fleckneymike Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 He can. He doesn't want a coalition in reality. If Labour ever want a majority again he needs Scotland voting Labour, not knowing they can vote SNP and still get even more pro Scottish left wing Labour. Not to mention what it will do to the Labour's English vote long term. They ****ed Scotland up a while ago, completely took their eye off the ball. Luckily it is playing slightly into their advantage because the SNP won't get into bed with the Tories. This is a who blinks first election in terms of the aftermath. Either party will go into all out civil war if a strong coalition can't be formed (think Labour will need Lib, SNP, DUP and one other).
Guest MattP Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 He could literally kill labour in England and Scotland in under two years. It might look good short term to Ed but jesus it could backfire. An Lab/SNP coalition and it's a bank loan job for a Tory maj in 2020 - something I've said before could never happen again.
ealingfox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 ICM poll #leadersdebate Miliband 25% Cameron 24% Farage 19% Sturgeon 17% Clegg 9% Bennett 3% Wood 2% http://t.co/8L4PTWt1T9
Voll Blau Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 I think you may be correct. Depending on the ourcome of this election we may see schisms open in the Conservative party over europe as well as Farage failing in Thanet opens the door for a more moderate Carswell. More worringly for us soppy lefties is the lack of a credible alternative (if Johnson won't run) to Ed. Burnham and that's about it. Shame Johnson has no ambitions in that direction though.

If Scotland ever 'leaves' then we may as well all stop voting as only the tories can ever win.
fleckneymike Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Burnham and that's about it. Shame Johnson has no ambitions in that direction though. Johnson is the one for me, a convincing Labour man with the intellect and confidence to carry it out. Actually the other Milliband is the one but the unions dropped a right bollock and plumped for Wallace Milliband.

Actually the other Milliband is the one but the unions dropped a right bollock and plumped for Wallace Milliband. They didn't drop a bollock they wanted influence. They could get that with Ed . Dave was far too right wing. If Scotland ever 'leaves' then we may as well all stop voting as only the tories can ever win. Unfair isn't it. People of England want a Tory government and we have others denying it us.

Voll Blau Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Didn't Burnham stand in 2010 and even manage to come behind Diane Abbott? Finished fourth with more votes than Abbott as I recall? Reckon he's gone up a lot in people's estimations since then and is genuinely a likeable bloke, but Mid Staffs might be attached to his name forever. As said, Johnson is the ideal choice for Labour.

You're right - he edged out Abbott by about 1% finishing fourth. Think that sums up Labour membership - although I imagine a lot of them are told who to vote for.
johnny the fox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 If I was farage, I would wear a turban, thus showing his multicultural side have you got any second hand turbans for sale? can't see any on Ebay..
MooseBreath Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Think I'm going to spend the weekend sending CVs out abroad because the prospect of a labour/snp coalition is absolutely terrifying. Only caught the last half of the debate but it was all pointless. Nowhere enough detail on any issue to have any real meaning.
MooseBreath Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Did genuinely laugh out loud when the greenie promised "a stable climate". Who does she think she is, God?

I'll actually be changing my opinion on the freedom of movement in Europe if that coalition comes to fruition. Anyone with any aspiration should seriously go.
fleckneymike Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 The Guardian wrote this "Ed Milliband yearned for a TV debate that would be his audition for the role of Primeminister. As it turned out, sharing the stage with six others, he struggled even to be the leader of the opposition." Tough time to be a Labour supporter.

Some good openings in Syria right now...people from here are flocking there.

Buce Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Think I'm going to spend the weekend sending CVs out abroad because the prospect of a labour/snp coalition is absolutely terrifying... That's the most compelling reason to vote Labour that I've seen tonight..
Tielemans63 Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Only caught the last half of the debate but it was all pointless. Nowhere enough detail on any issue to have any real meaning. This is more or less exactly what I was going to post. Some of the claims and promises made were laughable - it's a free shot for anyone but David Cameron. The 3 minutes or so they allocated to each leader to answer questions didn't help as it meant that they were only ever scratching the surface. I learned literally nothing I didn't know already in two bloody hours.
