Manchester City v Arsenal

Caballero, Clichy, Boyata, Nastasic, Kolarov, Navas, Fernando, Toure ©, Nasri, Jovetic, Dzeko

Szczesny, Debuchy, Koscielny, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Alexis, Cazorla, Sanogo

I know not everybody really get's up for it now. But we usually have a thread.

Quick note as well, not one British player in Manchester City's team. Ridiculous/disgrace.

How dare Man City not play any technically inferior English players.

Where did I say they have to play English players? I just made a point there were none.

In which, you think it's fine that our "Champions" have no British players in the starting 11 then? ... It's no wonder the National team fails... Germany won the World Cup, their best team domestically is Bayern Munich. Take a look at their starting eleven and see how many non-German's they have.

Those Germans won the World Cup that's why Bayern start them, they're good players.

Probably because Germany produces enough players worthy of playing for Bayern Munich. If we produced enough players worthy of playing for Man City then perhaps we'd be in with more of a shout of winning the World Cup. It's not Manuel Pellegrini's job to make up for our nation's shortcomings.

Not saying it is Pellegrini's job, I was just pointing it out... The FA need to step in now. That's my opinion though. Italy went through this problem, so did Spain. They both sorted it out.

It's not as if they don't have English players in their squad and besides you're getting ratty over a lineup for a glorified friendly.

Well I'm not getting "ratty", just don't agree with it. You're all suggesting things which I haven't said.

Anyway, it's 3-0 to Arsenal 70 mins in. Pleased for them.

You said it was a disgrace that they didn't have any English players playing. What else are you going to be suggesting with that comment, other than that they should be playing English players?

Silly boy.

The FA doesn't control the football league like they do in germany, spain and Italy. So they don't impose certain conditions on the clubs like they do in other countries.

For example the academy rule is imposed by the German FA rather than the bundesliga, but the premier league won't impliment those types of laws as it could prevent top global talent from joing the league.

The top english clubs have more power than similiar clubs across europe. The FA relinquished power when they formed the premier league.

Don't think I've ever seen a team less interested in this fixture than Man City in this. Particularly the senior players couldn't give too hoots about it and Arsenal are doing well to take full advantage.

I don't think the solution is to squeeze inferior English players into first teams through rule restrictions. The problem is why they are inferior when they reach that age in the first place. The lack of quality early age coaches, and the 'hoof it' / 'kick him' mentality is the biggest contributor to this in my opinion.

If we concentrated on actually playing technically good football rather than a win at all costs approach from an early age where results really are less important than development, it would help.
