  1. Doesn't help either that "immigrants" are talked about as a monolith when some immigration flows are more successful than others
  2. Trips abroad are fun but ideally you want confidence builders against tiny non league teams where you can play the youth, something like Bromley perhaps.
  3. Connections Puzzle #1065 🟦🟦🟦🟦 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟩🟩πŸŸͺ🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩 πŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺπŸŸͺ
  4. BBC Alba showing Napoli vs Bologna because of the Scottish contingent and an Englishman scores the winner
  5. Cambridge away in August would be lovely...
  6. Depends, the levels of superstitiousness in southern and eastern europe and probably South America is on a whole other level to here. My girlfriend has all sorts of slightly insane rituals even when throwing rubbish out and woe betide me if I step on something in an unlucky way
  7. Just a little bit more right wing brexitism bro, I swear just a bit more and this country will be fixed, honestly.
  8. Nice place imo, can see Ireland on a clear day
  9. You've been predicting ww3 and a forest europa win for months. If I had to choose which of them I didn't want to come true, obviously it's this one.
  10. That Arsenal away game still pains me even if it didn't make a difference. Just about forgave Wasilewski, but only just.
  11. Having lived a few years in grimy North London I don't associate their fan base with ya Ollies, ya Tobies. Which is funny because in the late 90s they were your quintessential club of the middle class nouveau fan, as spoofed in the fast show.
  12. Come to think of it, we've never been the same since Leicester cathedral was closed for work in January 2022, the same year York started their rise back up the leagues. Somebody obviously disturbed the tomb during renovations...
  13. How many leagues below us were they at one point? I only ask so I can shock friends down the pub when they're a league above us next year.
  14. Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana
  15. I love the idea of a Polish politician making his name campaigning to get rid of the Poles
  16. In the age of the Internet and mass media it's inevitable English speaking countries will to some extent start speaking and thinking American. I don't think it's even that deliberate or conscious. People think I'm joking when I say we should make the language of Britain Welsh again...
  17. I think football will go the same was as most culture in the internet age. An Americanised mush that retains very little national characteristics or differences save for whatever superficial 'fan culture' the producers want to highlight, served up in bite sized chunks to an audience whose attention span can't last past five minutes. There'll be huge, rich clubs, and there'll be no money non-league clubs, but nothing in between.
  18. This is repeating a lot I've posted on this thread but: See - museo di san Marco, especially early in the morning. Eat - il pizzaiolo is the best pizza in the city. Covered market used to have great food but it's probably very touristy now. I used to go loads to Benvenuto, not sure if it's still good. Drink - around Piazza santo spirito and the quieter parts over the arno have some good bars. Some good places to eat round Santo spirito too. Day trips - Siena is absolutely full but still a beautiful city. Lucca is quite nice. Fiesole and Settignano two nice villages with great views of Florence.
  19. Shouldn't have done Connections Puzzle #1058 πŸŸͺ🟩🟨🟨 πŸŸͺ🟩🟨🟨 🟨🟨🟨🟨 🟦🟦🟦🟦 πŸŸͺ🟩πŸŸͺπŸŸͺ πŸŸͺπŸŸͺ🟩πŸŸͺ
  20. Looking at these I may not even bother
  21. He's missing his true calling of being an angry audience member on question time
  22. Wellens interview is exactly what we don't want imo. You don't see really good managers slagging off players in public unless it's Mourinho a week before he gets sacked. I realise of course we aren't in the market for "really good managers".
