tbf Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 I wonder how long it will be before we can be introduced in the media as simply Leicester City. Don't get me wrong, I adore what Sven is doing with the club but Sven is not bigger than Leicester. At first it felt good but now it gnaws a me a little bit every time we are introduced as Sven-Goran Eriksson's Leicester City, we're a club in our own right with a proud history. So what I look forward to is being a club big enough to drop the 'Sven' but with Sven still at the helm.
Ajax Treesdown Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 I don't care as long as he gets us playing football
Christoph Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 I don't care as long as he gets us playing football This. I coudlnt care less if we were known as Svens bumboys, if were winning games and attracting top players, then im fine with it!
DB11 Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 This. I coudlnt care less if we were known as Svens bumboys, if were winning games and attracting top players, then im fine with it! Or Man City's reserves!
ithuriel Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 when o'niell was here we were martin oniells leicester and before that mark mcghees and before that brian littles. Just the media being the media is all and having big names at the club raises the clubs profile and annoys my manager who supports derby county

So what I look forward to is being a club big enough to drop the 'Sven' but with Sven still at the helm. It's not really that unusual if you think about it. Most football teams are prefixed with their manager's names, be it 'Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United', or 'Paul Dickov's Oldham'. It's a sign of their mark on the team that they are managing at the time. I.e. We as a whole are Leicester City, but at the moment (and, I hope, for a long time to come), we are Sven's Leicester City. I like it personally. It's not really any different than us singing that we are 'Sven Goran Eriksson's Blue and White Army'.
Bryn Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 Sven is definitely more pre-eminent than Leicester, but I have every faith that he wants us to progress to his level and beyond, and that's what counts.
Alexikokopops Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 I don't think it's quite reached the levels of "Roy Keane's Ipswich Town"
Blanesta Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 I don't think it shows Sven to be bigger then us, I think it just suggests how important his role is with us, and shows total unity with him and our club. With the cash being pumped in a can't think of anyone available and more experienced in the game to be spending and building. Sven-Goran Erikssons blue and white army
Asherz Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 can i point out in the papers lat year numerous time we were called nigel pearsons leicester city ... on the news we were called that as well...
wellyfox Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 And if we was Bill Smith's LCFC would we have the YAK, DV, and Sol LA LA LA LA Bamba ?????????????? And at the end of the day WHO CARE'S we know who we are.
ta-fc Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 pathetic... Some 'fans' are never happy. I'd change our name to spam fritter's leicester massive to see us playing like we are... Would you rather us be Leicester City Lg1 contenders or Paulo Sousas bunch o tards. **** unbelievable...
Jakemoore Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 No one person is bigger then our entire club, but like many have said, the media can call us what they want as long as we are still on the up as we are now.
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 What gets me is that when we sign someone, it sounds like they have come to play for Sven, Not Leicester. Not that i care :sge:
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 What gets me is that when we sign someone, it sounds like they have come to play for Sven, Not Leicester. Not that i care :sge: They probably have. But if it gets them here then great. Once they're here there'll be plenty of time to find out how good the club itself is.
Kitchandro Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 I sort of know what you mean. If we get promotion I don't want it to be all about 'what an achievement it is for Sven'. I mean Sven should get great credit don't get me wrong, but I do get the feeling that the media might actually forget the name of our Club now and again.
Dom_Harborough Fox Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 Its true that the media are more interested in Sven than the club but we can't control the media so we might as well just sit back & enjoy what a great job he's doing. It doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks or how our achievments are perceived by the media.
crazylegs1984 Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 This thread is b@llockz when we had oneill in charge the whole stadium would martin o neils blue and white army no one raised a eyebrow but yet again some leicester fans are finding something to moan about behave yaself and enjoy the ride instead of finding something to moan about
blueredswed Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 Sven is not Leicester Sven is Sven a great great leader of the BLUE! We will welcome him back too Sweden tomorrow if it would bee so. But.... and that is a big buttttt.... he will win premiere league with Leicester and I think he would! Give him 5 years perhaps 6 and hereeeeeee weeeeeee goes!!!!!! Come on BLUE!
I am Rod Hull Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 Cue the sarcastic comment agreeing with everything he just said.
Corky Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 Sven is a bigger name in football than Leicester City. He's managed far bigger clubs and national teams at World Cups. As long as we are successful I don't mind if we are Sven's Leicester or whatever.
MikeyT Posted 30 January 2011 Posted 30 January 2011 No one is bigger than the club. It will still be here when we are all long gone.

As long as we are successful I don't mind if we are Sven's Leicester or whatever. This is true,... its not saying he's bigger than the club but he's certainly a bigger name world wide, people the other side of the world will of heard of sven but possibly not LCFC! Still a pointless thread though (sorry)
