Unabomber Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 where do you believe he belongs at this football club?
Unabomber Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Really original yeah well done m8 Cheers pal, in reality I think he should be on the bench.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 You cant get rid of a man that scored 20 goals in a title winning team.... Whilst i think his Prem days could be numbered, that would of been harsh on him, he deserved a shot as did Konch[/quote Come off it half of them were pens. To only have scored ten goals from open play when you are the main striker in a team that dominated a division as we did, in a league below where are now, should be all the evidence you need to understand he is not up to it.
LCFCSOULBOY Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Unfortunately looka as though he is not cut for the EPL. Did nothing his last chance with Burnley and continues this time around. Sadly does not have a quick enough football brain for this league. Too slow on distribution decisions. But then so do many in the team. I know watching on the TV we have a better view one would think, but I am amazed when I am watching and see the obvious pass and no one with the exception of Cambiasso tries to make the pass. Y ou can have Delat on the wing open and they will try to run it through the middle where everything is narrow. Very frustrating to watch at the moment. Can't seem to figure why we are so disjointed at the moment. Is it that the other teams since Crystal Palace and figured us out or are we just not good enough at this level. Is it NP's tactics? Only thing I know is that when I saw the list of fixtures I figured we would have at least picked up an additional 6 to 9 points so far. But just 1 from the Burnley game. At that rate we are doomed. We were even making it hard for teams to come to the KP, but sadly no longer. Second half of the Burnley game they ran us ragged. We looked desperate to hold on. NP said they don't look as good as they did last season. Well I for one would not want to play them now. Unfortunately they look to be giving teams more of a workout than we do. Queens Park look like a team that plays and competes like we should. Another team I would hate to come acroos at the moment. Who is left then you may say? Well so do I. At the moment we look like a bottom of the league side. If have to be honest we did not create and looked like creating enough to win the game. NP keeps saying it's a matter of being close and nothing in it. Well I see a huge disparity between us and others. Both Crystal Palace and Newcastle had both suffered before meeting us and neither team looked to get into second gear. Go on have your moan about all this; but let's face the truth. We look slow and disorganised. I wonder id moral is affected yet? Will keep the faith and hope that we can get a couple of results in the next few weeks before Christmas schedule. Regards to all.
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Sorry my input above is the last paragraph. I'm not up to using an iphone!
ithuriel Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 I like him but he is not good enough at this level.
Monsell1976 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 I cannot believe he keeps making the starting 11, if I was one of those strikers fighting for a starting place, I would be pissed off watching him playing as he has and still not getting a game. Time now to give wood or the young lad Lawrence a go, anybody really but nugent, he's just doesn't deserve a starting place
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Again, I think many are just missing the point. Put any of the strikers we were linked with into our current 11.. Campbell, Wickham and others. None would look any good. A striker is only as good as the chances he's provided with. As I said, the past few games our record signing has looked a donkey. Pedestrian. I beleive he's not had a shot on target in four games? Does this make him suddenly a bad player? Nah..it's indicative of him playing in currently what is a very poor side at this level. We give him a series of decent chances, Nuge will get his scoring boots back on again. So will the others.

I usually stand up for Nuge... but he was woeful on Saturday I thought, lost control of the ball almost with every touch. Appreciate the no supply thing, that's correct but it doesn't help build attacks if your forward cannot control the ball and hold up play.

I'm not just on about scoring, I'm on about his all round play, always like the lad, always thought he got unwarranted stick, but at this minute in time he offers us nothing. He's to slow releasing the ball, his touch has been dodgy, when he comes deep to collect the ball, he's either to slow to see a pass, or shooting chance, or just turns the chance down, and when he does shoot doesn't do that well. I voted bench, nothing to do with service col, he looks lost, and for me, for now offers us nothing to warrant him starting, week in, week out.

There were a few times on Saturday when he'd get the ball and be caught in possession because he was too slow in thinking and moving the ball. Nige is still trying to play him in that withdrawn forward role and he's just not got the quality to do that in this league at all
iancognito Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 I like Nugent. I really want Nugent to bag a few goals and get himself set at this level but as I said in the pre-WBA thread, he looks for all the world like a man who knows he's not quite got enough at this level. He does chase things down, he does see a fair bit of the ball but he's not getting himself in the right places and needs a few games on the bench and reserves to get a bit of form back. Some of the criticism is justified but some of it is pretty unfair too. I'd look more at the likes of Drinkwater who said he was itching to show everyone he could do it at this level and er, hasn't or Liam Moore, who's been forgiven for costing us 2-3 goals this season because he's "one of our own"
Osavo Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Bench for me. Not a bad option from the bench but not as good as Ulloa or Vardy and no way he deserves to start ahead of them.
Dan Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 I literally cannot remember the last time Nugent looked like scoring.
veezeeblue Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 if we ar gonna start him he has to be up front on top or in the hole... not out wide, no way he needs a good goal in open play as badly as we do a win ... frankly I think the discussion should be about service to our attackers and not on themselves as such we just dont seem to be able to break down a crowded last third
MattGamble92 Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 Let's all hate on Nugent cos we are playing shit You bunch of hypocritical oafs
Monsell1976 Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 Let's all hate on Nugent cos we are playing shit You bunch of hypocritical oafs No let's say it how it is, he's massively out of form, and he needs dropping and someone else given a chance
Charl91 Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 Let's all hate on Nugent cos we are playing shit You bunch of hypocritical oafs How's it hypocritical? I've said he's not good enough for over a year now, and I stand by that. Why, do you think Nugent is playing well? Or good enough for this league?
Bayfox Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 haven't read the thread but I assume the 1st reply was l2.
Guest ttfn Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 I would use him only in the games where we're expecting to be completely out-passed, effectively as a defensive player at the top of the midfield. Otherwise it's become pretty apparent that it takes him too long to process what he's doing to be effective at this level. Drinkwater looks similar but obviously is younger and not tarnished by previous failure at this level.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 Christ! How quickly you fickle lot would give up on a player who was integral to our getting promoted in the first place? Has his 'first touch' been any worse than any of em recently? Ulloa has looked absolutely feckin awful over the past few games, yet apparently he's Prem quality whereas Nugent isn't? Nugent thrives off quickly developed opportunities. A team who gets the ball forward quickly, to give him that half chance to quickly get a shot off. We aren't playing that way. We have seen under Pearson already that Nugent will not profit under a side playing hoof ball. How quickly some of you will give up on our top striker of the past two seasons. I really hope he proves you all wrong.
MC Prussian Posted 4 November 2014 Posted 4 November 2014 Sold in Jan To laugh he wanted a 3 years deal!! If people really think hes the man to help us stay up then well, I'm afraid you are deluded I can't recall anyone saying he's "the man", he's just an important part of the puzzle as everyone else in the squad. Sadly, there seems to be a lack of composure, dedication, willpower and form in general. And at the moment, he's the most apparent boo-boy/scapegoat - following in the footsteps of many others in the past when things weren't going the way fans wanted them to be.
