Bamba's Babes Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 We've had many Nugent threads in the past and generally there has been a big split on his effectiveness. The poll is fairly simple, where do you believe he belongs at this football club? State your reasons below.
Kitchandro Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Doesn't look good enough for the bench atm. Wood has scored more from open play this season from about two sub appearances.
ScouseFox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 off the last 3 or 4 performances he's not a starter. but you could do a thread for the whole squad and based on the last 5 games nobody deserves to start. so yano. he's a squad player like everyone else atm.
65RosesFox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Bench for me. He can still come on and do a job but he's not been good enough to justify a place in the starting XI. Very rarely will both Vardy and Ulloa play 90mins, so this is where he can feature. But for him getting in ahead of Ulloa or Vardy is criminal. Wood must be wondering what he has to do to get a chance when this guy is starting.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Still think he's good enough for certain games but most of the time he should be benched. His goalscoring record this season is poor and he's not even looked like scoring apart from his chances in the Chelsea game. Agreed Vardy only has 1 goal too but he's at least looked like getting more
Tommy G Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Sold in Jan To laugh he wanted a 3 years deal!! If people really think hes the man to help us stay up then well, I'm afraid you are deluded
MooseBreath Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Bench while Vardy still looks vibrant. Nuge is easily good enough for the squad though. We all want prolific strikers but good luck finding one of them for less than £30m in the premier league.
Babylon Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 If we are picking the team on form then we'd currently have about 1 player on the pitch. But he's a bench player.
kingfox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Beginning to see why we were reluctant to give him a new contract, he is a good Championship striker and that's it. ATM bench, come January hopefully left back in the changing rooms.
volpeazzurro Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Sell in January if we can get anything for him. Would sooner have Wood, Powell, or even untried Lawrence on the bench.
AyewJoking Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 If we'd have strengthened properly in the Summer then he wouldnt even be on the bench.
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 If we'd have strengthened properly in the Summer then he wouldnt even be on the bench. Only thing i'd say to that is he earnt the right to have a crack at it this year after how well he played last year
cc_star Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Depends who we're playing, but he has proven that his workrate can prevent possession sides from having an easy ride playing out from the back & also against sides who play with a deep midfielder who pulls the strings like a quarterback - in fact it is the latter where he looked best. Not convinced on him up front in a two and as a team we've never been anything even approaching average in a front three, but playing as the deep one in a 4411 is perhaps his best role for us getting amongst deep opposition midfielders preventing their team from getting their game going
lgfualol Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Bench or gone. I reckon he'll be a nightmare to sell so we'll loan him out in January if he carries it on.
Dan Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Bench at the minute as he's probably our third best striker - though that to me points to us needing another in January. I don't think Wood is any better than him. I can see us spending a fair bit on another forward in January to be honest.
dannythefox Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Championship he shouldn't even be on the bench for me. The prem is one step to high for him
Wilson_6 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Seriously why do we keep blaming individuals? Nugent is a good championship striker and average an premier league squad player. He is not to blame for our recent form!!!!!!
lcfcsnow Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Should have been let go in the summer along with Konch and as I said as the time, our main priority should have been a left back and attacking midfielder. But it wasn't and look where we are.

But it wasn't and look where we are. You cant get rid of a man that scored 20 goals in a title winning team.... Whilst i think his Prem days could be numbered, that would of been harsh on him, he deserved a shot as did Konch
Wilson_6 Posted 3 November 2014 Posted 3 November 2014 Think Konch has done quite well TBF. The issue inst upfront for me, Ulloa can score goals. The problem at the minute is making chances for the strikers. If we had Costa upfront at the minute i doubt he would score.... Strikers cant score with out opportunities can they.

Whilst i think his Prem days could be numbered, that would of been harsh on him, he deserved a shot as did Konch He was dreadful in so many matches last season, people tend to forget that and just look at the goals+penalty stat. Whilst it's a decent amount, we as a team were creating an abundance of chances every game, many of which Nugent missed unless we were playing Burnley or Ipswich.
