my kids. Anyway, a good friend of mine is really good mates with Connor Wickham and they talk regularly. He is happy where he is and reckons he might get a decent crack at it this year. No idea if there is any scope for Sunderland to grab the money and effectively push him out but I'd say that seems unlikely. No mention of Leicester per se although my mate did not specifically ask that question. Don't know if this will be of any interest to anyone and clearly it neither really confirms nor denies any reports but there we are. Cue a hundred people calling bullshit or Source???? As if I wouldn't make up a better story ! Source is someone who played with him for a while when a bit younger. Saves you screaming at me but does it make you any happier ? Thought not! Mods, move or delete, whatever.

I know that feeling. Year end week, kids grumpy and waking up half the night with immunisation fever or growing pains. My team have been brilliant the last couple of weeks though.

This would clear up not only you're thread but also the same thread in the transfer forum!

From my understanding, and I will try to update this, there has been some interest (no details of clubs) but Wickham is cool where he is unless/until told otherwise and reckons he's got a good shot at starting a lot more games there this year. Based on all that and my mate knowing he's happy where he is, I reckon the chances are slim unless we make Sunderland an offer that financially they just cannot refuse for a player in the last year of his contract and then we pay wickham a lot of money. So pretty much common sense and what has been suggested in the other thread. I will ask my mate if he will ask specifically about Leicester next time they chat though. He probably loves playing against us too much to join us!

Incidentally he used to play with wickham (year above) in youth football and reckoned even then he was absolutely a cut above. He's mates with joe ralls too - who managed to score past us last year. I didn't hear the end of that for ages.

News article about us having loads to spend and wanting a striker and a young English striker in the last year of his contract - agents will be agents. Personally, I'd like to see him join. He works hard and has something about him. Not a world beater yet, but with confidence, some nurturing and good service he could be very good. You been on the crack pipe again I'm barely off it these days mate.
