Bert Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 Everyone slagging him off.... Would love to see you all do better? Why can't you just support the lad? If you don't have anything positive to say why bother? He's a good player. Our coaching staffs judgement on him proves that. He's versatile, quick, strong, still very young and STILL learning the game. Get off his back.

You couldn't do better is a pretty poor defence - we probably couldn't, but then we're not professional footballers who have been trained to play since they were a wee bairn and get paid to do so. That we aren't good enough to be professional footballers doesn't change the fact that his end product is sporadic at best. Physically he's good, but strong and quick isn't enough if it's not paired with some skill on the ball.

deep blue Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 The hopeless miss against Everton sums him up. Pace, but no quality whatsoever. Such a narrow-minded comment. He is very young,he had only just come on, it was his first touch in the Prem. Not surprising he was nervous. At least he had the nous to see the pass and the speed/desire to get to it. Like Col, I am perplexed why he isn't first choice at LB. Last season his performances put him well ahead of Konch, and no reason to think he can't replicate that this season. We need a LB who can do better than turn in panic onto his left foot to pass back to the keeper (sometimes disastrously) whenever an opponent is within 5 yards of him. But even more, we are desperate for some pace on that side to put the opposition on the back foot.

Mine opinion on him is not positive but I'm going to express it if that is ok. You don't have to read it as it is negative..... So please look away now. He's been here long enough and never established himself in any position. Started as a striker, was way down the pecking order so was tried and left back. Had a few good games but personally I don't think he is good enough as a Premier League left back, clearly management see this as well so now they have been trying him as a winger because of his pace. But when you have pace in abundance but no final ball, composure or finishing ability then it is useless. I don't think he should even be in the bench personally as he wastes a spot that could be filled by Powell, Lawrence, Knockaert or Albrighton. As usually only one of them four are on the bench at one time, and I think they offer a lot more. Yes he is still young, so if we want to establish him as a left back, send him on loan to a Championship team for one season playing regular football in that position and see how he is next season. But for now, the further away he is from the squad, the better.

If you don't have anything positive to say why bother? Great argument. If the standard for our team is "players who are better than me", then Nigel is going to have an easy transfer window in January. He could sign my mate Dave.
lcfcjw16 Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 He looked like he was linking up really well with ulloa in the Arsenal game. Great cross
LCFC Rennie Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 I think he'd be quite good at stacking the shelves at Tesco. He'd miss the shelf.

Still, the majority of you know better than those that are involved with things in the game and at the club. My bad.
Zapp Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 i think its a sign of the negativity setting in on this forum 6.72 6.52 7.33 5.82 6.66 6.16 these are the average ratings our own fans gave before newcastle im not saying hes brilliant, but hes good, solid, provided threat & contributed to points this season understandably people are pessimistic about the results from the club atm. but unfourtunately they speak loud so the more level headed have to listen

Father Ted Posted 2 November 2014 Posted 2 November 2014 What are people on about? Schlupp is still young. He may be erratic but so was Dyer and look at how he developed and began to use his brain. Schlupp's physical attributes also mean that he could become a good left back and/or left winger. I like the lad but he's certainly been giving the harsh end of the stick over the last couple of season's by Pearson. NP uses any excuse to drop him for Konch at left back. Absolutely criminal that Konch started this season ahead of him at left back after Jeff established himself as first choice at the end of last season.

Those ratings are good enough, just shows what a bunch of idiotic fans we have.
