Oxfordfox83 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 We have not been unlucky all season. This isn't an opinion. This is a fact. We are not doing everything right. This is not an opinion. This is a fact. So, given that you can only view football from the prism of statistics, your opinion is that we put in a better performance against Hull than, say, Spurs, Chelsea or Liverpool. Which makes you an idiot. Those performances might not keep us up, but they were tangibly better than winning vs Hull, or Stoke for that matter.Given that, you *ought* to be able to reason through that it is possible to play badly and win, and (which is the main point of the thread) play well and lose. In this case, if a team plays well and loses consistently, then they can reasonably be considered to be unlucky. I think that is fair, just as it was fair to consider us lucky against Hull. Ain't going to keep us up, but if you are totally black or white that defeats mean we played badly and wins mean we played well then you are missing everything good about football.
bovril Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 With all respect to the OP (one of my favourite posters on here) it reads like something from a Bradford City forum after a narrow defeat in the 5th round of the Capital One Cup.
Nick Posted 11 February 2015 Author Posted 11 February 2015 With all respect to the OP (one of my favourite posters on here) it reads like something from a Bradford City forum after a narrow defeat in the 5th round of the Capital One Cup. Yeah, fair point - in my defence, I started in the pub at 4pm so have some but limited memory of starting the thread......
HighPeakFox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 It WAS a performance to be proud of. And LCFC have not been particularly lucky all season (Man U at home being an obvious exception). It IS a fact that we are bottom because we haven't scored more than we've let in. I cannot be arsed iffing about what happened in the summer - if Kramaric and A N OTHER start scoring then I can well see the Foxes staying up. If not..............well, sadly not. But I think the team has the quality to do it - it's not like we're getting stuffed often.
bovril Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 It WAS a performance to be proud of. And LCFC have not been particularly lucky all season (Man U at home being an obvious exception). Our two away wins this season have had an element of fortune to them.
Nick Posted 11 February 2015 Author Posted 11 February 2015 Proud? Really? Because our players try against Arsenal, Liverpool etc but can't motivate themselves for matches against Palace and Stoke? Because we haven't learnt how to defend a set piece yet? Because we've got 17 points from 25 games? It doesn't take much to make you proud, obviously. 1.Yes 2. For the record I don't remember anybody trying against Liverpool 3. Because we had no idea at all Wes would struggle at times at this level 4. That's nearly a point a game - not bad. 5. I'm proud to have had my ass 'Kitchandro'd' - I knew you were tough, I just didn't realise you were so angry as well.
Nick Posted 11 February 2015 Author Posted 11 February 2015 Not past your bed time? Pathetic Are you DT in disguise, Bob?

seenitall Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Losing sucks but had we played great and got a draw off the back of two home victories and a narrow defeat at Man U that would have made me proud. Losing four straight games after we are supposed to have turned a corner makes me sad. Still, we only threw away a couple of games by the big man not starting Kram and at least our Dad's Army defence only let two in....what's not to love?

veezeeblue Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Well I am proud of the performance last night - which I believe is the theme of this thread -. It impressed the hell out of the Brazilian commentators they were so very positive about us at the end of the game lauding praise .. Watched UK version too and they pretty much said the same - as did Wenger - keep playing like that and will survive pundits and managers across continents believe in our survival why shouldnt we ?
ousefox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Guarantee Mahrez will be putting all those chances in the back of the net when he's at somewhere like Swansea next season

Keep playing like this and we will survive? Really? You think we will survive by gifting the opposition goals and not converting the overwhelming majority of our own goal scoring opportunities? We've been doing this all season and it's resulted in us being bottom of the league. But maybe doing the same thing over and over will suddenly result in a different outcome.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 We are not a decent side. If we were we wouldn't be four points adrift at the bottom of the table and only amassed 17 damn points at this stage of the season. Your username does a lot to discredit any decent points you might ever come up with
Dan Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 The sad thing is that had we bought Huth and Kramaric in in the summer (Or equivalents) we'd be about halfway up the league. Instead we're going down. Fine Margins as they say. Agree with that. Can see it being too little too late. The nearly club in a nearly season
Guest Col city fan Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Was discussing this earlier with my lad who also felt proud after last night's spirited comeback. Our General conclusion. ..no way are we giving in yet. There's too much to play for. We can turn this around. We also agreed that all those who seemingly would be happy for us to be relegated....meh! We want to stay in the top flight and fight. Not just accept second best.

We want to stay in the top flight and fight. Not just accept second best. It is definitely not time to give up yet! I am of the opinion that staying up is going to be all the more sweet because of us being in the position we are right now! Even the stuff with NP recently has added to this. Siege mentality guys. Let the fightback begin. And we are going to win the FA Cup along the way. F**ck you all! I genuinely think that we will beat Villa this weekend and will take that confidence into the Everton game and get a result and then we will be on our way! It is going to be a roller-coaster ride boys and it certainly is not time to get off just yet. Keep The Faith!
Jacnah Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 The thing is we did perform against Palace. We really should have won on chances made. It's the mistakes in either box that are sending us down, and rarely the overall performance 100% agree
Donut Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 So sad how we manage to lose these games, we played them off the park at times and albeit for a bit of classy finishing, would have came away with at least a point. We really haven't had the rub of the green this season, and other clubs notice that when we play them. If we were to cut out the ridiculous mistakes at the back (Wes Morgan), we wouldn't be bottom of this league. ......so if we finished our chances better, and had defenders that could actually concentrate and not switch off and let people have a free run from a corner, or spoon clearances straight into opposition players feet we wouldnt be bottom of the league. No shit. Your username does a lot to discredit any decent points you might ever come up with Hes right, get over it. We arent decent. Were just bridesmaids who are gallant in defeat.

Err, plenty of us stated Morgan wouldn't cut it in the Premiership, and got slagged off for it!

We want to stay in the top flight and fight. Not just accept second best. It's not even remotely near over yet. We have already played Liverpool, Arsenal and United away in the second half of the season. We have had a relatively difficult run of games and they will only get easier (on paper). We have to string a run of wins...three or four. Do that sooner or later and we should be able to stay up.
