Nwaneri was 15 when he started in the prem and it's done him no harm. If they are ready they are ready. And loads of 16 year olds have gone on to be elite players too.

That is 100% the reason. The last thing TV companies want is quick re-starts. Next time you watch a game keep an eye on how much is actually missed because of replays.
