MooseBreath Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 I'll actually be changing my opinion on the freedom of movement in Europe if that coalition comes to fruition. Anyone with any aspiration should seriously go. On the flip side there will be some lucrative public sector contracts around as they indiscriminately spray around borrowed money. For anyone who can position their baskets effectively under the cash waterfall it'll be like a lottery win for a couple of years.
johnny the fox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 This is more or less exactly what I was going to post. Some of the claims and promises made were laughable - it's a free shot for anyone but David Cameron. The 3 minutes or so they allocated to each leader to answer questions didn't help as it meant that they were only ever scratching the surface. I learned literally nothing I didn't know already in two bloody hours. yeah but its the format cameron and his advisors dictated ...
MooseBreath Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 That's the most compelling reason to vote Labour that I've seen tonight.. I'll be sure to keep posting on ft, so don't fret too much.
Guest MattP Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 That's the most compelling reason to vote Labour that I've seen tonight.. Yeah let's get rid of all the all working tax payers. That'll make the country successful.
Tielemans63 Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 The Guardian wrote this "Ed Milliband yearned for a TV debate that would be his audition for the role of Primeminister. As it turned out, sharing the stage with six others, he struggled even to be the leader of the opposition." Tough time to be a Labour supporter. I thought he started strongly but ultimately was as woeful as he was in the C4 / Sky 1 Q&A. I don't think even he really believes he can deliver half of what he's promising. How anyone can think he came out on top tonight is beyond me. Performing slightly less disastrously than in your last outing doesn't make you the winner. The thing that concerns me most about Miliband is that he just doesn't seem that bright to me. He's certainly not a quick thinker and the thought of him as PM genuinely scares me.

I think with Ed that we all think he's so pathetic so when he doesn't choke on a sandwich, or gurn involuntarily, we think he's done well. He actually comes across well in his Absolute radio interview but I agree the prospect of him being in charge terrifies me (and I want him to be in charge).

He speaks like a student struggling to regurgitate things they've skim read or heard in a lecture. No real depth of understanding at all.

He speaks like a student struggling to regurgitate things they've skim read or heard in a lecture. No real depth of understanding at all. Absolutely. In contrast, I'm no fan of Nigel Farage but I do admire the guys ability to deal with awkward questions and he's clearly an intelligent guy who can think on his feet. Miliband on the other hand just doesn't show enough gumption. I thought Paxman absolutely owned him last week. So he asked some unfair questions, boo ****ing hoo, can you imagine what Merkel, Obama, Putin or even Sturgeon would do to him? Scary.

I'm not sure who I want in charge mate - genuinely. Absolutely none of them compel me to give them my vote at all. I'll probably vote Tory but only on the basis that a Labour / SNP coalition would be a complete cluster-**** for everyone but the jocks. Assuming that would be the case of course.
ousefox Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 The thing you notice about Miliband in public is that every move and every word he says feels so rehearsed and he still makes it look weird and like he hasn't got the hang of it. I'm surprised people think Farage did so well. He was poor considering what was expected of him. Clegg is the natural at this sort of thing, but nobody can take the man seriously any more. Cameron was average - a bit shaky at times. Sturgeon was impressive for me but in an easier position. The other two aren't really worth mentioning.
Christoph Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 That's the problem with this election. Miliband doesn't fill anyone with confidence but I dont think anybody can stand the conservatives for another 4 years. It's like voting for the douche to avoid the shit sandwich.

I can stand the Tories for at least another 10 years.

That was kind of my point about Ed too. He seems incapable of processing anything that's not in the script and that's not a great quality when you're PM.
Voll Blau Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Anyone changed their minds because of this debate? Apart from Plaid winning over a few from Labour, I sincerely doubt it.
Carl the Llama Posted 2 April 2015 Posted 2 April 2015 Anyone changed their minds because of this debate? I have a slightly improved opinion of Clegg, but I still wouldn't vote for him and I still don't know who I would vote for or if it's even worth taking the time to register.
Rincewind Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 Camerons thoughts on debating (spoof) http://www.private-eye.co.uk/headmasters-message
leicsmac Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 I didn't see the debate, but judging from the commentary on here as well as various results and polls, I still can't see anything other than deadlock come May time. It seems likely the Tories will gain more seats than Labour, but peoples utter lack of trust of Clegg seems pretty evident and it's going to cost them seats and probably the chance to make any kind of coalition with the Tories again. Milibland was pretty much exactly what it says on the tin, and I don't think he and the SNP will get enough to be able to form a government even if they wanted to, which they know even a sniff of would drive voters away anyway.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 What last night confirmed to me is the debates are just a bit of a faff. Nobody could have really gained anything from that, surely?
Collymore Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 My evaluation: I couldn't believe it when Farage mentioned AIDS, he might as well have mentioned Ebola too. The scary thing is that there will be uneducated/stupid people at home that will be agreeing with him or scared by his rhetoric. Horrible man and horrible party. Milliband just looks so awkward in front of the camera and it made me laugh how he would turn to the camera and say "If I'm Prime Minister" all the time. You could see Cameron was confused as Milliband was actually talking directly to him sometimes but looking at the camera! Cleggy with the "If I admit that I was wrong then everything's alright again" doesn't wash with me. Natalie Bennett Green Party woman - Awful., it's a shame for them as they could really take advantage of this election with many voters still undecided. I think her hearts in the right place but she's not cut out for TV or public speaking. If they had the SNP lady leading them they would be a force to be reckoned with. Cameron - I think he probably came out of this the best. I love his death stare and played amazing poker with Milliband - He let him bang on about zero hour contracts all night and then at the end he revealed his pair of aces with the revelation that the Labour Party hired lots of people on them! He just casually dropped this in and moved on quickly, the perfect delivery! Doesn't mean I'm going to vote for him though

Collymore Posted 3 April 2015 Posted 3 April 2015 your not a tory by any chance? just a wild shot in the dark... No. I thought Cameron was the best last night, that's all. I'm certainly left wing but the Greens are let down by some weak policies and I could never vote for Natalie, Labour are let down by Milliband. Could you really imagine that man making decisions about going to war? He'd probably have two cameras set up so he could turn to the other to say "Now I'm Prime Minister We're going to war" I think the Liberals do have some good ideas but Clegg can't be trusted. The Conservatives at the moment are probably more left wing than Labour were under Blair but they haven't been good for my profession and I couldn't bring myself to vote for them.

Don't agree about him being the best last night..though he should of been considering he dictated the set up of all the televised debates....can't stand sturgeon but she did ok... farage tells it like it is..but in this world nobody wants to listen to the hard truth..that's why the country is slowly going down the pan.
