lavrentis Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 Don't see any problem with those figures tbh. Pretty important and high profile jobs
Finnegan Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 It's the volume of them, though, and the unnecessary levels of middle management below them on fifty or sixty who only actually manage another couple of managers themselves. Fortunately, it is something that's being addressed in many divisions now.
MooseBreath Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 Hard to say without knowing what the structure is like further down the chain. If it's anything like the public sector structures I've seen, there will be about five further levels of "managers" each simply instructing downwards and reporting upwards, themselves earning £60k+, before you get to the productive people.

Exactly this. Obviously I'm on dangerous ground here as my boss (or, one of them) is on that list. But that's spot on. The director manages four heads of service who each manage a couple of section managers who each manage three or four team leaders who ACTUALLY manage the front line staff. Crazy. Though currently being reviewed.
davieG Posted 27 February 2015 Author Posted 27 February 2015 There's a few more chiefs under that lot Senior Management Structure Chart [pdf / 1.29MB]Senior Management Structure Chart Then there's the Mayor, Deputy and Assistants I've appointed Rory Palmer as my deputy, and the following councillors as Assistant City Mayor: Piara Singh Clair Andy Connelly Vi Dempster Sarah Russell Rita Patel Manjula Sood. What bothers me is not the salaries per se but that jobs are being cut at all levels but seemingly not those at senior management levels. if so many services and budget levels have needed to be cut surely you don't need the same levels of management
lgfualol Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 Where in Leicester is that hall? I swear I have never seen it. WIthout the cars it looks like France or something.
Mike the Metal Ed Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 Where in Leicester is that hall? I swear I have never seen it. WIthout the cars it looks like France or something. It's Charles Street between Rutland Street and Halford Street. . And I guarantee that's the most complimentary thing anyone will ever say about it.
lgfualol Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 It's Charles Street between Rutland Street and Halford Street. . And I guarantee that's the most complimentary thing anyone will ever say about it. Oh yeah, I have definitely seen it before. I think it is the blue sky in the picture, messing with my head.
CosbehFox Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 If you ever have the opportunity to meet Mr.Keeling, you quickly see why he's there. A right slimy individual.
Guest MattP Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 That list is disgraceful. One Asian name in a lost of about twenty, how is that representative of the City?
m4DD0gg Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 Normal kind of figures for those types of roles.
Jon the Hat Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 The salaries look fine, but that kind of management structure looks overkill, particularly given the likely senior managers and managers underneath. Half the jobs there could be done by managers.

See me in my office in 10 mins, no need to knock, just burst in singing"we love you"whilst twirling your shirt round your head.
Finnegan Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 That list is disgraceful. One Asian name in a lost of about twenty, how is that representative of the City? Are you advocating the Rooney rule then matt?
Guest MattP Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 Are you advocating the Rooney rule then matt? Not at all but we clearly have a problem, almost a white labour biridery looking at that. A city a diverse as ours should have far more Asian representation in senior positions than that shows.
Guest MattP Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 Not biting I was never getting any was I?
Finnegan Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 I started and then just went "... such a nob" and stopped.
Guest MattP Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 I'm in the Newport away end tomorrow mate I can't wait!
Asha Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 I'm in the Newport away end tomorrow mate I can't wait! I spent three years in Newport away ends and it's a good laugh. Expect to hear 'WE KNOW WHAT WE AREEEEEE SHEEPSHAGGING BASTARDS WE KNOW WHAT WE ARE' at least every two minutes though!
Guest MattP Posted 27 February 2015 Posted 27 February 2015 Yep Got that last time I was with them! Did you ever come across the one legged heroin addict?
