You are on a sodding low income and can't afford to buy your 8-Ace this week.

What can you do? I know, why not phone those QuickQuid people who advertise on the Cartoon Network. On the Cartoon fucking Network.

A five minute application, loans of up to £1500, the promise that you can spiral into further debt by repaying using your credit card and a APR of 2356%.

2,356%

It should be illegal to charge that percentage.

It should be illegal to accept credit card payments.

It should be illegal to advertise on childrens' channels.

It should be illegal to finance individuals with limited ability to repay.

Corporate cunts.

Cartoon Network lol

Not watched that beaut in Donkey's years.. Dexter's Lab, Jonny Bravo, Scooby-Doo, Looney Tunes, Tom and Jerry and Yogie Bear were my favourites.

Alright, Uncle Albert and the Milktray deliberately missing the point...

Yes, the timing and placement of this ad are offensive. But the (cable) TV channels accepting offers like that as advertisement are to blame as well. As are the people falling for it.

There will always be individuals and institutions out there preying on your money, seducing you with sweet 'n sticky promises or paraphrases. Hey, we're Capitalist by Employment, greed and need are in balance and come with the package of this system.

Do you reckon the government will do something about it? De-regulating the (open) TV channel market? Doubt it. As long as the buck comes flowing in, nothing will change.

Money. The cause of much joy and the root of all evil.

On a sidenote, the Cartoon Network doesn't strike me as being overly educational for (little) kids...

Sorry it doesnt really effect me does it and hopefully it never will but Cartoon Network was apart of my childhood and seeing as Cartoon Network was mentioned I thought I would show my appreciation.

It's not - it's something you let little boys watch when they've spent the night puking into a bowl :D

Any consolation, we're evaluating the mathematical content of bingo in a minute. :P

The implied message that you're no longer a child honestly comes as a shock to me.

It's called a free market economy.

Don't really have a problem with the network or the company - if I could get away with charging someone that sort of mark up I probably would...

lol however the part about "doesn't effect me" still confirms that he is an utter kernt

Utterly despicable in every way.

Just a legalised loan shark who should not be allowed to lend a single penny to a single soul. Why they were dignified with a Consumer Credit Licence is beyond me and a pathetic decision. Cartoon Network in particular should hang their heads in shame for accepting this ad on their channel at this time of year and so for that matter should any other channel who allow this immoral bunch of exploitative, money-grabbing scumbags to advertise. So many people to blame here and the victims (not customers QuickQuid) are the ones who will suffer as always.

Tbh. Anyone who is thick enough to borrow money off these w@nkers probably wouldn't be capable of hanging onto their money anyway.

And when they become homeless, alcohol dependant, jobless etc? Who pays for them then, after they spiralled into debt and developed depression?

You. You and me pick up the cost of the mess this disgusting business practice leaves in its wake. Whether or not you give a shit about the individuals dumb enough to use Quick Quid you should care about the ramifications for the economy and society at large.

Wait a second, is forcing having your kids to watch the Cartoon Network meant to be a punishment or a reward??? lol

True this one.

Most people are fortunate enough to be in a position to merely sneer at Quick Quid's business practice, some families though have no other option and it's these people who need to be protected from such evil shysters.

Talk about generalizing...

And if quickquid or others like them didn't exist do you think that their lives would be any better?

Perhaps, marginally. Daggers is obviously using hyperbole for the sakes of his argument but I don't doubt that companies like this have ploughed gulible or naive people further into debt. Obviously I don't have statistical evidence to back up my claim but it's easy to underestimate the power of desperation and we as a consumerist culture, particularly at this time of year, don't do a great deal to educate particularly well when it comes to finance.

They'd be less likely to enter into loans they couldn't afford to repay to unscrupulous lenders. Less likely to lose their home through their inability to repay an extortionate loan and less likely to encounter the stresses and strains that come with that. That's the problem with the easy credit attitude that has prevailed in the last decade, so many people have become dependent on it that now the bubble has burst we see vile little companies like Quick Quid springing up to cash in on people's misfortune. Perhaps less availability of credit is a good thing and would encourage people to live within their means?

Whichever way you choose to look at it though, 2356% APR is pretty immoral.

Yeah good one.

Seeing as it doesnt effect I dont see how that shows I'm a 'kernt' whatever that is meant to mean.

Yea - because there's no link between societal problems, addiction disorders, mental health issues and locked-in debt at all, is there?!

Talk about ignorant...

I'm not too sure how APR works... am I right in thinking that if someone were to (hypothetically, I know this type of loan system is meant to be short term) take a loan with this company for a year, they would pay back 2365% of what they borrowed over that year? And therefore if they took a loan for ten days, they would pay back x 2365/365 x 10?
