That's why I said "I think", I haven't followed it that closely and I recollected reading that he had been quite pro-Israel in his posts but perhaps he's been more reserved and balanced than I realised. Wouldn't be over the moon about any Israeli playing for us at the moment but I guess you can't choose where you're born. Your post was quite good until the last sentence...

He's posted quite a lot of stuff on social media in support of the Israeli government and army, I think. Which he's entitled to, just don't really want him playing here, though I know my personal opinion has no influence on the club's decision.

Going to have to watch this again. Loved this film when it came out. More time has passed since then than between the film's release and the fall of the Berlin Wall...

Picked a great time to check out this thread after a few weeks

Even Man United would not lower themselves to appointing a man who thought John Rambo was played by Bruce Willis

I'd always recommend Sicily. Lots of very interesting history and culture. East Coast is quite popular, Taormina in particular is a bit of a tourist trap now though still beautiful. I lived in Palermo which is an amazing city but quite overrun by the air bnb crowds now unfortunately. I love the west coast, parts of it feel very remote and there are some glorious beaches and islands. Puglia also has a lot of medieval sites and especially further south it's quite easy to find pretty secluded stretches of very beautiful coastline One region I really want to explore is Basilicata which I've only ever been through on the train. Has miles of very under developed coast and some quite wild mountainous parts in the interior.

Would love to do a big trip through north Africa. Always dreamt of a Casablanca - Cairo trip. Should've done it when I lived in Sicily before all the problems in Libya.

I've become more conservative as I get older but I haven't really become more right wing as the right has proved unwilling to conserve anything good about Britain and are mostly just disoriented and angry at our country's relative decline and incapable of doing anything about it other than moan about irrelevancies.

I got called both a leftie and 'Mary Whitehouse' on here within the space of a few days...

There are plenty of more conservative posters here, it's hardly an echo chamber. Probably like 60/40 lefties at a guess. Just that it's easier for left wingers / liberals as they have more specific policy to point to e g. Brexit. And a lot of more right wing posters come across as a bit loony and preoccupied with fighting the liberal elite in their head, like the points above about how football fans are criticized more than the carnival which is is obviously very silly on a number of levels.

Thought about it but don't have the ability or perseverance. Would like to write a non fiction book though, but that requires a lot of research I don't really have time for. Best of luck to anybody trying to do it.

I love the idea that the Notting Hill Carnival of all things never gets criticism.
