No-one actually knows. It's just one of those things that gets used in your favour when you're winning and against you when you're losing. Irrelevant.

Don't you remember, we had Pearson sat in the stand, unable or unwilling to turn around our 3 wins in 17 match run in February- Mar.... Oh yeah, he was on the touchline where apparently he should be now, jumping up and down and showing passion.

Without that, we just find ourselves speculating. No need to speculate. TR is in charge of sorting in/out contracts. NP and his staff scout the players they want and TR does the negotiating while working within a financial framework given to him by the owners. He doesn't choose who they sign or get rid of. It's an administrative role rather than a pure football one. It's not an unknown situation at all.
