Chandler Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Will he, won't he? Let me refresh your memories about what Mandy is all about. Mandy wants LCFC because it is the only club with a top flight infrastructure capable of making it and surviving in the Prem that is available for next to nothing. But the guaranteed new Sky deal of £30m + groundshare + property sales is all small screen to him. The big movie is the possibility of an MLS franchise. Allow me a few seconds to gloat... who was it who FIRST told you that it was a cert that Becks would move to LA Galaxy long before the 'official' pen was put to paper? The UK media would have had us believe that this was a spur of the moment thing because Real wouldn't up his contract. Allow me a few more second to gufffaw...this deal was in the pipeline since - wait for it - 2003! OK, let me indulge my ego a little more (and rub the noses of a few mods in their own poo for banning me and preventing me from telling you all this months ago). I also informed you that Malcolm Glazer came in for Man U with the specific intention of exporting the brand to the MLS and that I further stated that possibly as early as the 2008/9 season LA Galaxy would have a Manure makeover. The dull witted sceptic mods, of course, poo-pooed (go on, snort up all the brown bits on the carpet!) all this. But look at the evidence of the last six months: 1) Randy Lerner takes over the Vile. 2) Gillett and Hicks move in on the red Scouse shites (the reported £470 million offer is yet another example of media innumeracy - the hockey girls have barely put up a tenth of this figure to purchase around £170 million of the club's equity). 3) Three days ago Arsenal announce a tie up with Colarado Rapids 4) Yesterday Chelsea announced a tie up with DC United (there are rumours that Abramovitchs non appearance at recent matches maybe due to yet another Yank rather than any spat with 'the special one') And there are going to be more US takeover's and tie ups over the next few months. Over time, English club brands will be exported to the US. Imperceptibly, the MLS will morph into the Premiership and American club 'soccer' will come to dominate both the US domestic sports scene generally (displacing NFL NBA. baseball, hockey etc) as well as world football in particular (the English Premiership will be a complete backwater by the middle of the century). This as much a political enterprise as it is economic. A graphic example of globalisation in action. Where was I? Oh yes, MANDY. Word on the street has it he was very miffed that one or two LCFC shareholders were just a little bit miffed that they were expected to pay him to take their shares. He is now 'exploring' similar opportunities with one or two MLS chairmen I understand. * Why did Capello pick Goldenballs against Real Sociedad? Because LA Galaxy told him to. After the initial rush, season ticket sales started to stall at the Home Depot Center as Becks' profile began to slip as all his bending took place behind closed doors (ironically it was his prospective employers who demanded that he should not kick another ball in anger for the Real cause just in case, putting it Biblically, he dashed his foot against a stone). To their eternal shame Real caved in (no doubt salivating over the prospect of a few more Californian pre season exhibition matches) rather than insist that the Galaxy stump up the 'nominal' £5 million or so required to take the Hollywood want away (tis all true I'm afraid) off their hands.
Geo V Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 As we are in American madland, have you been smoking a "blunt" or nine mate?!
Flynny Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Entertaining, but a wee bit nebulous. What are you driving at?

To be fair Chandler theres a big differnce between correctly predicting David Beckham will move to LA Galaxy (there have been rumours for years as you've said) and your view on the future of world football and LCFC.

Phlashman Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 ...and 9/11 was actually done by eskimos who actually control the world and it's leaders. And what is your point?

brookfox Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Excuse my ignorance, and this is all very interesting, but what has this got to do with me as a fan? So Mandy wants to grow us to a certain level and then sell us off to an American as a "Soccer" brand that they can then use in the US. Surely to do this we need success on the pitch (even the new Liverpool owners acknowledge this) which to be honest is all I'm interested in (up to a point, I don't want to be the new Hearts!). I don't get it.

Chandler seems to think that Mandaric will try and get Leicester to twin up with an MLS team, creating plenty of money for MM and for the club short term, possibly long term.

Dr The Singh Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Chandler, you should join Major Sandhu on his show, and tell the truth as it is!!!
davieG Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Who cares? The 'middle of the century' I'll be long gone.
Geo V Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 not a blunt, this boys high on pure poo That cant be the easiest thing to smoke or inject? All this American talk is crap. The Americans will never take to football just like we will never totally take into baseball, American football or Basketball. If football was going to take off over there it would have done when the likes of Pele were playing there or after the World Cup took place over there. It will always be a girls sport or a kids sport (more kids play over there than can be imagined) and never a spectactor event, regardless of how many South Americans, Irish or Italians are over there who love our version of football. AS for the American investors, of course they will come here because the idea is to make there clubs value increase and then sell them on. They are way ahead in marketing skills than we are and they will use that knowledge to increase revenue for there clubs. They are also improving there personal profile world-wide which will increase there profits for there other businesses. It wouldnt surprise me to hear that the dumb Mancs are walking around in Tampa Bay Buccaneers merchandise and maybe some Japanese and Chinese Man Utd fans!

He did have, however I seem to remeber him having quite a bit to say about Beckhams move to the U.S, and how it wouldn't work. The impression I get is that MM thinks football will never be big in the U.S
London_Fox Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Truly brilliant conspiracy theory stuff. Makes sense up to a point (Americans wanting to get football, linking up to the best league e.g. the premiership etc etc etc) but where is the evidence for this whole Beckham only playing because LA Galaxy told Real to play him stuff? That's a pretty big claim to make with no evidence. One of the worlds largest and most powerful clubs has been told who to pick by an MLS side. To start with can you provide evidence of dropping season ticket sales at LA? Then anything as to how LA influenced Real? Maybe, and call me crazy here if you want, Capello played Bekham because Real were going through a very difficult time, he was faced with losing his job and so backtracked on an earlier statement...seeing as Beckham scored it seemed to work well (unless Sociedad were told by LA to let Beckham score...for season ticket sales of course). "This as much a political enterprise as it is economic." That bit is my favourite. Those dastardly clever Americans are using football to take control of the world. We're being distracted by wars in Iraq, threats to Iran, McDonalds, economic globalisation and the use of the security council veto when in fact it's nothing more then a clever ruse so we don't notice how they take control using 'soccer.' Brilliant!
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Who cares? The 'middle of the century' I'll be long gone. Really wanted to post a joke with the pharse " middle of next week " involved somewhere, but that would just be mean.
Bluefoxtim Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Are you a member of the Flat Earth Society?

You're telling me that all those people singing "Milan is a Leicester fan" are lying and he's actually in it for the money?! The caniving swine. I propose a new chant of "Milan is a business man".
Manwell Pablo Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 why didn't he just form 'Pittsburg Pompey'? The "Theory" is we are a more marketable clubs than Portsmouth, better facilties bigger fan base Foxes as the nickname etc.

josh_baskin Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Was there ever an American consortium interested in LCFC in the initial take over talks or has Mandy been the shareholders only option from day one?

Manwell Pablo Posted 12 February 2007 Posted 12 February 2007 Hopefully wrong as well. Years left you in yet, I'm sure you stll be around when we're renamed "Team-Foxes-England" Puts Leicester Fosse into perspective anyway.
