Tonight I get to have the unique experience of buying the first drinks in one currency and subsequent rounds in another https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/dec/28/bulgaria-europe-eurozone-russia-disinformation-economy

The Cornish have long resisted cultural takeover by English invaders

50 years this week since the release of one of the most beautiful films ever made.

Very mid 2000s kind of signing. Sexy foreign player, people get a bit excited, turns out to be amateurish, plays 10 games and leaves.

They gave it to him afterwards to hang in his flat

Wasn't it TWS at 8am, something else at 9, Football Italia at 10 and NBA at 11? I remember sitting in my living room watching Channel 4 all morning as my family slowly got up and wandered downstairs.

God love Derby. You can always rely on them for 6 points.

no idea, just got it on in the background while browsing the M&S winter sale

In his defence I think Levein always played strikers, it's just they happened to be Mark de Vries and Chris O'Grady

He's like a guy on January 2nd who's decided to take up jogging then gives up the next day

Even if you want Leicester to lose, which I can never bring myself to do, you should never want Derby to win.
-
That is abysmal defending
-
Real dilemma, I have a couple of very nice beers in the fridge and Roma vs Genoa is on tele and I'm at my girlfriend's place with a very large TV and comfy sofa. At the same time it's Derby and I'm not sure I can resist watching on my laptop and ruining my evening.

well you'll be pleased to know millions of Europeans are now leaving (maybe escaping is a better word). https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15403461/great-exodus-Brexit-Romanians-crime-NHS-cost-living.html I'm sure those things you mention - "issues for the working classes with wages and conditions being stifled, training non existent and money being earned then moved out of the Country" - will all improve now. Golden years ahead!

Then a police shoot out in the evening!

Would like to see some stats. Would go out on a limb and say that European migrants in the UK contribute slightly more to the economy than Brits in Europe (who I imagine are still net positive), though of course we decided to opt out of freedom of movement meaning we get fewer productive migrants here and they get fewer of our old fogies.

I'm thinking about meeting English immigrants in Bulgaria who didn't really like Bulgarians but liked Bulgaria because it doesn't have a lot of immigrants, then voted for Brexit because they thought there were too many immigrants in England, which resulted for them in a lot of trips to the Bulgarian immigration office....

Probably 50% of British 'expats' I've met hate the population they've chosen to surround themselves with. This guy seems a little more unsavoury however and leaving aside the calls for deportation I'm always surprised at the lengths some Brit liberals will go to defend or at least partially excuse abhorrent and dangerous views when they come from certain groups. Haven't really come across this anywhere else.
