filbertway Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 I like Torres, not sure what's happened to his finishing in recent years, but the man can create a chance out of nothing and is light years ahead of anything we have up top. It'd be insane if we managed to snag him. Could be a confidence boost for him being around inferior players without the constant question marks around his ability in the media. From Stephen Hughes and Mark De Vries to Cambiasso and Torres .
Robin JD Popley Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 Esteban - get on the phone and tell him that Milan may be one of the big shopping capitals of Europe but we've got Highcross! Sign Him Up. :xmaswink:

Xen Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 Why? He's on the slope and has been for years. He's finished at this level. I'd rather gamble on Kramaric. Why not both? Prem experience from torres (and proven ability, albeit 5 years ago) and a bit of a gamble on one of the top European prospects... Costly perhaps, but depending on our owners plan for January there's a slim chance...
tommyh Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 Why? for the past few years he has been useless, couldn't score for Chelsea when having chances offered to him on a plate. Why would he start scoring for us, a team who will create very little for him. He will come with big wages as well so that certainly doesn't help the situation and makes him a big risk Chelsea 110 games - 20 goals Milan 10 games - 1 goal Prolific So 21 goals since 2011... just what we need out of them 110 games for chelsea he only started 72 games, and most of them starts came off still with 30 mins to go etc so it isnt that bad a ratio! Alot better than what we already have!!

Sorry but his record is Shockingly bad, there is a reason he always got subbed...
Callabinho Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 It could work for Torres, he needs to be away from the glits and glamour that comes with playing for a big club, he needs an shoulder to lean on and a sense of normality (as close to as you can get in football), a club like us would be perfect for him if he was willing, a positive dressing room and a bunch of lads (bar Esteban) who would more than likely be looking up to him. He has had a torrid few years, between the World Cup in South Africa and the euros that followed he barely missed a game, after that the niggling injuries started to tot up and eventually caught up with him, he needs a break but with someone willing to trust him, rather than place heaps of pressure on him. cjslcfc Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 Pull the other one. This is a supposed "big" signing but it would be an absolutely shocking signing IMO. The wages he would be on would be better used on a younger, better player. There's plenty of those out there as he's really not that good anymore. As I've said in another thread, he couldn't score with the monsoon of chances Chelsea create, never mind when he'd be limited to a half chance per game for us. foxes_rule1978 Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 Ridiculous. Indeed. We are looking to increase our chances of getting goals not drastically reducing it and majorly increasing our wage bill for the privilege.

Sorry but his record is Shockingly bad, there is a reason he always got subbed... The difference is Ulloas record is for Brighton against poor opposition. Torres's record is in the Prem against alot better opposition. And the reason he got subbed alot is also because it was for the likes of Drogba / Etoo /, aswell as him playing poor yes! We can't afford to take such a chance.Still Ulloa has scored 6 in 16 this season Torres just has one goal to his name and it is december..
Mrfox452 Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 If you wanna talk about stats, lets not forget he was the top scorer at Euro 2012. With a massive three goals.

Would it be as big a risk as signing someone like Kramaric or Dwight Gayle tho who would cost 8mil and 5mil respectively?? not too mention the wages on top of that fee! Say we agree to pay say 80k of Torres wage (maybe lower maybe higher as dont know what hes on) until the end of the season it adds up to about 1.6 mil. The gamble for me there would be on the other two strikers and not Torres, as he has at least proven that he can score goals in this league. I cant understand why people consider it being a risk?? Robin JD Popley Posted 17 December 2014 Share Posted 17 December 2014 In all seriousness, anyone who thinks he couldn't improve us vastly are probably the same people who called Esteban Cambiasso before he joined us and look what he's done to the team. Form is temporary but class is permanent.
