flanimal Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 McGivern on loan, maybe even sign that leftback Venkov from CSKA that Bulgarian guy mentioned. If we get £2 or more for him, West Brom are getting robbed. I'd bite their hand off... The Brom folk obviously haven't watched Mattock as much as we have! £2m in and we can continue paying DJ's wages for another few years.
Legend_in_blue Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 No he didn't - if anything, he deputised to Berner and accomplished very little last season apart from getting skinned by Mark Yeates...And whoever mentioned the possiblity of a tribunal is wrong - he's under a Leicester contract for God's sake! And he also got pulled to pieces by that Taylor guy from Oldham. Let's face it, everyone was much happier when either Powell or Berner was playing the position last season.
JoeyB Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Song for him next season: You only went for the money! Went for the Money!
flanimal Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I think this is fantastic business. Mattock always seemed like a dumb, cocky twat. This has just re-affirmed my belief that Pearson is a brilliant manager!
Edmund Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Breaking News Mattocks basketball was reportedly seen in West Bromwich today.
JoeyB Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 This could be the most excited i have been all summer! Over football anyway!
MPH Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Joe Mattock handed in transfer request and wants a move "As soon as possible" - BBC Radio Leicester. Hello there and welcome - all the best for he season. In response to your previous post about what do we think of him...... It appears he has been unhappy for some time.... last year he didnt really seem to be at the races and was not showing the promise and potential of when he first broke into the team... if he wants a move and gets the move he wants then it could remotivate him and you might have a gem on your hand. However, if you get the mattock of last season - Good luck. You might find yourself buying another LB in January.
RowlattsFox Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I do think we're selling our best left back, and we do need to replace him, I'm not keen on Berner at left back and Powell will play very little i imagine. If he wants to go then he can, I'm not particularly bothered, hope we get decent money.
Hackneyisblue Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 The Brom folk obviously haven't watched Mattock as much as we have! £2m in and we can continue paying DJ's wages for another few years. Thanks flanimal! That has just brought me right back down again.
richardsfoxes Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Has alot of potencial, if he wants to go elsewhere though fook him. Use the money on a new striker, Beckford
Hackneyisblue Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 He's a boyhood Leicester fan, wtf is he playing at? Try entering the real world.
Ozwin Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I know, but you like to think people have some sort of loyalty to the club that made them.
Fox You Forest Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I imagine NP is annoyed at the timing, he could have said he wanted to leave earlier in the summer so we had time to spend the cash on other players before the season started. If the money is made available that is.
Ricey Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I know, but you like to think people have some sort of loyalty to the club that made them. Unfortunatley not everyone is like that. I call them c*nts
Jon the Hat Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Silly boy. Yeah what kind of idiot leaves a newly promoted team with no money for a Club who will most likely bounce straight back to the Prem in 9 months time, and in the meantime getting a shed load more cash in the process.
Milky Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 A coward aswell Furious Foxes manager Nigel Pearson said: "It's a situation that has been driven by him."In terms of confirming where he goes and for how much, I can't do that, but I'd expect it to be resolved shortly." Pearson said the manner of the request had infuriated him. "I like to deal with people straight up," he said. "I don't like it when the player rings the chairman when we are playing a pre-season game to ask to leave when he is out of the country on international duty. "That gives you a taste of the situation and we'll wait and see what happens." Mattock also requested a move from the Walkers Stadium before the start of last season but stayed and helped the club win the League One title. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ity/8188088.stm
L.C.F.C. Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/spor...il/article.html Personally, I think this is yet another piece of good business by Nigel Pearson. As said by others, decent young prospect who hasn't exactly lived up to his acclaim thus far. Just wish this had happened a few weeks ago so that if NP does get the money, he would've had more options to spend it. Even if we wanted to go in for Beckford now, would we get him??? even with (potentially) £2m in the bank?? Leeds would probably try to con us out of more than that. That's IF we want Beckford. Back to the same issue....................what strikers are available for the money??
Shane Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Ok if we sell him, get armand traore on loan from arsenal. He'll replace mattock, and hes better and hes arsenals third choice left back behind keiran gibbs and clichy + traore is only 19 and spent last season on loan to portsmouth where ofc he did very well. And then spend the cash on a striker. Done
GLC Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 Didn't he say he was Leicester through and through? Cock! Get rid of him, never really bothered about him Friday, July 24, Joe Mattock has again dismissed speculation about his future and insists he is focused on bringing his England form back to Leicester City. The teenage defender is in the Ukraine preparing with England Under-19s for their clash with the home nation this afternoon (5.30). The young Lions launched their European Championship bid with a 1-1 draw against Switzerland on Tuesday with Mattock, who has also featured for the under-21s, scoring his first goal for his country. Since he broke into City's first team in 2007, the homegrown player has been linked with Premier League sides Everton, Aston Villa and West Ham, as well as Championship club Ipswich. One newspaper report suggested earlier this month that City chairman Milan Mandaric would consider selling Mattock for £2million. However, the 19-year-old deflected attention away from the speculation and set out his twin goals. He said: "You're not going to go through a summer without speculation, and when you are playing for England, you're going to get it. "When it happens, you deal with it but I'm focused on playing well for England and then taking that back with me to Leicester. "We're aiming to do well in the Championship and we'll be looking to get a few wins under our belt and make a good start." City manager Nigel Pearson admitted this week that he would have rather had Mattock, right, involved in his pre-season build-up. If England were to progress to the Euro final on August 2, Mattock will have missed all of City's warm-up games, and will arrive back just six days before the season-opener against Swansea. Pearson, who takes his City side to Shrewsbury tomorrow for their latest friendly, said: "I would rather have him here with us. I worked with England for three years and it's never easy. "The tournaments are not always at the right time for us (the clubs), but then sometimes it is not the right time for them. "But he is getting some pitch-time and he's a fit lad, and when he comes back he will have no problems." Mattock said he is in good shape through the work he is doing in the England camp. He said: "I'm definitely benefiting from it all. The temperatures are ideal and the training is good, and I'll be fit and ready when I return to Leicester." Mattock said his free-kick strike against Switzerland was the result of a lot of work on the training ground. He said: "The kick was on the edge of the box and a good position for me. There were two players on the end of the wall but I managed to get it through. "It was great to get my first goal and it's just a shame it wasn't the winner."
Jon the Hat Posted 6 August 2009 Posted 6 August 2009 I would think in general a player would request a trasfer when he becomes aware that it is an option. Was he supposed to wait until he got back? I think Nigel should probably keep his mouth shut to be honest.
