Dan Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Newcastle for their numbers were the worst fans we've had here all season and that is some achievement really given the stand in silence stance the majority have taken this season. Great numbers but bloody hell. It was the same away there too. Eerie silence considering there was 50k in the ground.
orbison Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Pleased we have progressed to the next round, winning can breed winning, however my concern is with a long cup run, could it expose our players to injuries and fatigue with a clustered fixture list? when we need all our available resources while we have a glimmer of hope of avoiding the drop, especially as we have been showing some improvement of late, its a dilemma for me personally.
Candidcamera Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 I believe that it is 100% important to keep going in the right direction. I think going out of the League cup was significant and the players struggled to get sufficient appearances to make an impression. Winning has to become a habit and the squad has to push the players who get picked when not really hacking it. Injuries will not help but have some faith in the squad. A few weeks ago I posted saying it would be nice to give the players who got us up a run in the team and that formation a chance. It seems that it might be the way forward. I think that this is where our strengths lie. Also, Pearson on the touchline is an improvement.
Corky Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Clearly onside, certainly benefitted from that decision. Won't be a huge deal made of it because Pearson was calm and didn't rant after the decisions the other way against Liverpool, didn't play the victim or spout about conspiracies so it won't be overly scrutinised.
AspectFox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 sounds just like Ashley. Really? Have you been part of his business entourage long?
Raj Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Really? Have you been part of his business entourage long?yes.Next question. We had to move from.L1 and went to B.But could hear SK1 throughout...well done lads. Think the league game will be different with L1 re-united!!!
glenelgfox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Not sure if this was mentioned earlier but Vardy did well getting a yellow within a minute of coming on. He is starting to worry me of late with his late tackles which at his pace and not timed properly he is strong canidate for silly yellows and even straight red if tackle is bad enough.
ealingfox Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 Couldn't make it up yesterday, but sounds a dire affair so I'm not too miffed. Good to win and keep a clean sheet and it's nice to be in the hat for the next round. You know it will be Swansea or Southampton away though. Went to Brentford v Brighton myself, awful game. How much were we linked with bidding for Craig Mackail-Smith? He was absolute shite. One Chris O'Grady scoring from the bench as well, doing alright for himself.
Monsell1976 Posted 4 January 2015 Posted 4 January 2015 I think we were. SK1 sung through most of the game, but there's just not enough of them to create a loud enough noise.Relocated from l1 to sk1 for this game, it's good what they are trying to achieve, and the singing was constant all through the game, but fear with the people around that area, there just doesn't seem enough that want to get involved.I couldn't tell you how loud the Newcastle fans were, as you could see the whole end clapping and looked like they were singing, but with the way the ground is, couldn't hear them, and I guess they sang in numbers, so I doubt they would have heard the top say 10 rows of sk1. Again I am not calling sk1 effort, but they need their numbers to grow, if what they are trying to achieve is going to work.

Not a dig but at least you know now why the fans in L1 don't sound as loud as what they think they are.

They were a lot like Leeds, when they sang it was loud and clear but limited songbook for such a big fanbase.
NUFC Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 NUFC fan here that attended the fixture yesterday. Just to clarify a few points really... I thought that Leicester were by far deserving of the three points, our performance was possibly the worst I have seen from us in a long, long time. Our disallowed goal was clearly onside, but apart from that we looked like an U12 side. Best of luck for the future rounds. As for the fans reaction at the full time whistle, the boos were aimed at the following; The Players For what was an absolutely abysmal performance, a 1-0 defeat is acceptable if 80% of the players bust a gut and atleast try - the players yesterday were clearly not interested in the game what so ever. John Carver In the build up for the game, John informed us he would play a full strength team and 'go for it'... That full strength team was without; Coloccini, Sissoko, Perez, Janmaat, Colback (5/11 key/possibly our best players) 4,319 supporters made the 360 mile trip yesterday to watch our reserves potter around to a 1-0 defeat. With us sitting comfortably in mid table, the FA Cup is our only chance of a bit of excitement/success this season - we don't expect to win it, just a couple of wins would be nice. 1-0 down with 10 minutes to go he opted to bring on a 17 and 18 year old for their senior debuts (rather than bringing on two senior players). Mike Ashley The club have constantly informed fans that cups are an 'irrelevance' and as a club we do not take them seriously. To put things into perspective, our recent FA Cup 3rd round form has been the following: 2014/15 Leicester City (h) lost 0-12013/14 Cardiff City (h) lost 1-22012/13 Brighton and Hove Albion (a) lost 0-22011/12 Blackburn Rovers (h) won 2-12010/11 Stevenage (a) lost 1-32009/10 Plymouth Argyle (a) drew 0-02008/09 Hull City (a) drew 0-0 2007/08 Stoke City (a) drew 0-0 2006/07 Birmingham City (a) drew 2-2 We've lost 4, drew 4 (losing 3 of those on the replays) and won a grand total of 1 (and we later lost to Brighton in the fourth round) The whole "Newcastle are too over ambitious" notes I have read on here/elsewhere... We are not over ambitious, we don't expect to finish in the top 4/5/6 every season and win a trophy - we just expect to have a go. We didn't boo because we lost 1-0 to Leicester, we boo'd due to the above. As for 'Pardew-gate' - 70% of the supporters didn't like him from day one. They didn't like him when we finished 5th, they didn't like him when we finished 14th. The media frenzy of Newcastle fans hating him due to 3 defeats then loving him after 4 wins is highly inaccurate I appreciate that not all of you will give a toss - but it does really bug us when inaccurate information is posted elsewhere. Good luck for the rest of the season, and see you again in May.
Raj Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 NUFC-Good post and insight into what's going on. I've always had abit of a soft spot for Toon since Auf weidershen Pet!!!
NUFC Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 NUFC-Good post and insight into what's going on. I've always had abit of a soft spot for Toon since Auf weidershen Pet!!! Thanks - as I said, most will not give a toss, but I thought I'd clear up a few points and give you insight onto the events of the day. I wish you all the best for the season, there are far worse teams in this league than yours but when you are at the wrong end it's a dogfight till the end.
NUFC Posted 5 January 2015 Posted 5 January 2015 3 points weren't at stake mate Every win at this stage is vital imo, confidence is huge in the Premier League. One win in the cup, can keep you going for weeks
doncht Posted 11 January 2015 Posted 11 January 2015 Love the fact of the short corners. Something different. +1 to that!
