FA Cup 3rd Round Leicester City v Newcastle United post match 1 - 0

Just got back, not a particularly great game but there's quite a few positives to take from today.

First of all I must praise Tom Lawrence, put in a serious shift in central midfield, some of his touches were delightful, some beautiful turns & didn't shy away from getting stuck in. Albrighton looked decent as well, especially going forward his cross for Wood's chance was sublime. Thought Knockaert had a decent game as well, was let down by Konchesky a few times though who yet again played quite poor.

MOTM though for me was Liam Moore by a country mile, not exaggerating here when I say that was one of the most dominant performances I've seen from a Leicester centre half, he was absolute class today.

Bring on the next round

Just got back. Not amazing but a wins a win! Standout performances from Moore who defended resolutely and Albrighton who offered some pace and determination.

Wanted Lawrence to do well and while he's clearly talented his decision making let him down at times. Dribbled when he should have passed, held when it needed passing etc. He'll have learnt a lot from the game.

James and RDL also played their standard games.

Newcastle poor as a team. Had a few decent looking players but no cohesion which given the circumstances maybe isn't a shock.

Nige back in the dugout showing off his new white trainers!

predicted a bit of a slog and a 1-0 win, thought ulloa would score. :knockynice:

who played well then? lawrence/knockaert, seen as we need them for the next 5 weeks?

Didn't follow it, pleased we won but I didn't exactly jump for joy when I found out we'd scored. Knowing us we'll follow it up with an awful home defeat to Villa, though it's good to get that winning feeling. It's only worthwhile if we can back it up with league results and get a good 4th round draw.

Didn't really have to break sweat to be honest, Newcastle were awful and just showed no ambition at all. Thought De Laet had an excellent game, Moore and Albrighton both good too.

Newcastle's performance in the second half is one of the most pathetic displays I have seen. It was truly pathetic and I am not eggsagerating.

I don't think they were booing Carver. All their anger was directed at Ashley (as per) and the players, who put in a horrendous performance. I don't blame them either, if id traveled that far to see the team put in a performance which lacked effort, urgency and any passion I'd be livid too.

As for us, decent performance and into the next round, which is all that matters.

According to the bbc reporter at the game Carver went over to applaud the travelling fans after the game and a substantial portion booed him.

Albrighton changed the game when he came on. Gave us an outlet and put in some very decent crosses

Liked the look of Lawerence aswell but looks too lightweight at the moment for PL.

Some Newcastle fans outside the ground were chanting John Carver what a w****r.

They were booing anything and everything to be fair.

This.

No passion, no passing, nothing feckin awful - obviously not there first team but if they had a some serious injuries they'd be screwed

Can understand some of the anger. Newcastle's season is now over. With them sitting 10th in the league it's unlikely anything will happen for them in the next four months.

They knew all this beforehand - they knew the FA Cup was the only area where they might achieve something this season. If I were a Newcastle fan I'd hate Carver for picking the team he did today. He chose to put the club out of the only competition they've got left.

Really pleased with Knockaert's and Albrighton's performances especially today -in fact everyone who came into the side impressed me with their workrate, showing they all wanted to fight for their places and the team.

Two vital home games coming up and the confidence in the squad looks high again. What a difference the last three games have made

I thought Liam Moore was excellent today personally. This win will probably give the team some momentum heading into the next two games.

Looked totally out of his depth first half, only to be expected I suppose. But grew into it and had an ok game.

I agree; there came a point in the second half that whenever he got the ball, he would quickly give it to the nearest player. On the whole he did okay and was out of position in CM. I'm sure there's loads more to come.

John carver booed by Newcastle fans!

They drive Pardew out of the club and then boo the caretaker! Disgusting really! I hope they go down myself!

Don't think they booed him, indeed I'm sure when he went over to them at the end they applauded him, as he did them.

Think the booing was aimed at the woeful performance and Ashley. As their Chant went....

You fat f.....g b.....d, get out of our club

I don't agree. Thought he was fine for the whole game. Plenty of neat touches and passes that made me think he's capable of playing regularly.
