Deucalion Posted 9 September 2014 Author Posted 9 September 2014 Would Pearson only buy one Portuguese player? He likes to buy in twos.
LCCFox96 Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Would rather keep Wood tbh. He's likely a cheaper option whose development we can control for our own benefit if he remains with us. We haven't got close to maximising his potential yet and shouldn't look to swap him out for an ageing replacement even if it's only a loan (Almeida will likely want a deal longer than 1 year so we'd still have him if and when Wood returned). That Norwegian player, Nordtveit, from Gladbach can play defensive midfield as well as centre back. Remember seeing him play there once on TV and he looked very good in that particular game. He could be a good option for future transfer windows.
Mark_from_USA Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 Well, he's worthy of mention. Decent in the World Cup and scored against Spain. My grandmother scored against Spain - did you catch the highlight?
midland_red Posted 9 September 2014 Posted 9 September 2014 no!!!! it did my head in checking that a dozen times a day!

Bettsj2 Posted 10 September 2014 Posted 10 September 2014 Would Pearson only buy one Portuguese player? He likes to buy in twos. Could be something in this. Danny Simpson is Portugese.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 Well, he's worthy of mention. Decent in the World Cup and scored against Spain. Yeah but you can't bring logic into things - you're meant to just dismiss QPR as anything approaching a threat immediately without hesitation. Seriously, if we'd signed Vargas the collective stiffy of this board's members would be absurd.
sylofox Posted 12 September 2014 Posted 12 September 2014 I would think there are a few reasons we only have a 24 man squad. 1 We ran out of time. 2 Nige being a yorkie felt there was no value for money left. 3 There maybe 1 or 2 left out of contract. 4 He wants to look at what he feels is a strong squad and don't want to boot out anyone in Jan to make a change. 5 Some scum bag is coming out of prison he feels would be good for us. IMO it is point 4.
Nick Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Toronto not expecting Defoe to play again for them according to their Senior Exec. I wonder if we'll try and get him?
Deucalion Posted 13 September 2014 Author Posted 13 September 2014 I bet he would fancy QPR more. London club, Harry Redknapp, media darlings. We know he is wrong but the whole PL circus is totally blinkered.
lgfualol Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Toronto not expecting Defoe to play again for them according to their Senior Exec. I wonder if we'll try and get him? Not unless he takes a rather drastic paycut
Deucalion Posted 13 September 2014 Author Posted 13 September 2014 Don't know if I'm keen on a player who tries to engineer a move away from a club while under contract. Doesn't fit with our 'team first' ethic.
davieG Posted 15 September 2014 Posted 15 September 2014 Loan star wanted by Foxes Sunderland, Latest news update: 55 minutes ago Sunderland's on-loan Argentina defender Santiago Vergini is wanted by Premiership new boys Leicester City. Vergini has cemented his place this season, playing at right-back, although he still maintains his best position is in the centre of defence and the Foxes sent a scout to the Stadium of Light for the clash against Spurs last Saturday. The 26-year-old is enjoying his second season on Wearside and recently admitted he is loving life in the North East under Uruguayan manager Gus Poyet. Sunderland wanted to sign Vergini on a permanent deal this summer after he impressed during his original five-month loan from Estudiantes, but third-party ownership issues prevented them and they settled for a season-long loan. Sunderland's starting central defenders from the Spurs match, John O'Shea and Wes Brown, are already in the final year of their contracts and could also have been under observation by the Leicester City scout.Read more at: https://www.clubcall.com/sunderland/loan-star-wanted-by-foxes-1740206.html?

lcfcnsk Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11712/9474978/transfer-news-english-sides-chasing-helsingborgs-forward-david-accam A number of English clubs are tracking Helsingborgs hot-shot David Accam, Sky Sports understands. The 23-year-old is earning rave reviews in Sweden and is currently joint top scorer in Allsvenskan with 14 goals in 19 appearances. Accam, who can play as a winger or a striker, is a product of the Right to Dream academy in his native Ghana and he spent time in the English non-league ranks earlier in his career. It was at Ostersund where Accam came to prominence scoring nine goals in 14 games, prompting Helsinborg to pay a record fee for a player from the Swedish third division. Accam has won several call-ups to the Ghana national team in the last 18 months, but is yet to make his debut. Scouts from clubs across Europe are thought to have watched the exciting attacker in action this season. The likes of Leicester, Norwich and Brighton are all thought to be monitoring Accam, with Helsingborg bracing themselves for offers for the forward in the New Year.
Chug Laguna Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 The thing that screams quality to me is joint-top scorer in Sweden
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 I remember when we were linked with Alex Gerndt and I split a log. He was tip scorer in the Swedish top tier, turns out he's decidedly average
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 17 September 2014 Posted 17 September 2014 Didn't Majeed Waris play for Forest Green's ressies too? Have they got extensive Ghanaian scouting or something?
