As I posted in a thread I just made without realising this one is here, looking to get into it a bit this season.

49ers always been my soft spot and from what I can gather have a good side this season.

Is there no fantast nfl on here?

I do a DraftKings league, but not really interested in the whole draft thing.

I can set a DK league up if people are interested, though its fairly short notice now with the first game tomorrow night. Could always just do a Sunday contest for the first week

Looks like we can have a bit of a 49ers fan base on here: going back to Feb on this thread, @ALC Fox was signing up for the Niners Nation!

Should be a good season: most pundits have the Rams winning the NFC West, but 49ers to make the playoffs.

Very interesting off-season with the 49ers moving on from last year's QB Jimmy Garoppolo to Trey Lance, who has a lot of promise, but started very few college games and only 2 games as a rookie last year - only to then re-sign Jimmy back with the team the day before roster cuts were made! Strictly as a backup, of course.

Other than that position, a strong squad all round - other than the Offensive Line. So with an inexperienced QB and porous protection, things have the potential to go South. There may be some low scoring games as they rely on the Defense.

Re: Fantasy - not something I'm up for: don't have much time to invest in it, or to keep up with the other 31 teams.

Big news from a Uniform perspective for the NFL this year: over 10 years ago, due to safety, the NFL bought in a "One shell" rule limiting teams to 1 colour helmet, which ruled out a lot of throwback combinations. This has been lifted this year to enable teams to have 2 helmets, which has opened the door for a raft of alternate helmets and throwbacks:

Pretty conservative first year of doing this, and a bit unimaginative with the swathe of black helmets, but looking forward to seeing the Bengals in white and the Giants and Patriots throwbacks. (I can't stand that Patriots logo, but it goes back to when I started following the sport and they lost in it week after week...)

I'm a Cowboys fan and I'm not looking forward to the season. A pretty poor off season for us but some decent warm up game results have disguised it a bit.

I don't know if you subscribe to the Athletic, but they had a model predicting win totals & then comments from each teams' beat writer. https://theathletic.com/3545851/2022/08/30/nfl-win-totals-projections-reactions/ (The top 3 were Buffalo 11.7, Green Bay 11.4 and Dallas 10.6 - with the 49ers in 10th place but not far behind with 9.7).

But the top comment underneath from a John W. seems to mirror your take that things aren't quite right in Dallas and not everyone is drinking the kool aid...

"I just wanna shout out Jon Machota, the only writer for a non-terrible team to definitively take the under on their win total. I’m sure it can be hard to not buy into optimism when you’re around a team and coaching staff (not to mention their fans) every day, but at the same time watching the parade of beat writers pound the over (in every sport mind you) until 80% of the league is there and the rest of the marks “seem about right” is pretty funny."

Eagles have had some off-season aswell, still think you’ll run them close in the East.

My Seahawks are on for a down year but I’m actually really looking forward to it, nice for them to actually have a plan in place to turn the roster around rather than firefighting every off-season. If we can get to 5/6 wins I’ll be happy.

Plus going to to Munich game against the Bucs in November which will be my 1st live game.

Broncos fan (let's ride!), looking forward to the heart attack enducing Russell Wilson scramble until unleashing a 40 yard bomb era. Excited for our season for the first time since Manning left, not having to watch Siemian/Lynch/Keenum/Lock/Bridgewater at QB will do that! Hopefully we can get some good defensive production without Fangio who I hated more than any head coach we have ever had.

Lots of good storylines in the league this year:

How will the 49ers do with Lance and keeping Jimmy G in the building. Is Lance good enough to be worth three first round picks?

Who comes out of the stacked AFC West and AFC North divisions?

Is there 7 playoff worthy teams in the NFC?

How will Green Bay and Kansas adjust to their star QB's with untested receiver corps?

Will Tom Brady retire in the middle of the season?

Baker Mayfield revenge tour (subject to Christian McCaffrey ever being healthy)

How long until the Cowboys appoint Sean Payton?

Will any of the first rookie QB's play?

The horrid Cleveland mess.

How does Trevor Lawrence respond to a better head coaching situation

Miami Dolphins boom or bust in Tua's proove it year. Is Mike McDaniel going to be a good HC?

Can't wait.

Be interesting to see how Russ gets on, he'll certainly take you on a rollercoaster of emotions during a game!

Looking forward to Monday/Tuesday morning, got a sneaky suspicion we might turn you over. :fc:

I have a similar feeling, less because I think the Seahawks are going to have a good season but I expect Caroll will have a gameplan that will give Russ fits and it is a nightmare matchup for a new qb/hc combo.

Looking forward to DK v Surtain and how our new tackles hold up against Chubb and Gregory.

I'm a total armchair fan when it comes to the NFL, I absolutely love sundays for the redzone.

What is the best way of getting access to redzone?

Can't beat having redzone on, on a Sunday as you potter about the house doing stuff.

I thought the idea of Redzone was ridiculous when I first heard about it, but through Gamepass, I flicked on once out of curiosity during the early window and was addicted. It takes some editing to pull it off, but its brilliantly done and it builds to a crescendo particularly when they hit "The witching hour".

It makes great Sunday viewing, watching the early window Redzone as a warmup with a nice sense of detachment and just as its wrapping up, the 49ers will be kicking off in the late window for the real event.
