Christ!

How quickly you fickle lot would give up on a player who was integral to our getting promoted in the first place?

Has his 'first touch' been any worse than any of em recently? Ulloa has looked absolutely feckin awful over the past few games, yet apparently he's Prem quality whereas Nugent isn't? Nugent thrives off quickly developed opportunities. A team who gets the ball forward quickly, to give him that half chance to quickly get a shot off. We aren't playing that way. We have seen under Pearson already that Nugent will not profit under a side playing hoof ball.

How quickly some of you will give up on our top striker of the past two seasons. I really hope he proves you all wrong.

I have always supported nugent col, and have certainly not given up on him, but as I have said he is massively out of form, and is offering nothing at the minute.

That's not to say he's to be cast away and forgot about, but when you have other strikers waiting in the wings to prove themselves, they should be given a chance.

I'd like to see what the young kid Lawrence has to offer, seems to be playing well at under 21's and if Man U gave him a first team game, he probaly isn't far off being ready.

Nugents form isn't just down to the formation, he struggled last time in the prem, and is struggling again, he/ we maybe need to accept he's going to have to be a bit part player, and not a starter, but I'm sure he has a part to play in the squad.

That's a fair enough post..

It's pretty disappointing really to see but talking to some they seem to think now he's signed his new contract he doesn't have to try so hard !

You see him on the pitch sometimes months ago he would chase down the game and fight for everything but now he seems to be lacking quality pace and I hate to say but commitment !

Others say especially UTD fans I know (I wonder why?)VARDY isn't premiership quality but I'd take him over Nugent anytime yes he's raw and needs to sharpen up a bit but with Kevin Phillips help he could be quality just imagine Vards tenacious fighting attitude with the skill of Kevin Phillips !!

Come on Nugent prove us doubters wrong !!

To only have scored ten goals from open play when you are the main striker in a team that dominated a division as we did, in a league below where are now, should be all the evidence you need to understand he is not up to it.

Shows how much you watched us last season think it's about clear to every man & his dog that Nugent wasn't even playing as a striker for a very large majority of the season last year let alone be the main one

Anyway on to my opinion, yes I agree somethings he does on the pitch do annoy me like the reluctance to shoot sometimes or the occasional run down a blind ally but I just don't understand all the hatred that he receives yes he's having a few poor games but point me to someone in the team who isn't

Also I think that he actually plays better for us away from home and has done for the last couple of seasons

mmm I wonder why that could be

He's been nowhere near his best but we look utter shite when he doesn't play. We need to find a good alternative to link midfield to attack before we can drop him it is about team balance and chemistry more than his individual performance to me. But I agree his performances have been mediocre at best.

Agree with this. It's surprising how bad we look without a player in the side that is playing so poorly. He is a problem at the minute and it feels like you can't justify selecting him or dropping him.

Nugent had the 2nd most assists in the Championship last season behind Kieran Trippier. It's nothing to do with people looking at how many penalties he scored last season.

Last season, his biggest attribute and why he was such an important player to the team was his link-up play from midfield to attack and the number of chances he created. The goals on top of that were just a bonus.

... So who were you expecting to score the goals if our main striker wasn't expected to score them?

I have to say the bench and I'm a big fan of his. He needs a goal or two (not just from a penalty) to get some confidence back. That being said, I wouldn't actually mind if Nige started him this Saturday. He'll be bang up for it against Southampton.

Voted bench.

I think that chance against Chelsea proves where Nugent is at this season. In this division we can't afford to carry a player whose decision making is too slow. Whether it's releasing a killer pass or shooting on sight, Nugent seems to always need the extra touch or moment to think and before we know it the chance has gone. It's a confidence issue.

Where's the "not on the wing but in the centre running at defenders and getting to crosses" option?

In fact, the same goes for Vardy. Both whipped in great balls on Saturday which they needed to clone themselves to get to.

It's like we're playing 4-6-0 at the minute. We're a football team, not a steam loco.

Nugent hasn't run on to a ball in a long time.

As some have said, he is good at most things but a master of none, bar musical statues, he's bloody good at that.

Sell/release/rot - he is not needed.

This reminds me of another time with Pearson.

Yann Kermorgant

Can history be repeating its self look how that one bit us on the arse in ten fold!

I would love to know how those two could be compared.

Going by the voting so far 2/3rds have said the bench

Wasn't expecting that result so far with all the doomsdayers on here seemingly blaming him for everything

He was at my gym today, guess he dropped in after training, maybe he's trying to improve his fitness? I don't think fitness is his problem at the moment
