Dan Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Think I'm in the minority who has a little sympathy for Newcastle. Pardew is a shite manager. He'll prove that at Palace. They're a mess from top to bottom, restricted by an awful, unambitious owner yet the media swing things completely against them over this whole Pardew situation. It's a shame they went on that run under him because I think that's probably going to keep them up. They look absolute cannon fodder.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Needs three months in the gym but on the plus side he does look a good prospect and can teach James a lesson about corner taking. Got knocked off the ball a bit too easy but about two minutes after Cambiasso went off, he pinged a 60 yard Hollywooder out to the right side, so the skill & vision is there. It's always a case of getting the balance right though mate. Too much 'bulking up' and you lose some of the pace and acceleration. Lloyd Dyer was a good example of a City player who was able to get that compromise spot on. He became a bit of a beast, muscularly, but retained his quickness. And was actually hard to bounce off the ball. I agree though, Lawrence does look a bit too slight at present.

I have no love for Pardew whatsoever mate, but I'm surprised you think he's a 'shite manager'. Leaving the club with them in 10th, and being very restricted, apparently, in many ways, isn't a bad effort. As for Palace, time will tell. With any luck, you'll be right and he'll make a balls-up of it.
JonnyBoy Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 All three wingers put forward a strong case for them being in the team. Tough call for Pearson to make. Quite a nice problem with schlupp and mahrez going ACON

Reads a bit like this forum before Christmas Dan? There will always be those who start campaigns, think that their club should be doing better etc... I said I have no love for Pardew, I couldn't care a monkeys where he goes to manage. But as a casual observer, I don't think he's done a bad job at Newcastle. He leaves them in 10th after an abysmal start and there don't appear to be a big queue of people wanting to take over. If they appoint Coloccini as manager, I fear the Geordies may well start to think they might have been a little too hasty re. Pardew. We'll see though. I'm hoping he does abysmally at Palace.
Webbo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Have a good read of this site. http://sackpardew.com/ Plenty on there putting up fair arguments against him. In our view it is not, and never should be, an acceptable situation for the manager of Newcastle United to target no higher than a mid-table finish, downplay our European history and actively tout players around in public. Sounds a stupid argument to me, it wouldn't be his choice to sell players and no manage would target finishing below what they were capable of. He has got them into Europe and he's kept them in the premier league comfortably. If he deserves to be sacked I don't know how anyone can say Pearson should stay even if we're relegated.
PaulW Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 No goals scored against us in open play for three matches now!
chris_lcfc_85 Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Lawrence was a bit hit and miss but not easy on your full debut playing a lot out of position. For me his best position will be behind the front man with 2 centre MIDs behind him. Easier to judge after a few games
The Doctor Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 They're taking their time, it'll be quicker to wait for MOTD. Ridiculous - they said every goal by quarter past five, put up five fixtures then gave up for a couple of hours.
Raj Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Ridiculous - they said every goal by quarter past five, put up five fixtures then gave up for a couple of hours.I've seen the blooming Preston game twice now on.red button...where's city goal??!!!

Lionator Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Newcastle were awful but that goal they scored was an absolute beauty! Glad the Lino decided it was offside 10 minutes later though, pretty sure he was level. Clearly onside having seen the replay.
Babylon Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Have a good read of this site. http://sackpardew.com/ Plenty on there putting up fair arguments against him. Their argument is a load of crap really, how they can slaughter Ashley and then dump on Pardew as well is just baffling. If he's being shit on from above his hands are tied some what.
Babylon Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 How can Stringer say the goal was a deflection, it was a cross from James and great diverting header from Ulloa.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 They're just very angry. I don't even know why I'm not entirely sure how good they expect to be.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 How can Stringer say the goal was a deflection, it was a cross from James and great diverting header from Ulloa. If that's actually what happened then his commentary for the goal was sub John Barber level.
Babylon Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 If that's actually what happened then his commentary for the goal was sub John Barber level. See Kellers post above with the highlights.
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 See Kellers post above with the highlights. hmmm I aint sure that's a cross. Hard to tell, although Ulloa has definitley meant to flick to goalwards he's got no idea where that's going
The Doctor Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Konchesky is light-years behind everyone else, Cabella clearly onside. Some cracking saves from their keeper mind. Corners looked better with Knockaert on them as well.
Brooksy Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 How pissed off does Stringer sound when we score? What a bellend.
st albans fox Posted 3 January 2015 Posted 3 January 2015 Clearly onside having seen the replay. yep - we'd be angry. great move aswell
