How Financially Prepared are we for the Championship?

Stats mean naff all not worth didly squat. Results are all that matter. Interestingly, not doing this season seems interesting cos none of Fulham, Cardiff or Norwich are ripping the Championship a new one this season.

When we go down this season I believe the same will happen to us its not impossible to implode and go all the way down.

There is only one legue to be in and that is the top one all the money gors there.

What a chance we have blown this season ffp and misery awaits.

Actually a good questioning thread, which has thrown up interesting returning posts.

Though no matter what happens, one way or the other, all you 'young lads n lasses smile upon your faces lined along the terraces....we will support our boys through thick and thin...aye its grand and a great adventure to be a foxes fan.

I am suffering on 2 fronts...B.Dortmund more than city have totally imploded.....oh woe is me.

Hey we should exchange managers, might change our fortunes..

I looked at the last 30 clubs to be relegated excluding the ones last season as we don't know final results and looked at managers who had the whole season in the relegation season and were retained going into the championship and this is the (interesting) list I got:

Owen Coyle, Bolton (sacked)
Steve Keen, Blackburn Rovers (sacked)
Steve Coppel, Reading (4th place, not promoted)
Ian Holloway, Blackpool (5th place, not promoted)
Gareth Southgate, Middlesbrough (sacked)
Aidy Boothroyd, Watford (6th place, not promoted)
Bryan Robson, West Bromwich Albion (sacked)
Steve Bruce, Birmingham City (2nd place, promotion)
Nigel Worthington, Norwich City (9th place, not promoted)
Iain Dowie, Crystal Palace (6th place, not promoted)
Dave Jones, Wolverhampton Wanderers (sacked)
Micky Adams, Leicester City (resigned)

12/30 teams allowed the same manager to relegate them and then try again in the championship.

Of these only 1 got promotion straight back (Steve Bruce), 6 failed to make it through the season, 4 managed the play-offs but none won, 1 finished top half.

Afaik none of the managers who saw out the season managed promotion in a subsequent season either.

Have Cardiiff Fulham and Norwich still got the same managers as when they went down?

They all sacked their managers.

Nice work Cardiff Fox, although not encouraging from an instant return perspective.

Although you could argue it's nearly 1 in 4 that make an instant return and with 3 being relegated you are close to being able to say 1 will make an instant return. (ok that's complete mathematical Bollocks but I like to be positive !! Heck what am I saying! We will stay up anyway  :)

As I've said elsewhere, should we go down I think we are in a much better position than many of the previous relegated teams have been in. I'd be very positive about our chances.

I'd feel a lot more confident about an instant return to the premiership if Nigel Pearson remained in charge.

If they got rid of him at the end of the season I think we'd end of being a mid table team in the championship.

why is that, because of his 1 in 3 success rate?

the positives.

no players on large wedge.

not too many players on long contracts (andy king excepted of course)

FFP is free money.

the negatives

definite dropoff in attendence and therefore income.

some players will leave.

ticket prices should be lower, but there will be more games.

no 1 problem, no guarantee of immediate return.

baggies did it, but look at wigan pimpey et al.

worrying times.

Our success would be dependent on how much of our squad we can keep together. It's hard to see how this squad wouldn't finish top 6 at least. We know we have the right work ethic and determination in the team, the ability is proven.

It's not like we'd be going down with a bunch of journeyman that aren't interesting in putting a shift in for the club.

"Looking at the Championship teams that have clinched promotion they have one thing in Common 2 players that score, the rest of the team can be average but get two on fire strikers you ca get out. I think Rodellaga and Mitroglou with Woodrow in reserve are 10 times better than either the Leicester, Burnley and Derby pairings, with a few astute purchase and a couple of the U21's grabbing their opportunity we could have a very exciting season next year. Khan did what he could, even Fayed didn't underwrite ctravel and cheap tickets to away games, he has my vote COYW"

"

Fulham will be the BRAZIL of the Championship, our team was "too good to go down" yet it did.

Our owner is a MULTI-BILLIONAIRE and has already invested in the team.  He was only let down by Ali Mack, but not by his own ambitions for the club."
