Ok, so clearly.... this is a very sensitive subject, fraught with dangers and pitfalls when discussing. Firstly, let me be abundantly clear. I absolutely abhor any kind of activity that relates to the violence we have seen over recent days. It's genuinely the ugly side of society that most of us would be glad to see the back of. Additionally, I am of the view, having grown up in and around Leicester, that multi-culturalism is a wonderful and enriching thing. However... I also don't think we can be entirely dismissive of the discussion. There are legitimate concerns around immigration levels into the UK. Now personally, the numbers of people coming in small boats, aren't the problem. The daily mail would like to make you think they were. Those numbers are immaterial. BUT....... as a country, we have almost criminally underinvested in our societal structures over the last couple of decades. We haven't built enough housing (so net positives in Migration only exacerbates this), we have underfunded ALL of our front line services, people's experience of the NHS, Police response, dentists, doctors, have all declined rapidly... alongside a real reduction in living standards. People want something ti blame and the last government did a hugely successful job of pointing the finger at one scapegoat. We can't sustainably have net migration at 600,000 a year. it's impossible. but we do need to encourage people to come and live in the UK, as our birth rates aren't replacing our death rates and as such, we won't have enough working people to support state pensions in 30 years time. this needs a thought out strategy and very very very effective communication. Political parties can't use it as a hot potato any more. it's going to take at least a decade to start to correct any of this. the problems are too big and the investment needed is eye wateringly large. It's likely that we will have to pay more taxes (even if it's not the main taxes) to support this regeneration. It needs a vision that the country can get behind. an "we are all in this together" approach. Communities need to come together, not be divided. Which is more easier said than done with all the mainstream media rhetoric that out's there around immigration.

if you read anything on Twitter about the US Election... half of them think that Harris and Walz are Eastern Plants, bringing in Communism, to start WW3 with Russia and China to establish China as the leader of the New World Order..... that platform is becoming increasingly bonkers I swear!

totally agree.... the thing is though... you can't fix it over the life of a parliament.. it needs a longer term, strategic programme of works. It always amazes me how you come out of lots of foreign airports and the travel links from them is super simple. imagine trying to get to Leicester from East Midlands airport by rail.... you'd have to catch a bus to Nottingham to catch a train to Leicester.... Lisbon Airport.... walked out the door... down an escalator... got on a tube to Lisbon. Same for Barcelona... I just don't understand how we can't be joined up in the uk!

Yep... you are right... https://en-academic.com/dic.nsf/enwiki/1251212 Many of the towns in the list e.g. Newcastle under Lyme, Gosport, Dudley and Washington form part of larger conurbations or metropolitan areas, with a railway station within easy reach. If you exclude these towns, the largest British towns without direct access to a railway station are Corby (population 50,000), Blyth (36,000), Rushden/Higham Ferrers (35,500), Peterlee (30,000) and Coalville (30,000). BTW... I don't think that list is fully up to date as I know there is a station at Kenilworth (whereas the list says there isn't) - but it's a SCARY list for the number of our towns that aren't connected to the Rail Network.... no wonder no one flipping uses them!

I've recently joined PureGym in Coalville in an effort to get back to some degree of fitness after hitting 18 stone........... managed to pass out in there last Sunday which was fun!! It's quite a small gym, but I like the fact that I can access it at whatever time fo the day I want... It removed the excuse that "it's not open early enough" or "it's closing soon".... I really do have to learn to love the gym though, it's very much a chore at the minute... not my idea of fun exercise!

North West Leicestershire though is one of the largest areas in the UK without Rail Access.... I think I read that Coalville is the 2nd or 3rd Largest town without a Train Service / Railway Station. It's madness to me that you can have large parts of the country with no access to a rail network. Lots of this national infrastructure needs taking out of the responsibility of the government and put in the control of some legislature that has LONG TERM plans.... give it to the house of lords to manage for instance and make it a cross house initiative.

Go and tell that to my relative that died a horrendous death from it. If you weren't impacted and didn't see the suffering it caused to people who did become seriously ill, then you really cannot fathom it and have no place to comment.

What happened to pre-season also being about getting minutes into people's legs? It could just be that he wanted Fatawu to get some game time.... it doesn't automatically mean he's our starting LWB. with staggered return dates etc, we still have to put out an 11 in these games. I wouldn't start to worry too much about it, or deconstruct it, until it's happening in the final pre-season game ahead of the season opener...

Which is fine.... But KDH went on loan to Luton at 22. Thomas went on loan to sheff utd at 22.... They are going to have very different careers based on their ability. To me, Braybrooke looks like he has the ability to make it and I think he should be involved this year.

yes but loans don't automatically mean progress into the first team do they.... I suspect it's highly likely that Thomas doesn't / didn't have the same ceiling or ability that Barnes or KDH have. Iversen went on loan... does that mean we can sell him for £30m in the next year or so? Paul Appiah went on loan as well and has been released. correlation and causation are not the asme thing.

when life gives you lemons mate. you just have to knuckle down and deal with your situation / circumstances don't you. I'm sure there are loads of people out there with bigger challenges than I've ever had.

lots of people are using A&E as an extension of primary care now.... can't get a doctors appointment, so turn up to A&E to be seen.... People will have lots of differing opinions on Wes Streeting, but his pledge to focus money from the NHS budget into Primary Care and front line services is spot on.... people used to complain that they HAD to see a doctor within 48 hours back in the Blair days... now... it's more like "we'll call you back in two weeks"....

BTW... I bloody LOVE foxestalk as a community when we all come together to help out like this.... well done everyone!

@ROB-THE-BLUE, firstly, I'm sorry to hear about your circumstances. It's a horrible place to be and I have first hand experience of the same situation after the breakdown of a relationship. Prior to us separating, my other half had been drowning in debt and made redundant due to the financial crisis and also found herself pregnant at the same time. Given that we were having kids together and I was still in work, I did the honourable thing and moved all her debt into my name, and re-financed. When we then split up, I had assumed all her debt and suddenly found myself having to also pay £600 a month in a child maintenance. (which felt like a big kick in the teeth at the time!) I also had a house which was in negative equity which didn't help at all! I went down an IVA route, but it did take around 10 years for me to pay back everything that was owed and during that time, I had an annnual appraisal where I had to go through entire household budgets and any "spare" income was taken off of me and passed to my creditors. As such, anything like pay rises or bonuses in that period, didn't go to improving my "lifestyle" and it felt wholly restrictive. to this day, I don't have any personal loans or credit cards as I never want to be in that situation again and you very quickly learn how to live within your means. if I want to buy something, I only do so if the money is already in the bank account / savings account and it's a habit i'll never waiver from. Bankruptcy wasn't an option for me, as I didn't want to lose my house, but it would have been a sharper, shorter pain and Ironically, I would probably have been back on my feet quicker. As others have said, speak to citizens advice, reach out to the places you owe money to (they have a legal obligation to help you) and try to avoid a "managed" process, where a firm takes a monthly management fee. It feels like a sensible solution at the time, but the fee's feel heavy for what they actually do! finally, I wish you the very best of luck. It can feel overwhelming and it's likely to be a very dark time for you, but lean on those people that care about you and talk when you need to talk or need support.

Which may or not be true. None of us really know. How many loans did mainoo go on before breaking into the man utd first team??? (Spoiler alert the answer is none). He's played in the England game groups, as a back up and playing in cup competitions, I think he'd be fine. Didn't look out of place in the games before his injury.
