Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 Only problem is that with us doing so well, the fans expectations, especially on here, seem to have risen even higher than what we expected. Expectations higher than expected
Buzzell Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 Expectations higher than expected Common typing mistake. You know what I mean.
chapero82 Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 I'm going to judge at the end of the season in the mean time just enjoy being in the premier league
_Fatboyslow_ Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 It's not a bad haul and like a few other posters I thought that 5 or 6 was the best we coukd hope for, it's just that losing to CP and warnock just don't sit well
Raj Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 we still above liverpool??? that'll do me!! very good start to the season
maddog Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 Only 40 more points from 32 games for a top half finish... 37 more after next week
Thracian Posted 28 September 2014 Posted 28 September 2014 What's the idea of taking eight points so far got to do with anything? We had the eight points before yesterday's kick-off. The job facing us yesterday was to take something from a team with seemingly less to offer than most previous opponents yet we failed hopelessly especially in terms of our tactics and attention to detail. Some of the things were glaring. If you can't cope with a winger then the least you can do is deny him ball supply. We didn't do that. And if you can't cope with corners and free-kicks then the best approach is not to give them away. But we did. . As for our system I really couldn't believe we went for 4-3-3 which was surely a horses-for-courses system desinged to put pressure on Manchester United's seriously shaky defence...and the only likely way we could ever win the game. Four-four-two is by far our best go-to system we use and offers much better protection to the full-backs which was definitely going to be needed against Palace. The other thing I'd mention is leaving Kingy out. The bloke has been one of our best and most consistent players all season with a pass success rate to be envied last time I checked and in a division when it is so important to keep the ball. Now he's on the bench. What the hell does he have to do? Yesterday was three points dropped and there's no getting away from it. We were second best tactically and individually. Of course we've had a good start. But that'll count for nothing if we're not as wound up and tactically astute for the so-called lesser matches as we are against the bigger clubs.

I think your points are valid Tony but we are all feeling the effect of falling off cloud nine. Speaking personally, there's only one way to console my disappointment and that is to think that we are much higher up the table than we expected.

It sounds like things are going badly from reading this. But they're not. They're going very, very well. All the if's you've asked are nothing to worry about as, so far, we've shown we can sort them out. They can only be major concerns if you unfairly focus on our worst game.
shailen Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 if we keep this form up throughout the season we will finish with around 50 points, which should be enough for the top half. And we have easier fixtures on paper to come

benpicko Posted 29 September 2014 Posted 29 September 2014 You know there's all sorts of exciting essays about why 'of' can / does make sense in such sentences. Either way, I'd have taken 8 from 8, let alone 6. But I hope we don't take that sort of approach into the next two games! Would be interested in reading them, because as far as I know 'to of' currently isn't a verb. Also, 'there are' not 'there's'.
