Leeds United manager Dennis Wise has been interviewed by police after he chased a youth who allegedly threw stones at his family car on New Year's Day.

The 41-year-old League One manager was driving his car in north Leeds after enjoying a meal with his family in the city centre when his vehicle came under attack by youths. :crylaugh:

Wise jumped out of his car at about 1am and chased a teenager, but he was unable to hold on to him. West Yorkshire Police said a 41-year-old man and a 13-year-old youth had been interviewed in connection with the incident and a police spokeswoman said there had been no arrests and no charges.

The spokeswoman said police were investigating criminal damage to a car and also an allegation of assault by a 13-year-old boy.

"Inquiries are ongoing," she added.

No one in Wise's 4x4 vehicle was injured during the incident which happened in Potternewton, in north Leeds, at about 1am on New Year's Day.

A spokesman for Leeds United said: "We can confirm that Dennis' vehicle was attacked.

"The police are investigating the matter and Dennis is cooperating fully with their investigations.

"His two children in the car were left very upset and his wife and mother-in-law were very shaken by the incident."

West Yorkshire Police confirmed a 41-year-old man and a 13-year-old youth had been questioned about the incident.

There had been no arrests or charges and police inquiries were continuing, a police statement said.

Mr Wise jumped out of his car when it came under attack by youths at Potternewton in north Leeds and chased one but could not hold on to him.

Police said they were investigating criminal damage to a car and also an allegation of assault by a 13-year-old boy.

'Very shaken'

Mr Wise was returning from a family meal in a city centre restaurant when the incident happened at about 0100 GMT on New Year's Day.

A spokesman for Leeds United said: "We can confirm that Dennis's vehicle was attacked.

"The police are investigating the matter and Dennis is cooperating fully with their investigations.

"His two children in the car were left very upset and his wife and mother-in-law were very shaken by the incident."

He has been manager of the side for the past 14 months and has steered Leeds into the play-off places in Coca-Cola League One this season, despite the club being hit with a 15-point deduction for breaking strict rules on insolvency after going into administration last summer.

If I had my wife and mother-in-law and two kids in my car coming home from a family meal and then some chavs attacked my car I would have kicked they head in.

Can't stand Dennis Wise but I can't blame him for defending his family.

I hate denise Wise. i really do. in footballing terms i hope he fails miserably and gets sacked.

But that kind of situation is unacceptable - he shouldnt have his car targeted and its just plain wrong his family and kids have been brought into it - some youths today are beginning to think they are untouchable

How many men would NOT chase after kids throwing stones at his car when his kids are int he same car?

If that happened to me you can guarantee the police still wouldnt have been round yet to "sort out" the matter.

What does he expect, you cant be a nasty little bastard all your career and not expect stuff like this to happen.

Title doesn't really tell the story as it is, does it.

Hows about- Wise defends his pregnant wife and kids from scummy chavs.

If he had done something serious he would be facing charges for battery, not assault. Making someone feel intimidated is what constitutes assault in the eyes of the law, that's as little as it takes.

What pisses me off most about this story is the parents. To start with what are 13yr olds doing out at 1AM in the morning? Then, when kid comes 'crying home', saying he's been assaulted, they don't question the blatantly illegal criminal damage he was carrying out, but because it was someone famous- pound signs light up in their eyes and they run to the police and probably to the media. Says it all about the state of this country.

I ****ing salute Wise. If that was I'd have kicked these chavs' head in. (depending on their age of course)

I think you right. In fairness to Wise he's in a lose-lose situation. If he had not done anything then he would have put his family in potential danger and he if had reacted (as he did) he'd get in trouble with the authorities.

Says a lot about the state of this country.

I ****ing salute W**e.

Treason of the worst order..:angry::angry:

The only time you should type those words is if the little scumbag tops himself.

So the poison dwarf may have met someone who's possibly even more of a lout than he is? It's a wonder Leicester's hospitals manage to function, with so many bleeding hearts to treat this week..

How would he have treated any of his players involved in such an incident on the eve of a game? He'd have thrown the book at them (regardless of provocation) for being out on the road at that time at night.

There are some people who are so vile and repulsive that they do not deserve the courtesy of being treated as human beings. Ian Huntley is a case in point.

The poison dwarf is another.
