LCFColly96 Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Yep, it was to do with the point that there were quite a lot of people saying we should swap K+H for D+C. I think D+C will start next week whether it's in a 4-4-2 or in a 3 with Hammond/King. in your post you said that he dropped kingy and Hammond when he only dropped king and kept Hammond on nothing else
st albans fox Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 RUBBISH manager. Started with the WRONG team today. Got LUCKY with substitutions and Stoke being CRAP. Get rid of this CLOWN before it's too late. Sack often and sack hard. Eeeeee's gorra goooo Excellent Geoff - you've passed the audition to take over the drive time slot !
Guest Bilo Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Has the potential to be better than MON. I never thought I'd say that, as I worshipped O'Neill/ This team, though. Just incredible.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 Excellent Geoff - you've passed the audition to take over the drive time slot ! HA!
Corky Posted 13 September 2014 Posted 13 September 2014 The man has been great for this club, led a recovery from the depths to the Premier League whilst changing his own style and improving in his second spell with us.
Crazy Kop Corner Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 He's clearly a great man manager and now he is improving tactically we may come under pressure to keep him. I'm sure he'll be loyal to us and not be a closet Celtic/Sunderland fan like MON.
SystonFox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 If only he could swap the KOP and family stand I think his "unfinished business" would be about finished
Haydos Posted 14 September 2014 Author Posted 14 September 2014 in your post you said that he dropped kingy and Hammond when he only dropped king and kept Hammond on nothing else . It would have been a bad message to send out just dropping King and Hammond
st albans fox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 . It would have been a bad message to send out just dropping King and Hammond This is THE point. It has always been his mantra. You don't get dropped until you have done something to deserve being dropped. Will be very interesting to see if KS is fit next week. Considering that was hamer's debut, does the manager feel he has done enough to keep his place? Mahrez was sacrificed to change the system. King made way for DD ( considering both their previous weeks work they probably shouldn't have started but that doesn't fit with Nigel's mantra). Do either of these deserve not to make next weeks starting line up ? Many will say that the team that played the second 45 yesterday should be the one that starts next week. This will be interesting. I can't see mahrez not starting if he trains well this week. looking forward to the game and also to get another contribution to the book that is 'what goes on in the football mind of Nigel Pearson'.
fazzyfox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Had a horrible dream last night - Newcastle sack frog face and take Pearson as his replacement who then comes back for Vardy, Mahrez, Drinky and Moore in January. We're dooooomed!
Bramhall Fox Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Perfect post Babylon (post number 20). Spot on.
Deucalion Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 I've always been behind Pearson and I hope he can continue to build his empire here for years to come. He has some work to do to match and surpass O'Neill but I don't see why he can't do it. I do think he got it wrong yesterday though. He is not perfect and sometimes shows too much faith in a team which has had good results and does not change it. He also is over-keen on 4-4-fecking-2. He should've started the team which finished yesterday. If better players are available he should play them. I don't think he would be interested in Newcastle. One of his strengths is he believes in patient building, and his project here is halfway along. I doubt he would go until he has finished the job. Something like the Man U job might be different though. I think he will establish us as a stable PL team for a generation over the next few years. I think his likely destination when he chooses to leave will be England. Just call me Mystic Meg.
Haydos Posted 14 September 2014 Author Posted 14 September 2014 He should've started the team which finished yesterday. If better players are available he should play them. a) There were possibly issues with fitness. He shouldn't have started with the team that finished because we won. We can't be definitively saying that he should have started because they there's a decent chance they were only good for 45 mins or so. b) Bored with people saying the bit in bold as well. We're a team now, you don't just go ditching players that have done you well in tough matches. What you're saying is very short termist. Do you think King and Hammond are going to want to stick around that long if their efforts aren't recognised? They're good squad players, rushing back a half fit EC and DD to replace them is a terrible idea.
Corky Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Pearson had a difficult decision- do you bring back/ in the better players who have had injuries and aren't totally match fit, or stick with the back up choices who are in form and have worked well so far this season? He went with the second option and for the first time it didn't work out, so he changed it and we improved. Pearson didn't necessarily make the wrong decision from the start, if he'd perservered with a struggling midfield with options available then that would have been incorrect, as it was he rectified it and we won the game having improved throughout.

dedlock Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 NP first took over when we were at our lowest, got us back to the championship and into the play-offs.What occurred then we may never know. We had appeared to reverse the post MON decline. What MM, or whoever decided to appoint Sousa, did set that progress back. Thank God that sense prevailed and NP returned. He may not yet have achieved what MON achieved,he may do so or could have were it not for the sojourn at Hull. For me,whether he is as sucessful as MON,Bloomfield,Gillies or FO'F is less important than giving me back pride and positive anticipation in my team.

I've benefited from hindsight with my opinion, basically it didn't work first half therefore it would've been better to start differently. However there is a fair amount of guesswork in your opinion. How do you know DD and EC weren't fit enough for 90 minutes? EC played away at MK Dons for match-fitness and DD has had two weeks off. My guess is they would've been fine for the full 90. If the weaker team selection in the first half had resulted in us being 2-0 down at half time then there would be more criticism of the starting eleven. As we got away with it, many people have forgotten the first half. We won't get away with it every week and regardless of player's feelings, my opinion is we should play our best players.

Stadt Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Whilst Pearson isn't our greatest ever manager I'd argue he's been our most important
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 14 September 2014 Posted 14 September 2014 Keep it up Pearson, you're doing well.
