Unbelievable that this is going on on the same island as us. Glasgow is one of the best cities in Europe for Ultra culture right now, it's astonishing.

Such an exciting culture!

You look at some of the buy in from the rest of the support too, incredible!

Huge kudos for Celtic support who showed fan power works with beating off the much talked about aggressive appointment of an ex copper there as head of stadium support.

I do think it's easier for Celtic and Rangers to have a scene like this because each have a unique culture that their wider fanbases are already well aware of (how distasteful anyone else finds that is another debate) and therefore are well up for celebrating their clubs' heritage in any way possible.

That said, what they've done has clearly had an effect on the rest of Scotland too. Aberdeen will rightly point out they were the first to have an Ultras group, but the Old Firm getting involved and growing to this extent was always going to be the game-changer. It's like if serious groups got going at Man United, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea etc. Would change the attitude of the vast majority of English 'lad' types about this sort of stuff overnight.

Riveting watch this. Anyone what’s read 1312 will know most of the story - all three Istanbul clubs United on the Gazi Paek/Tamsin Square protest. The aftermath was that the Turkish Presidents party lost their the Istanbul mayoral election. It was re run again twice.

This is coming back around as the opposition leader in Turkey is that Istanbul mayoral candidate and he’s leading the presidential polls for 2023.

Also the chaos and noise at the end of doc in the game at the Olympic Stadium between Besiktas and Gala is crazy

Amazing to think we could have scenes like that within a British ground...imagine our fans doing something like that?lol...English fans always had a different mentality that the rest of the world but now its also different than countries within the UK.  England is alone in its demise of football culture. :( Kinda weird when you think about it.

Well done celtic, it was a truly amazing atmosphere that would rival any other derby around the world.

Rumour of a one game ban for this.

Just going off what you said about the groups being tamer, I'd put a lot of that down to numbers. I think all the ultras groups in England probably have a core of under 20 lads and a probably no more than double that who go with the group on matchday, while G.B and U.B have waiting lists for their sections, legions of young admirers, merch selling out in a day etc. Pyro shows like the one at Parkhead the other night are much more within the realms of possibility when you have 100 lads in the section willing to take the risks that come along with doing pyro, along with a few hundred more like minded lads backing them up. If an ultra from Celtic or Rangers gets banned there's numerous youngsters who'd be desperate to take their place in the set up, it seems much lower risk compared to groups like Palace or Boro where if 5 lads get banned thats a big chunk of their group gone.

Seems to me that GB and UB are run much more professionally and Euro-style as organised groups with a huge amount of numbers, whereas the English groups and the smaller Scottish groups seem more like big groups of mates who sing and do the occasional display at home games.

I'm in Budapest on the weekend of the ferencvaros vs ujpest game (Budapest derby).

Pure coincidence we're in Budapest for the time of this game so we've decided on going. Anyone been in the past or heard anything about it?

A friend of friend is on a year abroad there. Got himself pretty tied in with following Ferencvaros, says like unreal noise, tifo and blokes are units. Does however say the nazi shite is awful.

Nice one.

There's 6 of us going potentially but like you said with the Nazi stuff we will be cautious as 5 of us are white but one of us is from an Asian background. We'll steer clear of their ultras section and head for the main stand.

Match is on the 24th April mate.

Will let you know how we get on, watched a few videos and their ultras look a bit lively to say the least. Read up that there was a 3 and a half year period where their ultras boycotted games due to disagreements with the club but they are back now. Issues around face scanning ect apparently.
