Richard Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 The fact that Ulloa and Vardy are unknowns to united fans speaks volumes. They were 2 of the best championship strikers last season... And michu scored 15 in la liga before joining Swansea. These players are not "unknowns"
Out Foxed Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Ulloa has scored more goals then Roonpig, VP and Falcao combined this season. Just saying roonpig
Dickov22 Posted 2 October 2014 Author Posted 2 October 2014 You'd think wouldn't you? As I said Ulloa was relatively unheard of before he signed for Leicester, he will now become a marked man. How he copes with that will determine how good or bad he becomes. He was only unknown to ignorant football fans and managers that don't look outside of the premiership. There's some very good players in the championship as you saw a couple of weeks ago. The fact that Ulloa and Vardy are unknowns to united fans speaks volumes. They were 2 of the best championship strikers last season... And michu scored 15 in la liga before joining Swansea. These players are not "unknowns" It's just an ignorance that exists amongst many fans of 'big clubs'
Guest kristianity77 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Whether defences work him out or not, the thing about Ulloa is he only needs one chance. A marked man or not in future games a player will inevitably at some point get an opportunity to score and this is where he excels. His goals against Arsenal and Man U have proved this. Quick break, cross, goal, almost out of nothing. I'd be surprised if hes not around the 15 goal mark come the end of the season and no matter what, thats a cracking return on the 8m investment.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Difference is we have all been watching Man United players for years, even the new boys are pretty well known to most football fans, exceptions being Herrera and Blackett. As for Ulloa, he has hardly come from nowhere, like Michu, he has been playing in England for 2 years now, any decent support team could access tons of footage on the guy and prepare plans on how to mark. I don't believe that top 5 prem teams just turned up to the game and didn't do any research on Ulloa. When you have Michu coming from Spain where there isn't so much coverage of lower teams and lower leagues, he can be a bit of a surprise package, or even Mahrez and Knockeart coming from the Ligue 2, but Ulloa came from Brighton. Why is he going to be a success? 5 goals in 5 games is a good start, but it is the style of goals, they are poachers goals, finishers goals, headers. You don't need to research hours and hours of footage of a player to know you don't leave a striker over 6 foot unmarked in the box, but he has that goal scorers knack of being in the right place at the right time, reading the cross, finding some space, getting a run on the defender and getting something on it. He may not stay as second top scorer in the league, but he is exactly the sort of player we need and what we lacked last season, aerial presence in both boxes, strikers instinct, good work rate and attitude that is why Pearson went all out to sign him. Anyhow thought that LVG had read four books on how to beat us?? Seems he knew us well, what was he reading?? One of them 'Spit the Dog'??
Captain... Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Anyhow thought that LVG had read four books on how to beat us?? Seems he knew us well, what was he reading?? One of them 'Spit the Dog'?? The point he was trying to make, I think, was that he had a read a book on each game we had played so far, 4 books, 4 games, no wonder he didn't know what to expect from Vardy, Cambiasso and Drinkwater as they had barely featured.
ScouseFox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 can't wait for ulloa to be a marked man and vardy mahrez and Knocky to be unmarked behind him because they are unknown. and nobody even marks unknown players yano, they just let them score cos who gives one they're unknowns aren't they
Steve_Guppy_Left_Foot Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Really hoping this United fan doesn't become the new Grandad. Telling us how much he respects Leicester while being negative and championing United.

Still expect Mahrez to have a really good season too and no one knows him (even though he played in the World Cup and pretty well first few games)
CosbehFox Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Bottom line is that if Leo gets between 10 to 12 goals, he's been a success. He's half way there.
DB11 Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Even before the injuries he was going downhill, teams knew how to mark him. As soon as he was identified as a plausible threat he became a marked man which resulted in him being played out of the game, the same will happen to Ulloa (become a marked man) how he copes with that will determine how good he will become. All the more space for Vardy then!
foxfanazer Posted 2 October 2014 Posted 2 October 2014 Played against better opposition and scored more than any United striker this season so far. Just saying
