  1. Crimson Peak. Maybe not the strongest, best film by Guillermo Del Toro. I still like it a lot. The atmosphere, the set dec, the lighting, the costumes, ... and very good casting. Only gripe I have, is that the ghost aspect in the house never gets a resolve. And Charlie Hunnam's character's side story should've been fleshed out more. Regardless, a great gothic horror movie.
  2. Enter the Mercury or the BBC... Oh.
  3. Altered States. Trippy.
  4. That one, Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and the Life Aquatic. Quintessential quirky Wes Anderson. The rest... Meh. Maybe Grand Budapest Hotel to some extent.
  5. You can only repeat the same formula so many times. I‘d argue Anderson hit his creative peak with The Life Aquatic.
  6. Singer Richard Darbyshire ("Living In A Box"), dead at age 65.
  7. Definitely. More indie, more raw, more independent, more lo-fi, more of a treasure. "Murmur" is unrivaled, and that was their debut. I particularly like the sped-up Chronic Town version of Ages Of You:
  8. What an album:
  9. De La Soul are back (as a duo, after the passing of Plug Two): Album "Cabin In The Sky" is out in eleven days.
  10. Ilya Repin's Ivan The Terrible and His Son Ivan also has that haunting quality:
  11. Speaking of LA in the 1980ies, one of my favourite flicks is Repo Man. Iggy Pop as part of the soundtrack. Emilio Estevez in the lead, plus Harry Dean Stanton. Shame Alex Cox wasn't given more big budget directing opportunities. Still making movies, though.
  12. Watched Live and Die in LA last week. Such a cool movie. The action, the style, the fashion, the actors. Willem Dafoe, William Peterson, John Torturro, Dean Stockwell, Darlanne Fluegel (hot). And a very young Robert Downey (Jr.). Boasts one of the best (and most confusing) car chase sequences in cinema history. Soundtrack by Wang Chung. For me, it's William Friedkin's best movie, better than French Connection. I'm fascinated looking at the LA from 40 years ago and how it has changed.
  13. Big fan of Japanese ukiyo-e (woodblock print). Most of you know "The Wave" by Hokusai. Here's a famous one: The tryptich Takiyasha the Witch and the Skeleton Spectre by Kuniyoshi.
  14. For the art lovers and connaisseurs... My favourite (sadly not available outside the US as a print; and it's very pricey): The Ghosts of Vimy Ridge (war memorial in Vimy, France) by Australian William Longstaff. Hangs in the Parliament building in Ottawa, Canada.
  15. The sequel mania continues – Gremlins 3 is coming: https://people.com/new-gremlins-movie-coming-out-in-2027-11844960
  16. I expect an official statement soon.
  17. a) Who says they can read? b) Even if they can, who knows whether they still know what "being shocked" actually means?
  18. So from what I gather, the moronic chant in question was sung by only a very small portion of the traveling away fans. As a logical consequence, they do not represent the fanbase as a whole. The club could've acknowledged that and spun it more positively. I find it rather ironic that similar chants in the past have – as far as I can remember – never caused such a reaction. To me, that's a rather thin-skinned statement. Imagine the club regularly scolding supporters for their chants. As others have stated, it's also ironic that the club finally manages to address its supporters directly, after years of silence and ignorance.
  19. Club statement: We welcome the statement issued today by our supporter groups and representatives from the Fan Advisory Board. Some of the chanting heard from sections of our away support at Norwich on Saturday crossed a serious line. Abuse or language that incites harm towards individuals, or discriminates against anyone, has no place at our Club, in football or in our society. We also want to make clear our support for our staff and leadership. Personal abuse of any kind is unacceptable. The people who represent Leicester City work with dedication and integrity every day, and with the Club’s best interests at heart. No one should be subjected to targeted or hateful language while doing their job. We are proud of our supporters for calling this out. It’s a shared responsibility across the whole Leicester City family to ensure our game remains free of this kind of behaviour and language. It’s always been clear how much passion and love our supporters have for their Club. It’s what makes Leicester City special. But we ask all fans to consider how that passion is expressed, and to ensure it never crosses a line that undermines the values that can bring us together.
  20. Start him in the No. 10 role in the next match and see how he does. To me, he's neither a striker nor a winger. And he's not getting any younger or faster.
  21. Again, his tactics and substitutions baffled me. We were second-best for 75 minutes against one of the worst teams in the league right now. The equalizer came out of nowhere, a product of sheer luck. Our football continues to be a pain to watch. Whatever way you want to spin it, 2 wins in 11 matches or 3 wins in 12 matches, that's underwhelming to bad. The win against Norwich has bought Cifuentes some time. To rethink his approach and to finally settle for a starting XI. Also, we need a third striker in January. And two more outfield defenders.
  22. Pluribus is good, I mean really good. X-Files meets Breaking Bad. Vince Gilligan has done it again. Just started watching. Man, if they manage to keep up the suspense...
  23. Lucky, lucky. But Norwich were mostly shit.
  24. CIfuentes may have gotten himself a lifeline. Great cross, great header. 2-1, Jordan James.
