Mattock hands in transfer request

Heya!, Baggies fan here just wanted to see what your thoughts were on Mattock, there is not much really going on with him and us as fair as i can tell in the media, the only really information was they we was 'considering' a bid, so not so sure if we actually will, the rest has just been speculation.

We need a new left back, our 'badge kisser','air puncher' went to Bolton. We tried to get Danny Fox as far as i know but our old manager poached him off us, so we may go in for mattock or might just go for a typical cheap option.

I see some people from reading threads think hes over rated, so not sure what i think about him yet.

West Bromwich Albion have made a bid for England Under-21 star Joe Mattock, skysports.com understands.

The Baggies are looking to bolster their options at left-back following the departure of Paul Robinson to Bolton.

Now Baggies boss Roberto Di Matteo has made his move and has opened talks with Leicester about Mattock.

Mattock has come through the ranks at the Walkers Stadium and, despite only being 19 years old, he has made over 70 first-team appearances.

Mattock played a major part in Leicester's League One title-winning campaign last term, but now the Baggies are confident they can seal a deal for the youngster.

Radio Leicester - he wanted to move a year ago as well. If that's the way he feels, he can fook off.

This.... he was shite last season anyway. Hope we get a decent amount.

This is another of those: my cousins, aunties, labrador type replies - but...........

According to his grandma he's staying at Leicester - I know this as she is also my grandma, and my dad asked her on Sunday.

Take from that what you will :P

Either your/his grandma doesnt have a lot of clout with him or youre a lier! :D

If he's been desperate to go for two years then that probably explains why he was so shite last season. Sounds like a bit of a cunt of a thing to do in all honesty, I thought he was a boyhood fan?

Unless something comes to light which shows a genuine reason as to why he has been unhappy, Mattock can fu*k off and do one.

If he wanted to go last season that would perhaps explain why he didn't make the massive leaps forward last season that we all expected.

If NFP knew he wasn't happy and wanted to leave then perhaps he got the cold shoulder treatment.

Perhaps the McGinty rumours are true

If he goes it will be interesting to see what happens with the 2 million, another defender purchased or McGinty on loan and an expensive new striker?

It will certainly set the rumours off again.

Mattock promised so much but he hasn't really improved much over the last couple of years, much like Stearman did.

I think it's wise to cash in, especially if he isn't happy.

Cheerio Joe, we most likely won't miss you.

Good riddance.

Fingers crossed this will see McGivern coming in and then Nigel having a bit of money to play with over the next 3 weeks. Thinking about it we will be up on the deal- better left back and hopefully a bit of quality added in the final third.

He struggled in league 1........ best of luck with him

He's certainly got a lot to learn. Not what i'd call a clever defender. Is he capable of learning these basics? :dunno: His slower than expected development is worrying.

We won't miss him this season, but whether we will in three years time, who knows. We'll watch on with interest.

Really?

Which station?

Radio Leicester, it was from the press conference today, will say more later and it said that Pearson had "strong feelings" on the subject, so it'll probably be clips of him going mental.

Official Confirmation by Ian Stringer

Hi all,

BBC Radio Leicester was told by manager Nigel Pearson that full back Joe Mattock has handed in a transfer request and will leave the club very soon.

Interestingly, he also handed in the same request this time last year but stayed.

The City boss has some very strong thoughts on the matter.

There will be Nigel Pearson's reaction on Drivetime with Martin Ballard on 104.9fm tonight from 6 o'clock.

Thoughts?

Regards,

Ian

No problem at all with this. We are at least 2 years away from being in the Baggies position so whatever you think this is a step up for him and may see him looking at his first season in the Prem in 12 months time. Good luck to him. Take the cash and move on.
