LCFC To Review Ticket Collection Procedures

Recommended Posts

Leicester City will review its ticket collection procedures for future cup matches at King Power Stadium, after supporters experienced difficulties ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Newcastle.

Due to early postal deadlines over the Christmas and New Year period, the Club had no alternative but to make a large number of match tickets – 6,250 – available for collection.

These were available to collect from 9am on Wednesday 31 December. Ninety minutes ahead of kick-off on Saturday, over 4,000 of these tickets were still awaiting collection.

Due to the sheer weight of demand from 2.15pm onwards, a number of supporters missed the start of the game while queuing to collect pre-purchased tickets.

Club staff reacted to the delay as quickly as possible and, as a result, all supporters were inside the ground by 3.20pm. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

The Club is confident that future cup matches will not cause similar issues, but will continue to explore steps to improve our collection service.

Our continued advice to supporters, particularly those collecting pre-purchased tickets, remains to arrive at King Power Stadium well in advance of kick-off to ensure your admission to the stadium is not delayed.

Is the TO saying it didn't know about early postal times preceding the Christmas period?

Shouldn't have taken so long publishing the ticket details.

All in all, not good office management.

They did alright at dealing with the massive queuing ..... but could have done so much better .... didn't seem to be anyone in control or with any plan of expanding capacity

Love it how they state that because the staff got their act together, all fans got in by 320pm; like it was an achievement! Arrogance!

For some games at the KP over the past few seasosn, there has been an option to get an e-ticket with a barcode to print at home and then scan at the turnstile.

I just found one in my emails for the Watford play-off game 2 years ago.  So we have had the ability to do this for a long time now.

Why can't the club introduce an e-ticket option for all games, instead of pissing everyone off with this paper tickets fiasco?

I accept e-tickets are not the answer for everyone, but I'm sure a large chunk of those 6,250 would have taken up the option of an e-ticket if it had been offered.

I live near Buxton so had no choice but to collect on the day - I got there at 2pm thinking that would be enough time. The queue was HUGH by this time. But luckily for me I was directed to a very small queue - obviously not many people have a surname beginning with "G". But for those with surnames beginning with "I" onwards would have been there for ages.

Why can't we print the tickets at home? I do that with boarding passes that require barcode scanning at airports.

Everyone there was really friendly and trying to be as helpful as possible and move things along as fast as they could.

No they are not, try reading it again

Firstly they had to wait for the fa to confirm the date and then have to allow sufficient time for the away club to decide on what allocation they require

By the time all this was done it was past the last available posting date before Xmas

It might of helped if people wasn't turning up at 2:40 when being asked to arrive early or pick tickets up in the days preceding the game

Yeah we got into the queue just after 2pm and it had curled around onto itself and was at least 150m long by then.

And yet nobody seemed to react to the problem until around 2.40pm when they opened the ticket office for ticket pick ups......

They knew they'd got 6000 still to collect on the day....... it doesn't take a genius to realise that's going to need a lot of resources to handle and not 3 people in a portacabin.

It was heartbreaking as I waltzed passed all of the poor troops queuing up on Saturday season ticket in hand, beer in sight. Glad they are looking to rectify the issues.

Amazing thing is the lad who collected our tickets the day before predicted it would happen.

How they didn't see this coming when they knew a few thousand had to be collected is beyond me.
